Well it looks like some progress has been made then. That's good.
-
Well here's a review of them from Tom's Hardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...-480,2585.html
Basic rundown: They're generally faster but cost a chunk more than 5870s and 5850s, are quite power hungry and run very hot. The single-chip 480 runs hotter and hungrier than a dual-chip 5970. Yikes. -
Good point. My bad. Well it should at least get low UM. And no, there has been no public word of late concerning UM and SLI/Crossfire working together. On the up side, I'd consider it pretty certain the Devs want and assumedly will get it working eventually.
-
Quote:Better. You should be able to get some decent UM action. I'd guess medium UM or so based on Posi's chart.I havent read the whole thread but I use a Geforce 9800 GX2, is that better or worse then Geforce 9800 GT
I've said this before, perhaps in this thread but maybe not, just because the new test client says you can do UM, doesn't mean you really can. The CB is still ongoing so testing is likewise ongoing. Which means the final specs aren't set yet. For all we know, that message will pop up for anyone running anything whatsoever, regardless of actual capabilities. As much as it may be nice for the game to have that message, I fear it is spreading false hope right now to those with systems that just won't make the cut. -
Well Vidiotmaps' map pack and Vanden's icon pack would qualify as mods and be the likely cause of those mod entries. But I'll take your word for it.
-
Quote:Don't know your specs but yes I'd expect it will run hotter. That assumes it works. Here's the deal, just because you have a PSU rated to 460W and the card says it wants at least a 450W doesn't mean you're in the clear. You need a mobo with a PCIE slot (I assume you have at least this), your PSU will have to have PCIE power connectors for your card, and you need enough amps on your 12V line to feed the card. Miss any of those and you're not going to get it to work.Quick question: I'm planning on replacing my graphics card but the new one requires 450w (ATI Radeon HD5830).
I opened up my case to look at my power supply and it says max 385w at 50 degrees C or max 460w at 60 degrees C.
What does this mean? That my current power supply would work but the system be hotter with all the possible complications that entails?
Ideas, recommendations? All help appreciated, thanks -
Not in a position to check but the zone might be down. It has happened before. You might PM a mod or open a support ticket. If the zone is fine, it might be your characters are messed up in the DB somehow. If that's the case, it'll take Support to get you set right. I assume by this you can log into any toon *not* parked in IP.
-
Ok, I know you said you reloaded, but did you transfer your game from a backup or do a fresh full download? If you didn't do a fresh download, remove and try that. Also, no mods till we track this down please. Vidiotmaps and all that are generally fine, but just in case, keep the game vanilla for now.
-
Quote:Well, no one can actually answer that here, NDA and all. If you have CB access as you sound like, take the question to the beta forums.Hello.
Would you guys know whether there's any plans to fix Ultra Mode for Catalyst 10.3 (or 2) before i17 launches? Or should I make myself to the idea that I better reinstall 10.1?
I tried the Training room, and the game wouldn't stop freezing on Ultra Mode.
Nothing to see here....move along.... -

Quote:I've run into innumerable nonstandard PSU designs in my career and plenty of badly designed cases. But one actively designed to prevent access? Wow. Now that's impressive. In my years of being a certified tech, I have to say that ranks up with some of the other design blunders I've seen in the past. Though that one IBM model with the non-standard power supply I dealt with was annoying.
I've actually run into one computer that was fully riveted to prevent any access to the inside of the case. I had to tell the client that any upgrades would have to be handled by the seller. -
Yes it is and yes it does. I'll never truly understand who designs those monstrosities. They have to be drunk or on drugs when they come up with those things. Why they can't take a nod from the companies that actually make servicable and sensible cases (or just buy theirs from them) I'll never understand. There's plenty of manufacturers who know how to make workable, servicable cases that still look good but the things the big PC makers come up with come out looking like they were designed during a 2-for-1 special at the local bar. Just one of the several reasons why I always build my own instead of buy a prebuilt.
-
Ok, this looks to be the 'Upgrading and Servicing Guide' for the system. Looks like the HDD and the assembly it is attached to, including the 'cage' are removed by pulling them out the front of the case which requires removal of the front panel. Instructions for all that are in the guide. After that it looks like the memory is (relatively) easily accessed.

Good luck. -
-
Congrats. Not everyone can have the maximum pretty, but if you're happy, that's plenty good.
-
Pictures perhaps? If we can see the problem, perhaps we can see a way past it. But surely there is a way to access it.

Quote:On my system it switches to basic but only so long as the game has focus. If I switch to something else, Aero comes back on and goes back to basic only when I return to the game.I had my doubts but you guys were right. I downloaded the OpenGL 4.0 preview drivers and I can now alt-tab. Wooohooo. I was scared at first because it did the same thing as always, switch from Aero to Vista basic, but tried alt-tab anyways. Nice to see some progress.

Quote:Well you're in the best position to say for certain but it looks to me like if you didn't mind doing a bit of modding, cutting those 'fins' off the side of the fan shroud would allow it to fit. Or you could just cut away the whole conflicting part of it if that would do better. Your PC so your decision but I'll trow it out there. And it shouldn't have any impact on the CPU cooling, particularly if you just cut off the fins. Thank you Dell and your wonderful case design! In my defense I was tripping around in the USA and the system came dirt cheap. If I knew it would have had all these issues, I would've saved my money and bought a system here in Australia or a custom built one.
Here's the two pics I took of the HD 5770 card before I packed it up

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...r/CASEHIS1.jpg
Yes its out of alignment, due to contacting the CPU fan... and I couldn't get a good shot of the pin placement on the motherboard, but you should get the idea of just how close it was to fitting.
The card is not, repeat not sitting in the socket, it is sitting on the motherboard.
If the CPU assembly was just a little smaller it would have fitted... oh well.
I'll get in touch with the Tech Support of AusPC Market and talk to them at the start of business tomorrow my time.
Quote:I would much rather the Devs produice a video of what ultramode will look like inside and outside of Ultra Mode. The 2 second shot from heroCon didnt do jack for me and I am wrapping my head around what to do.
I amgetting 4k this week and am considering getting some new toys but just for ultra mode I think I'll be wasting my money so yea. Any idea when i17 goes open beta so I can tinker around with settings?More seriously, there's no need to spend that much on a PC, well, period. I don't know what you have now but if you're perfectly happy with it and the performance you get now, do nothing. Spend the cash elsewhere or save for a rainy day. If you're not happy with it, then just spend enough to get it where you will be happy. None of us here can tell you how to spend your money but we can suggest and advise things if you have some sort of plan in mind as to where you want to go.
Quote:I understand that.
The thing is, I don't want to be in mid-range, I want to run it ultra settings, ultra quality, maxed out, and the GTX 260 can't do it alone.
Waiting for another update from Posi.
(b^_^)b
An 8800GT 512 should be able to do minimum UM based on what we know right now. -
Quote:Well based on public knowledge, the desktop should get UM at minimum settings I think. The laptop? No chance. So I have a AMD athlon x2 64 4400+ with 4 GB of ram and Windows 7 64bit with a nvidea 8800GT 512mb is this system going to be able to handle Ultra Mode? i have almost the sames specs in my laptop that I game with AMD turion64 x2 4 GB of ram Windows 7 64bit with a ATI x1270. Any ideas for me?
-
You may be right but I dunno. Perhaps a beta Hami raid needs to be organized to find out just how many licks it DOES take to get to the center of a 5850. But then it wouldn't exactly help DeathSentry until the NDA lifts... But it's a thought.

Well your first problem is almost certainly these entries:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{2402C590-2EA9-4C62-933F-83F65F112A47}: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{7B9717FD-1D84-4753-9CA8-E90C92C6DC5E}: NameServer = 205.171.3.65,205.171.2.65
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{AA3672C0-B6CA-4988-92EA-6F46374239E4}: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{2402C590-2EA9-4C62-933F-83F65F112A47}: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
Something has hijacked you. Unfortunately I'm not certain what. Though I'm not certain what this is:
O16 - DPF: {15589FA1-C456-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A} - http://w4s2.work4sure.com/c/ge/w4sgeen9.exe
You can try removing those entries and see what happens, but odds are something not visible in HijackThis is just gonna put it back. If you can get to another machine, download a cleaner from there to a USB drive and transfer it to your machine. That might work for you. I'd recommend Malwarebytes Antimalware. It does a pretty good job and is free. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php -
Have you tried not using your music program and seeing if you can run multiple CoH sessions then? Also, check task manager after the game shutdown, perhaps the game exe doesn't completely turn off for some reason and that is your issue. Again, this might be caused by your music program somehow. Check that it too is fully 'off'. Also check your game sound settings. I assume you have them off but perhaps they're not and are fighting with the music program somehow, causing issues.
Just some ideas I thought of... -
Quote:e9250t yes? Well I found a service manual with pics of your interior. It's still hard to judge for absolute certain but it *looks* like a standard size PSU would work in your box. From what I could find on the mobo specs, it uses a 24-pin and 4-pin power connector. So be sure any PSU you buy supports that and is rated for an LGA1156 board. The other apparent good news is you can from all appearances use a double-slot video card so most anything out there is viable provided your new PSU has the connectors and the juice to support what you buy. I'd make sure a standard PSU will fit before plunking down cash on a video card. Do some measuring and all that. I also can't tell how much room, length-wise you have. All the newer cards are a bit long so measuring there to determine what will fit is also good. Performance-wise, higher up the food chain will certainly be better. Particularly if you want to run UM maxed at a Hami raid. And I don't know if there even is a card capable of that. Dunno if any have happened on Test but until OB, nobody can say regardless. From public info, 5770s were said to do quite well but whether they can do *that*, well,....??? Obviously your budget will dictate what you can get but I'd suggest investing as much for the future as you can afford assuming you plan to keep this system for awhile. So I have a 22' monitor which I run at 1920X1080; if I wanted to run each setting as Ultra (shader quality, occlusion, water, reflections, etc), and given the comments about shaders above, would I need a 5850?
System specs: HP e925T, 6 GB RAM, Windows 7 (64-bit), gfx card: ATI 4350; am assuming
its an ATX box.. so if a 5850 were the only card I could use, would it fit? And, from a power supply perspective, can any brand fit in an HP or are there restrictions?
Personally, if I can use a 57xx, it would be great due to the price difference (plus the fact that I have to buy a power supply), but I want something that won't be taxed even if I have ultrax maxed at a hami raid. -
Quote:Same sort of thing for me. ATI has released preview drivers for OGL 3.3/4 and I have those. Thus far, the problem has gone away for me. But it took the preview drivers to make it happen. None of the recent driver releases worked for me till those. So folks having the issue might give them a go.This has always been unchecked for me and I am now running 10.3 drivers on my 5850, Vista 64 bit. I had also went to Themes to change it to "Windows Vista" but every time I start the game it still switches to Vista Basic. Still no alt-tab for me but I just run two monitors and make sure any apps or browsers are already running on the second monitor. Would still like to get it to work.
