Quote:RP it in the sense of Kramer from Seinfeld. He kept snowballs in his freezer until the summer so that he could pelt people out of season. Failing that, use it as someone scraping the frost from their freezer and making snowballs.
Doesn't quite work that way for everyone I'm afraid. -
Quote:While I don't agree with this statement, I can see where there is griefing potential. I wonder if there can be a setting from Null the Gull to not be able to be pelted with a Snowball?
Admittedly I'm being grumpy and hyperbolic, but I was at an in game event just this weekend, where someone would not stop griefing with the snowballs. And multiple polite requests to desist by many many people attending was ignored.
Personally I'm not looking forward to this. But then again various decisions Paragon studios has made has caused me to spend far less time in the game then I have in the past several years I've played. Just one more addition to not make me regret cancelling my sub and spending less time around. But that is neither here nor there. Back to the point, is there will be griefing, there will be unhappy players. I do hope the devs consider the ability disallow being affected by snowballs. I doubt it. But I do hope. -
Quote:heh, you're concerns do no matter to the new glorious direction of City of heroes: nickel and dimed.. Errrr I mean freedom! The days of of being concerned for the small, but loyal RP'ers and long time supporters, is long gone. Long live the days of rushed Packs, and money grabbing. So long as the griefers shell out the cash, they'll keep a light on for em. ;PThe decision to include the snowball power as a permanent option in the Winter Holiday Pack is... interesting.
A number of RPers, while they enjoy a good snowball fight on occasion, find it rather difficult to enjoy their RP if they're dancing at a radio show or just doing their own thing if people continually pelt them with snowballs. Even moreso when the people doing the snowball throwing won't stop if you ask them politely to.
With the inclusion of that power in the pack, there's now no respite from this form of RP griefing. At least before, we knew that if we waited long enough after the event, it'd stop. Now we have all year long to look forward to people who feel the need to keep others from having fun doing what they do. Please reconsider this, or at least let Null the Gull give us the option to not be able to be hit by them (which you probably actually can't do with current tech, sadly).
Cynical, me? -
First off, I want to say this is not an attack at the devs, or anyone else.
I will state, again, as I think I have stated already, that while I think these are step above the look that was seen at comic-con, I still feel they don't fit the way I've come to see the COT over the years and are just a touch too liefeld an McFarlane.
That said, this little rough doodle only exists thanks to a few comments made by some posters that would not keep my mind quiet, as such, I had to do this.
That said, if this is the COT we get, then I suppose I can live with it. Beyond that, very nice of the devs to listen to the fanbase, hope things get resolved in a way that makes everyone happy.
Ok back to my life. -

Quote:Very much agreed with you there. I still feel these COT are over the top, and a touch Liefeld. But if a redesign can't be avoided, and I must settle for this, then I shall.T
My hope is that the devs don't take this positive response as a cue to, say, put the Fifth Column in metallic, purple armor.
Besides I'm worried they might make it worse with any more tweaking and give them a plethora of pouches.
Plus while I smack on them, all the while screaming for my own pope hat so I can create their arch nemesis, the fighting pontiff. -

Thanks for the link, I had missed that.

Perhaps all the pointy bits are their way of saying "Oh god, oh god, not in the face, not in the face." Sort of a porcupine defense? Made of fragile, fragile garments. besides if you're society was composed of fragile, undead bookworks, perhaps this is their way of looking all that more imposing when they attend hogwarts or something.
Also? Some of the screen caps makes it feel like they should be wielding instruments and they've just stepped on stage. Ladies.. and demons... CIRCLE. OF. THORNS!!!!!!! *Guitar blast* OHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! -
I'm more or less on the side of true gentleman here.
Personally I would simply like to know why the new redesign at all? Is it to impress the new kids that will be joining us come freedom?
The new designs, while not total eye sores, almost have a sense to me of old folks trying hard to be hip and impress the kids.
There is something dignified and very silver age about the old COT and something very 90's and image comics about these; "omg spikes, spikes and shoulder pads everywhere." All they lack is a plethora of chains.
Just curious really, as I don't honestly see the need for a change.
The pope hats do make me smile though. I'm certain, It'll feel like I'm punching the daylights out of some strange bizarre offshoot of the catholic church...
They'll just be a little more ~fabulous!~
