  2. Sorry to all those that were in Pocket-D, but were unable to join us on the last CoP trial.

We plan to continue running the Blue-side CoP on Sundays and we hope to get you into the next trial. The best way to ensure that you have a spot on one of the three teams is to reply to the forums. If you don't have a forum account for posting, you can contact a member of Omega Revolution instead. Sending an in-game email to @Omega Shockwave is the easiest way to do this. I am also available at @AzureLightstar.

"Walk-ons" will typically assigned to teams after "preregisters" are placed, so it's best to contact us as earliest as possible. This is to keep things organized and reduce having to shift players from team to team after initial placement. A lot of CoP's fail when teams are not well balanced, so team creation is an important step for success. Typcially, our CoP teams will contain one person for aggro control, one for healing, one for buffing, and one for debuffing. The rest of the team will provide damage and/or other support.

It would help planning (and ultimately when we can start) if you could include your character's local name, when you contact us. Dealing with global names can be a bit time consuming sometimes. It would also help us if you give us your character's AT/primary/secondary.

For example, you can send something like "I will bring Mudflow, he is a Controller/Earth control/Kinetics" or "I would like to use Azure Lightstar, she is a Controller/Gravity Control/Radiation Emission"). In this example, Mudflow may be placed on Team 1, because he can buff others and there are no other buffers for that team. Azure, on the other hand, may go to Team 3 because she is useful as a debuffer and a backup healer, and Teams 1 and 2 already have people for that role. It is also possible that both characters may just be placed in the role of damage dealer/secondary support, because the primary roles are already assigned to ones that specialize in those roles.

We try our best to fit you into a team that we think will give you the best chance for success.

And although not neccessary for beating the CoP, we found that some powers are helpful for our tactic. So could you let us know the following:

    1. Your character has Taunt (or something along those lines).
    2. Your character has Vengence.
    3. Your character has Teleport Friend.
    4. Your character has a rez power.

We hope to see you on the next run.

    ~Azure

PS...The Red-side CoP will be run periodically (but not as regularly, unless requested of course), so look for announcements on those also.
  3. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I'm bummed to hear about the inactivity of PVP on my home server. Maybe that will change in the future. I'm going to get some characters made on the servers you suggested above. I may even move some of my Guardian characters during a "free transfer" week.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all in the future...so my characters can "gank" yours. =D

I'm joking of course about the ganking, of course. I'm sure I'm going to face-plant several hundred times before I get used to things. I can see it now...my character is standing in the middle of the zone, completely unhidden, with a confused deer-in-the-headlights look on his or her face, shouting in the global channel, "Why is it so quiet around here?"

I sure my characters will be hard to miss (I'm serious...they practically have no shields, defense, or agility). -chuckles-

Seriously though, I'm hoping this will be a positive experience for me. And I'm really intrigued by the kickball that was mentioned earlier. It sounds devilish!
  4. -------------------------------------------------------
    Name: Privateer Protectorate

Motto: "No task is too large. No fee is too large!" (our nod to Ghostbusters)

    Leader(s): @AzureLightstar and @EchoesofDarkness.

    Player Type: Any.

    RolePlay: Encouraged, but never enforced.

    Membership levels: Any.

SuperGroup Colours: Not enforced (though I remember a lot of purple for some reason).

Normal time of Gameplay: Regularly on Sunday evenings, however, members do log on throughout the week. We tend to help each other out on missions, badge hunts, etc. The group enjoys taskforces (and now strikeforces), special holiday events, and has never turned away from a chance to do new content.

Other information: The Privateer Protectorate was conceived as the "little" sister group of the PTB (Powers Treatment Board). The group is coalitioned most notably with the Omega Revolution and the PTB, as well as a handful of other side project supergroups. Storywise this supergroup is meant to be a no-frills superhero temp agency, whose purpose is to connect superheroes with propective clients. Dispite the no-frills label, our base is equiped with what you would expect a base to have (teleporters to all the zones, a medi-bay, a vault, several inspiration stations, and aspect of pillar, and some crafting tables).

Recruiting: Is always looking for new members.

    Website: Under construction.

  5. I believe that both Ouroboroi and Ouroboroses are acceptable.

As others have stated above, some people will use Ouroboroi because of its Greek origins. But I have seen Ouroboroses used as well, because of how we tend to Anglicizing words. Octopus is a good example this. It is acceptable to use octopuses (Anglicized), octopodes (from the original Greek) and octopi (from the Latinization).

I would lean toward Ouroboroses though, because I personally don't think the Greeks needed to pluralize their concept of Ouroboros. But when we make Ouroboros a physical place, we now run the chance of having multiple instances of Ouroboros. So applying our rules for make a proper noun a plural seems appropriate here, like when we make Memphis, Memphises.

To me, languages is about communicating what you mean. So if you can still communicate clearly that you are referring to more than one Ouroboros, it really shouldn't matter if it is Ouroboroi and Ouroboroses.

  7. Being new to PVP, are there any PVP/Arena groups on Guardian that I should look for? I suppose I can keep reading the forum and get my advice from here, but I'm really hoping to have the same fun at learning PVP as I did with PVE.

I was lucky in that when I started on City of Heroes, I had a group of friends that were already familiar with the game. Because of this, picking up on how to play PVE was easy. My friends were able to offer advice on tough missions. They would also be there to exchange new ideas on character builds and thoughts on how to slot out those characters. And if we wanted to start something like a taskforce or a strikeforce, we just teamed up and (if needed) looked for two, maybe three, extra people before we got going. Granted, it was ultimately up to me to learn what worked best for my playing style, but it was nice to have friends there. Unfortunately, most of my friends do not PVP, so they are not able to assist me as much now that I'm interested in trying out PVP.

I'm not looking to replace my PVE experience with PVP. I'm looking to expand my overall CoH experience though. In the process, I hope to learn some things that will help my character-building skills as well as learn some new tricks and tactics that I could use in PVE. It would also be nice to pick up a few new friends and globals that I could team with too (both for PVP and PVE events).

I'm also interested in trying arena league stuff, having played around with the Arena a bit. I think I missed the latest sign-up and I hope to catch any new sign-ups for the Guardian server (being my "home base"). After I get really comfortable playing in a few tournaments, I would even be willing to assist in running them.

  8. See, I baked you a cake. Unfortunately the cake is a lie.

    Seriously though. Happy Birthday.

    ~Azure Lightstar
  9. Sign me up as well. Depending on hosting duties, I can bring either my Rad/Rad Corruptor or my main.
  10. I'm in with Mudflow of course.

I love it when people see the Omega Revolution base for the first time. Their reactions are absolutely priceless!
  11. I'll bring my Rad/Rad Corruptor (Lvl 50)

    Name = Cadmium Redd
