  1. Download and install the vidiotmaps.com map pack.

Log off in the Auction House to earn a Day Job badge and a rechargeable temp power that can teleport you to any Auction House. It's a great way to get to Steel Canyon and the university crafting tables in a hurry.

There is no XP debt before level 10, so you can use the Hospital teleporter to quickly cross zones by just being defeated.

Using an Awaken to resurrect does not prevent XP debt.

3 or 4 Luck (purple shield) inspirations will put you close to the defense cap and make you nearly untouchable until they wear off. It's a good idea to have 3 ready before fighting most bosses solo.

There is a Difficulty Slider contact in almost every zone, you do NOT have to go to Kings Row every time to adjust your settings.

You can craft most inventions in a non-combat, player created AE Arc (#487283, "The Crafter's Cafe") instead of visiting a University or having a Base crafting table.

You can also craft inventions in the Rikti War Zone base which is connected to Atlas Park.

You can change your costume in the Rikti War Zone base connected to Atlas Park.

You can save your Options, Window Settings, and Chat Settings in the options menu and simply load them up from the options menu when you make a new character.

  3. It'd be tough to top the live Dr. Horrible show I saw at a local theatre, but I'd go to this! In a heartbeat.
  4. Thanks Witty, I'll try to play thru one or two this week and see what they're all about! I recognize your name so I may have played one of yours before, actually.

Steel, thanks for the enthusiasm! Look forward to playing with ya
  5. There better be some Jerk Hacking in there or I'm going to be greatly disappointed.

  9. Today's Ænvasion target was Virtue! 2 nearly full teams of Virtue faithful came out for Bubbawheat's Time-Warp themed AE adventures. The current copyright bug made for some last minute arc choices, but we still ran 2 chrono-riffic arcs and one infinitely awesome bonus arc! Thank you Virtue for a fun-tastic time

Often the AE Storyteam will choose a theme for the week and search out arcs that fit, spotlighting a few that are well executed and have a unique/memorable twist. Today, Bubba decided to go with a Time Warp theme.

First up was Groundhog Daze, an older arc that still stands up to today's tastes. The story features a custom enemy mercenary group themed around Rodents (bonus points if you can spot the one that doesn't belong...and no, it's not the critter that's been invalidated). Their leader Pauxatawny Phil (sp?) is harnessing chronal energies to gain power for himself and you get caught in a loop trying to stop him.

The arc makes creative use of the level shifting ability of AE as your character is back-shifted each mission to show his/her loss of power. Normally if an arc switches levels between missions it's a distraction, here, it works FOR the story! Fun dialog, creative mechanics and unique customs get this story MOST CREATIVE and BEST CUSTOMS for the week!

Next up Bubba picked what's probably the most well-known time warp arc in AE...his own! Ctrl+Alt+Reset is already a Dev Choice and for good reason. It's a very well detailed and well polished romp thru the time loop as you try to solve the mystery of an evolving time machine and free yourself from an infinite loop! Pay close attention to your clue bag in the final mission as there's many fun pop-culture jokes and references.

While the arc does have its humorous moments, it's more of high-octane adventure than comedy show. And the creative take & mechanics make it BEST OVERALL for the week!

Those that stuck around for 1 more mission were treated to my off-theme bonus arc. I figured since we'd just run 2 infinite loop arcs, it'd be fun to share one of my favorite quickie mishes (as evidenced 2 weeks ago) that takes our players to an infinitessimal level...Storming Citadel!

This time, we wanted a slightly different experience so we actually failed the mission to get the alternate ending! ...Okay, so we didn't fail on purpose. I forgot it was a timed mission and we took too long reading, but it was a fun experience even though we almost supersized in Citadel's head >.< BEST HAPPY MISTAKE!
I cannot thank the Virtue players enough for their enthusiasm and good spirits. I was happy to see comments afterward along the lines of, "Now this is how AE is supposed to played!" I couldn't agree more and thank you for taking the time to play with us

Next Sunday (5/29/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Liberty Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone at our regular time: 9am Pacific/noon Eastern. Storyteam member and Liberty resident, Lord of Storms is stepping out of the shadows and onto center stage with his picks for the week! Go easy on him, as I will be missing this session to celebrate my birthday in RL. Remember, all levels and ATs are welcome, so feel free to make an alt and join the Ænvasion!

Welcome back First Son! We're in the middle of our Ænvasion Event so feel free to roll up an alt on any of the upcoming servers listed in the OP and join in. This Sunday we'll be on Virtue, Freedom is currently scheduled for June 18th.

Look forward to TÆMING with ya
  14. Confessions of a serial PuGster:

    1. Broadcast in server's Global channel.

    2. Broadcast in Broadcast.

    3. Send polite /tell to players at or under your level range asking if they'd like to join your Mish Team/Radio Team/Hero Tip Team/TF/etc.

    4. Be open to accepting low level players.

    5. Have fun.
  15. It's "Goddess" not "Dutchess!!" Fergie is the Dutchess.

    Get your Sheen right, man!
  16. Huh. I was wondering why my RoF was being so awesome lately. Oh well.
  17. Aww poor Monty. Wont' someone adopt him before the Paragon Pet Control have to put him down? He's house trained, neutered, and kid-friendly.

*okay, not so much kid-friendly as he has been known to stomp sidekicks into gooey street paste
  18. Union Chat is a good alternate channel if Union TF isn't active enough.
  19. 23 of 30, too. *shakes fist at Batman Begins' hammy script*

  21. Thanks Psymate, you guys were a blast! It's not too presumptuous. The AE Storyteam is always open to new players so feel free to roll up an alt. One thing to note, tho: At the conclusion of our Ænvasion event we may relocate the Storyteam from Triumph.

Part of the reason we're doing the Ænvasion is to get a feel for what the other servers are like and possibly find a new home. So, you never know, we may just wind up coming to Guardian

  23. Ænvasion event week 5 had an even bigger turnout than last week! Guardian players, led by their own SupaFreak, showed up eager for some AE excitement. And Supa delivered with these 3 standout arcs!

#493777 "Powers Division Briefing Files: Nictus & Nictus Cults" by @Baron Von Boomslang

#367872 "Dhahabu Kingdom and the Indelible Curse" by @Zamuel
    5 Mish, Heroic

One of the goals of the AE Storyteam is to shed light on arcs that have few plays but show either a unique creativity or story potential. SupaFreak played over 100 arcs in the weeks leading up to Guardian's Ænvasion and chose 3 he felt stood out and would be fun.

First up was The Fractured Dreamer. This is an arc that had 0 plays before Supa stumbled upon it! A fairly straightforward action arc with ties to canon groups: Crey, Malta and Carnival of Shadows, this arc was a solid telling of a poor mutant child being caught in the middle of many of the city's more nefarious organizations' schemes...and, of course, your role in saving her!

While the story wasn't ground-breakingly original, it was well detailed, balanced, had proper ties to canon, and was still fun! It felt very much like it could have been a regular arc in-game. BEST EFFORT!

Next up was something I'd never seen before: a test mission for an upcoming arc. Powers Division Briefing Files was created to test the balance and look of a custom enemy group. Now, normally, an author just slaps them in their arc and tests away. But here, the author created a separate, 1 mission arc so OTHER people can test his customs and leave feedback. And instead of just tossing the enemy group on any old map without any setup, he's crafted a memorable concept that makes the test arc a worthy story in and of itself!

The concept really lends itself to a whole series of "Who's Who" or "Marvel Universe" Guide-type missions. And it works as effective advertising for his upcoming arc! I, for one, would love to see more! MOST CREATIVE! and BEST CUSTOMS!

Our final arc, Dhahabu Kingdom, rounded out Supa's selections with a serious, detail rich story of a world in peril and your fate as its savior. It was unfortunate that the latest stealth patch to AE invalidated many of the custom enemies in this arc, as they are some of the most beautiful I've seen in AE. Bugs aside, the characters and richly detailed history of this arc still make it a rewarding play. BEST OVERALL!
Once again, a HUGE "Thank You!" to Guardian server for your enthusiastic participation. We actually had enough players show up for 3 teams if only we had enough leaders!

Next Sunday (5/22/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Virtue Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone at our regular time: 9am Pacific/noon Eastern.
