I don't see why it wouldn't be possible with either combination, the Ill/Rad may have a slightly easier time, since it's got something to take the aggro off of the two for a while. But Mind has a good ST attack chain, so you may be able to have a bit more damage there.
The "most impressive" AV encounter I've had was a D3 and an Emp/Son duo against Captain Castillo at about level 20, we had some end issues, but were able to take him down, so I don't see why two rads cant handle it.

Thanks for the info. I am still new to the Controller side of this and was wondering if the two Rad's debuffs stack? Is it possible, or is it unnecessary or unadvisable, to stack two IR's, Two EF, and two LR's.
Basically, due to my time constraints, I plan on dual boxing as much as I can with one of these two combinations. I have played solo for a time, but feel I miss out on so much since I can only play for an hour or two. I did Posi TF this way and very much enjoyed it. I am trying to see what I can do with the other "smaller" task forces (ones that I can get started with the help of only a few people).
Thanks again. -
Is it possible to take down the Clockwork King, and thereby completing the TF, with just a Mind/Rad Controller and a Rad/Sonic Defender? What about the same defender but with a Ill/Rad?
I think I would be able to get through all the rest of the TF, but won't waste my time if I can't finish off the AV.
Thanks. -
Thanks all for the different ideas. I'm still tossing around different thoughts on everything but did roll up a Ill/Rad. I'm level 10 right now and have to admit that it is better than I thought it would. The only pains that I have is that I seem to have large gaps in my attack chain and the AOE is a little weak. I do however love the confuse - it seems to help when the confused MOB actually scores a hit (is it me or do they seem to hit me more and often when they aren't confused - probably not - but I am rambling). I just wish I had an Immobilize as well (TA was very appealing, but I like Rad's debuffs). The psi damage vs the clocks, and later the COT specters, is very nice.
I still am tempted to try a Plant\, but since I am soloing most of the time, the DOT and lack of ST damage is very unattractive. I do like the AOE confuse of Seeds for maximum battlefield chaos.
So I guess my next question, if I continue with this hero, is it possible to take on the Synapse TF by myself, or if I duo with a Rad/sonic defender? I know that there a lot of clocks in that one, so I was curious about going through the missions and whether I can actually take on the AV & GM in that one.
Thanks again. -
I do like deceive, it's utility is amazing. I just wonder about the lack of reliable AOE control and the ability to set up containment quickly. I haven't played one, so I am basing what I see on mids at level 15. Compared to other sets, it looks like I would be in for a lot of single target fighting and burning through a lot of insps. while I aggro quite a bit. Again, I've never played it, so I may be WAY off base. Maybe Flash is a better hold than it appears.
I am very open to being persuaded with tactics I don't see. So I appreciate the input. -
I am trying to come up with a decent hero for running the 'lower level' content and quite possibly something that will keep my interest enough to push through my alt-itis.
I am looking ideally for a Controller that works well mostly solo, with the occasional duo, that can run, for example, the Posi TF. Ideally, I would love to be able to do that solo, but at least a duo. I also have a dream of a character who can actually take on a GM/AV on it's own. I know that Illusion/Rad can do this, but I don't know if it will be able to hold my interest for all the time it will take me to get to 32. I am a casual player, so I prefer a faster pace so I can enjoy the few hours a day I can devote to the game. I usually end up falling back to melee AT, but I always wanted to try the Controller/Defender. I also prefer COH over COV (at least until Going Rogue hits) since I can't stand the constant Longbow missions and the Island's atmosphere.
I had a suggestion for Plant/Rad, which sounds really interesting. Anything else? I ask about the Posi TF mostly because I usually get to early to mid 20's before I start looking elsewhere and I think that TF will be fun to be able to run on my own (being mostly a solo player).
Thanks for all the advice that is offered. -

my dark/dark is a beast

Why /Dark over /sonic? I know the -to hit is nice, but what about the damage? -

I'll try to answer specifically your question of "what would solo the Posi tf better, Dark/ or Rad/?" Both have rich powers by level 15. I think either would be a very good choice for a duo. Dark would offer more safety solo. More -ToHit with a Fear, also more -Dmg. Rad may offer more speed with its +Dmg buff from AM. Still, nothing slows you down more than a trip from the hosp. So to the question "Dark/ or Rad/ for Posi?" I suggest Dark Miasma.
Neither Defender would be my first choice for soloing Posi across all ATs though. I'm thinking Plant/Rad is the way to go. I'm putting my money where my mouth is by making this combo my newest project.

Thanks for the info.
I never considered a Plant Controller. Maybe I'll build something in Mid's and see. It's just combining those primaries with those debuffs and sonic attacks are soooo sweet. -
Yeah, I prefer a corrupter, but I just can't stand the Rouge Islands anymore. And I hate the constant Longbow missions. So boring. If Going Rogue is a true crossover, you can bet I will be rolling up a corrupter for Paragon.
Thanks -
First, I am newer to the defender AT. Tried an Empath but lost interest because of being primarily support and not able to do much solo. So that leads me to wanting to find something that is a little more of an Offender vs. Defender.
I have seen postings and write ups about Rad/Sonic and how effective they are. But I am very intrigued by Dark and it's tools. I like the debuffing of Rad and it seems that Dark has many of the same, just a little different in execution.
So my question is, if I plan on soloing with an occasional duo (mostly for Posi TF) - what does Dark do better than Rad and visa versa? Yes, corrupter would be ideal, but until Rogue hits, I'm really tired of Longbow and those gloomy Islands.
What would be recommended if I'd like something that can handle something like the posi TF (is it possible to even solo with defender?) and handle most missions at a decent speed. I'm not looking for running solo on Cimerora's walls (would be sweet if possible though), but able to take the content and possibly take on a few GM's by myself (a dream I have had ever since being surprised flattened by the Krakken in my early levels for just talking a stroll in the park - I hold grudges).
Thanks to all. -
Thanks, I figured it was something simple that I was overlooking.
That will make my life a lot easier. -
Sorry if this is old hat to everyone, but I am kind of new to the game (this is my first forum post as well) and I have seen many references (and some sweet videos) to the attribute monitor that shows the defense %, last to hit, damage buff, etc. I know about the combat attribute in the power tray, but can't seem to find something that will allow me that nice little window that I can keep out.
Thanks in advance to all.
