  1. I was about to type out this semi-large post about how I had seen those topics and had already done what was suggested, but for the heck of it I tried what you said again.

I indeed had Compatibility Mode turned off like I remember doing, but I guess I either never tested it or did and it was a fluke that it didn't work. It certainly seems to be running now. Quite well, in fact.

Boy, do I feel like a horse's ***. Thank you so much for responding. I'm going to go crawl off now and die of embarrassment.
  2. I am admittedly a novice when it comes to laptops, so forgive me if I seem naive about any of this.

I recently bought a new laptop. I didn't go out looking to buy a laptop that would specifically run any games, but once I saw that other MMOs run fine on it I checked the specs against City of Heroes. Sure enough it seems it would run fine, though admittedly not great. That's fine, it would just be to supplement my desktop PC when I couldn't use it.

After dealing with a pesky incompatible graphics driver I was able to get the game running right, or so it seemed.

    My problem:
After the patcher and the loading bar the game has to load the login screen. On my desktop PC this would take maybe 30 seconds tops. For my laptop this takes, with no exageration, 10 minutes. After I log in the menu seems to be fine, if slightly sluggish. However, when I go to enter the game the whole program stops responding altogether. I have gotten the zoning screen to come up and load the bar about 1/8th of the way before locking up, but that was only once.

Maybe I'm overlooking something, I don't know. If this thing just plain won't run the game then so be it, but the mystery of it is bugging the heck out of me.
I'll be checking this thread a lot, so feel free to ask any questions or have me clarify anything. Thank you for any help I may recieve.
