  1. What is double spacing and would it help the readablity of things I posted here? Is double spacing done between words or only at the end of sentences or does it refer to between the lines like this:

    insert clever

    message here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
  2. It seems a fairly consistent theme interwoven in this thread and ones like it is the decrying of the nerfs that have, are, and will be done in the game and how that is affecting the amount of people who play.

It would seem that the devs are going to do whatever they want no matter what anyone on the boards or even in game says to the contrary. The point was made that the devs seem to be playing a different game when it comes to the effects they claim to want and how the changes actually affect things. That rather goes without saying. When they put changes in internal testing they test them how they intended the game to be played. When they put them on the test servers they are generally only tested by people who tend to be sycophantic name droppers with regards to the devs. These people will, again, test them how the devs want them to be tested. However, when they hit the live servers the people who are subject to their effects have, seemingly, learned how to play the game far differently than the devs have.

The player base is more effiecient so the devs beat on the game with the nerf bat for a while to try to compensate for the things they couldn't foresee. Experience in developing games doesn't equate to experience in playing them. As long as the devs listen to the wrong people (and people who scream and throw fits here are NOT the 'right' people) then nerfs and the fallout will always be a problem.

I love it when people pull numbers out of their ... you know where.

I wasn't pulling numbers out my [censored]. I was simply questioning someone else having quoted subscriber statistics. Granted, not in this thread, but even in this thread they are claiming numbers are up/down/steady and not saying where they got the info. Perhaps you should read the post before making a snide and back-handed insulting response to it.

I think they were reffering to the numbers you through out of a few thousand. 5 minutes of research and math would show that to be untrue.

Log onto COH at prime time 6PM PST. Do a global search. Odds are you will see 800 to 1200 people logged on to each server. I think there are ABOUT 10 servers. That means 8000-12000 people are logged on at prime time, Many people play only a few times a week or later at night or earlier, etc. Thus one can quickly make a guestimate that the numbers MUST be 30,000 OR more.

As for source a reading of this thread or a search would reveal the source of the numbers. Statesman himself has mentioned the source. One is www.mmogchart.com/ though as was pointed out to him this is out of date. It show 100,000 - 180,000 depending on time period. More recent numbers are also listed with the most recent being 150,000 or so subscribers.
As for the accuracy of these numbers they are released in quarterly reports. Falsification of these reports = federal crimes. While the numbers MIGHT be fudged by 5-10% using neat acounting meathods I can't see much more then that.

I hope that clarifys why some may be a bit upset by your claim of 5000 or so.

I don't take it personally and I hope this post is taken as statements to try to clarify information for you and others, and in no way is it meant as a flame.

PS All numbers are what I remember, and are accurate +/-10% go back and read the messages for EXACT figures.

    Pardon any typos

  5. I just want to know where these "hundreds of thousands" of players are that I was told by someone on a thread were subscribers. Hundreds I can agree with. Thousands... maybe a few thousand (say, no more than 5 thousand, ) on a Friday night or weekend. Can't see it being much more than that though.
  6. This is such a good thread I thought it'd be helpful to see it on the first page of threads again.
