  1. Hello everybody.

It's been a banner month for growth for the page, as our membership increased from 196 to 210. A net increase of +14. Welcome to our newest members!
    Next update on 04/01.
  2. Happy Birthday. Hope you enjoy it and may you celebrate many, many more!
  3. Happy Birthday, Pepsi! (Although I will not include a video of me with a big grin)
  4. Ah, thank you...it did seem quite peculiar. Since her post did not have a correction, I just put up the info for folks to keep an eye out (due to the irregular time). Thanks for clarifying that, Carnifax_NA!
  5. Seems odd in terms of the time of the publish, I can't recall the last time they brought down the servers in the evening hours for an update/patch/publish. Oh well, guess I will be getting my next well of the furies on Wed. instead.

March 8-14 - Soul Of The Woodsman (from Numina in Founders' Falls) / The Crystal Of Serafina (from Ice Mistral in St. Martial)

March 15-21 - Time's Arrow (from Imperious in Cimerora)

March 22-28 - The Praetorian Offensive (from Tin Mage Mark II in the Rikti War Zone)

    Strike Target
    February 22 - February 28

Clamor And Destruction (from Sister Psyche in Independence Port)
Pirates Of The Skies (from Silver Mantis in Sharkhead Isle or your SG or VG base's mission computer or oracle)

Every week, we will announce one Task Force and one Strike Force (or instead one Co-Op Task Force) that will give increased rewards for that week. The first time a character completes the Weekly Strike Target in the week, they receive double merits and a bunch of additional XP. Even if you “go rogue” and do the other side’s Weekly Strike Target as well, you’ll only get that reward for your first in a given week. After running it once, your character can earn progress toward some brand new badges for helping others by running it as many times as you like. Of course, you can run the WST on as many characters as you have the inclination for and get the increased rewards on each. The Weekly Strike Target will change every Tuesday morning.
  9. I'll be lucky to get 2 in this week.
Alas, that is the current state of my gaming time.

Azure, I'm inspired and I'm going to put together a "war" themed playlist for you.
Saw them one time in the Orange Bowl for the Joshua Tree Tour. The BoDeans and Buckwheat Zydeko opened for them, they closed with "40" and the fans were singing the song even after the show was over and they were all heading home. It resonated all over the stadium, it was one of the coolest moments for me going to concerts. Another was when the toured for All That You Can't Leave Behind and it was at the Bank Atlantic Center. They started off with Elevation and the crowd started bouncing and I swear the building was moving, it was so freakin' awesome!!

Sunday Bloody Sunday Probably my favorite U2 song. There are a lot of great live recordings of this one as well, but I prefer the studio version and it's inclusion of violin.

Also, while they might not be thematically obvious, early U2 has always had a "time of war" sound to me.

    I Will Follow

    Two Hearts Beat As One

New Year's Day Stiff competition for my favorite U2 song.

    Seconds

    Like A Song

    Red Hill Mining Town

Ok, so it's just an excuse to post some cool music. Sue me.

Like a Song is so awesome!! Can't believe I forgot that one. That is such a "roll the down the windows and sing it until your lungs explode" song. The early U2 was more aggressive, when Steve Lillywhite was producing them (heavy on the drums and bass), it can be especially heard on the "War" album.

Mental, kudos for those tracks and the "War" theme. You would think I would have thought about that....especially since the freakin' album is called "War".

Does U2 have a song you think might be a fitting suggestion for Azure?

This is where a guy like me who dabbles in and out of music genres needs some insight. I get some exposure from basic radio and very limited from television, friends, etc.
Just saw your post, and I am going to have to think about it. They do have a lot of songs to choose from, so I am going to give you a list of tracks off the top of my head:

The Unforgettable Fire - "This song was the soundtrack to a game I played in the late 80's called "Articfox" from Electronic Arts. Personal bias, as this is one of my favorite U2 songs, atmospheric, strings...this song was the song that hooked me on U2.

Bullet The Blue Sky - for those with dual pistol characters, a fantastic song from the Joshua Tree, even better live (and I hate live recordings/albums).

M O * O (did not think that would be redacted) - while not so thematic, it is by far U2's biggest stretch into electronica (glad they visited, but even happier they decided not to pursure this style of music). Along with "Vertigo" as aggressive a U2 song as they have recorded.

While I can't say that their music is easy to put with superhero/supervillain themes, these 4 songs are a start. To me U2 music is more mood oriented music than anything. There are lots of anthems, "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Where The Streets Have No Name", I could go on but I would have to delve into it some more with more time. Either that, or I am not too creative at all!

EDIT - had to throw in one non-U2 that is a great album in it's own right, Pearl Jam "Ten", just an awesome record.
  15. Since the blueside run is so much faster than the red, I can bring Quantum Gloom (dark x3 defender) for this run.
  16. If I make it and after Ulli's shargasm reference it will seem more than likely, I'll be bringing my blaster to rogue status.
  17. 10PM EST is running it a bit late for me, my hero is still a vigilante, but all I need to do is run the morality mission and I can go rogue. So, count me as an alternate as I am going to see if I have enough energy to do this tonight. Thanks again for coordinating these runs, Mind!
  18. Will the Empire of the Damned be running a Rikti Raid this week?

Return Of The Reichsman (Dr. Kahn/Founders Falls) or Thus Spoke The Reichsman (Barracuda/Grandville)

  20. I concur with the latter U2. While I do enjoy No Line on The Horizon, it almost felt rushed at times and had they worked on it a bit more and fleshed out some of the tracks, it would have been better. And while I enjoy the POP album, that is the "wrong turn" amongst the majority of U2 fans. How To Dismante and All That You Can't Leave Behind were fantastic albums. Most groups in a lifetime have one album that is their best. U2 has 3 and in each decade, which I can't even think of a band that can say that, Joshua in the 80's, Achtung in the 90's and All That You Can't Leave behind in the 00's. Now, can they rebound from this album and create another masterpiece is TBD.

I was listening to "Rejoice" by U2 earlier and it reminded me so much of that early energy they had, that song is my favorite early U2 track (pre Eno/Lanois).

I remember Def Leppard trying to go "grunge-lite" with the Slang album in the 90's and that was a disaster. As for Metallica, ...And Justice opened the mainstream public eyes to the band, and the Black Album kicked down the door.

Now, time for me to get some game-time in, and I will be listening to Talk Talk tonight.
  21. I'll do what I can to hold out until after 9PM EST
  22. I want to run another one this evening, to keep working on the badge and more shards as well. I'll try to be on around 8PM EST. Hopefully, we can get something together tonight.
  23. I would like to think that all bands with longevity will evolve (or devolve) depending on the band in question. Some bands enjoy a resurgence (Duran Duran and their "Wedding Album" CD for example). For Metallica, the turning point was ...and Justice for All. That was the end of their "speed metal" days and they evolved into a more "mainstream metal" band. The quality is still there, just the evolution of their sound (again for better or worse).

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were another example of a band who success came after several albums of work and an evolution of their sound.

I am a U2 fan and they are almost the poster child for evolving. Take their early work which was heavy on the drums/bass and when Eno/Lanois came into the picture, they developed their sound and their biggest success followed (The Joshua Tree). Then, they re-invented their sound in the 90's (Achtung Baby). They are not the most technically talented individuals, but as a band, they play on their strengths and create some great music (IMHO).

    Well...back to the grind
  24. Tonight is the night. Come out and support PvP on the Guardian server.
