Quote:I mean, the awesome ray gun would never fit into that holster, but WHY AM I LOOKING AT THE HOLSTER ANYWAY???Quote:Yeah I was going to mention the too small and wrongly shaped holster and the fingers being too small & some knuckle-less
but really there is so much to like about this piece that I can still enjoy it after noticing that stuff.
I noticed the hand too but figured that Janet's people - the Idio - have surely developed such fine-boned fingers and hands to seemingly lack anything so gauche as knuckles. I mean, knuckles are soooo 21st century. -
Quote:It takes a certain level of careless disregard for proper money management.all I can say is I wish I had the cash to afford commissions (or the tallent to draw better then I do) these are quite nice.
Glad you like it, guys!
I get "similar" offers in-game from time to time... but almost never in real life. Oh, if those ERPers hitting me up as Janet flies by could see the mass of manly humanity at the helm! -
Janet Planet by Robert Porter!
This one was a bit of a waiting game but I'm very satisfied with the results. I love Robert's style for female characters and I think he hit that delicate balance of Elvgren Girl and Little Annie Fanny just perfectly here. He nailed Janet's personality and I like his spin on the costume.
I did wait for this one for awhile but he seemed to have a little trouble really getting something going that he liked for the character. He always communicated with me promptly when I checked in with him and I can't fault the end result. I'd recommend him to fellow art collectors based on my experience because I think he will definitely complete the work. It just might take a little while. -
Great stuff here, CH, and congrats on the potential pilot. That's awesome, man.

Great collection, cool characters, and some great artists. Rocketshoes in particular has a style I like for a comedic commission I have in mind so I thank you for pointing him out to me. I'll be watching... in this thread and on dA!
And you could do a lot worse than taking your inspiration from Comrade Hero. In my experience, a prince of a guy. -
Yeah, I have unavailable slots on one account where all my slots had been opened but my other account doesn't seem to have the same issue. I want to do a re-roll on a character but I know I'll lose the slot. Please fix this ASAP.

Quote:Thanks VexXxy!Nice catch, Attache!!! She looks cute, and yet scaryyyyy! Must be the bloody swords!
Quote:The happy/sad theatre mask pommels were an interesting touch.
Thanks GQ!
Quote:it's hard to come up with positive things to say that still sound unique...i think i'll mime it out this time...cause everyone likes charades... -
Quote:Maybe I sell my characters short but I never really think they are visually arresting or interesting enough to work as a bust - unlike the awesomeness of Goblin Queen there. I am interested in the possibility of a full body commission though so I'll be keeping an eye for that. Unfortunately, my commission buying might be down in 2011 but I'm sure I'll find a little spare cash here and there.Yay! Glad you like the piece and the artist.
His deals used to be 20 bucks a bust but now it's 25. If you're in the market for a new piece then you may want to jump on it soonish before he goes up in price again. I should too, I have a few more characters I'd love to see done in his style!

Quote:I love this one... and the artist responsible went on Watch instantly.

Quote:That is a very nice gesture, Air. You are a generous man and as someone who has seen that generosity, I'm certain it is very much appreciated.I got a chance to make another contribution yesterday. We'll be billeting a displaced Japanese family in our tiny place in Singapore for the next week or so, until they are ready to go home. This will likely impact my March Fan Art submission, but I'll see what I can do from my office.

Maniac Mime by Mike Luckas!
Another pretty good example of a good value commission over on deviantART. I got this one in exchange for the purchase of a year's membership to the site for the artist. It took awhile to get but I'm pretty pleased with his take on my insane character.
It did take awhile though - he'll be needing another in 3-4 months. Some of you dAers may want to keep an eye out for the offer. -
Quote:I'd say what we should be arguing for is pool power customization. Trying to redefine single effects on single powers based on a few opinions is an unproductive process when we really should be looking at letting people pick the variant they like.Quote:I believe that pool power customization is still on the table it's just taken a back seat to other things that the developers want to deliver on.
Oh the hellish Limbo that is Soon™!
^
Again, choices are always preferred but if they don't want to take the time to give us a selection, at least give us an on and off option. We deserve it! Some people have been playing this game a fair fraction of their life. -
Honestly, I don't really mind the "air disturbance" effect on these two powers when the character is actually in motion. I think it sells the movement and gives a sense of speed in spite of being quite slow. I can live with it and sometimes even like it.
But can the effect be made to work a little more like Sprint or the Prestige Sprints in that it suppresses when the character is otherwise motionless? Or at least make it a little more subtle when the character isn't moving? It really takes away from otherwise awesome screenies. I know that there are ways to suppress it with other graphics but losing effects you like just to eliminate something that is overdone is never a great trade off.
As always, full customization is the premium choice. I'd love to be able to turn off the visual effects on a number of pool powers (Hasten) besides these two. -
Quote:I definitely used up most of my luck for 2010 getting that screenshot.Freaking awesome! Congrats on the catch... of art and screenshot
Quote:Congrats! Beautiful piece. Yet another one that's tempting me to get one done of a character "off duty".
That is my plan, VexXxy. Unfortunately, my commission buying is probably going to be down this year - considering getting a house - and this is definitely a piece that I would want to keep the talent involved top notch. It'll happen but I can't say when. -
Crackdown Crackup with lines by Ardian Syaf!
What's cooler than getting a Hugo Award nominee to draw your City of Heroes character with this much detail? Getting a Hugo Award nominee to draw your character gratis because you managed to grab a screenshot of his 50,000th page view shortly after he made a very generous offer. It took awhile to get but you can't argue the price or these results. Ardian is aces!
The basic idea is a "normal" hero after the big fight with a single tear rolling down his cheek. Is it just from the massive pain or did the case go that wrong? Crackdown ain't saying and I wouldn't ask!
Extra special link provided directly to the artist's dA page above for those of you who loath visiting my page first. -

No ape parts?? We still have to make "ghetto" apes using the alien face? For shame, Animal Pack...
At the very least, putting a Gorilla in the Animal Pack graphic would have been sure to increase sales. -

Quote:Yeah, Carlos is amazing. I have him helping me out on a commission for a friend that I, unfortunately, won't be able to post here as it is non-CoH related. Stay tuned on dA though!Definitely this. I'd buy that for a dollar Even better it's ten cents! Time to get my fill of pulp thrills, spills and dames in distress!
Love it. -
Sky Vulcan with lines by Randy Kintz and colors by Ross-A-Campbell!
The name Sky Vulcan was coined by one of my old SG's founders and placed in the group's fictional history to serve as one of the "supermen" of the WWII era. When I found the name free, I always knew I wanted to do something with it but as the original had been killed in action back in the day, I didn't want to sully the story of his sacrifice by doing yet another superhero resurrection.
As the original was a pilot in WWII whose plane was struck by a mysterious bolt of lightning, my way seemed clear. I just placed said plane in a museum devoted to these superheroes of the Golden Age and had yet another mysterious bolt of lightning strike a second time...this time with a female curator inside. Boom! Sky Vulcan II.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the best part - this one was gift art from an in-game buddy bought and paid for by him! Thanks, man!
As always, clicking the image takes you to my dA gallery. Links to the artists can be found in the description. -

Oh, Young Attache...there is so much I wish I could warn you about: Empty calories, sunscreen, unfunny internet memes, how that guy at the bus stop is NOT your friend. Stay strong, little dude... someday ALL this will be yours.
Even the bottom picture isn't all that current. Bigfoot gets more press than I do. It is a rare picture...me with a lady...but I had to cut her out. She might not appreciate being on the web with her arm around me. -
The piece is complete and can be viewed at this thread.
I think it came out great! I hope you enjoy it, Jophiel!
