You'll notice the timestamp marks this document as completed a short time after your arrival in this world, specifically before that catastrophe. This means if anyone ever does place you there, all documentation about you will show you were a legally registered hero at the time, with all rights and privileges necessary to enforce what they call the Citizen Crime Fighting Act."

She spent a few minutes explaining exactly what that was and what it entailed, as well as informing Ineloo where she could get more detailed information if she wished, then indicated the registration form again, "All you need to do is check this and make changes where you need or desire. Yes, I mean any at all. Synchronaut Sarkh requested explicitly of me to tell you that although the current name there was his idea, he will take no offense if you choose to change it."

A finger of the Captain's viridian hand pointed to the indicated field, where in the little box below the label 'hero name', a word had been written.

    It read 'Moonbow'...
The halfling smiled as she studied the information which had already been filled in on the form. She hadn't even considered the idea of a 'hero name', but she liked Sarkh's idea, and it also seemed right that she should be given the name by one of her first new friends in this bizarre world.

She filled in the rest of the details with growing confidence as she became more used to the unfamiliar script, then handed the pad back to the captain. "They won't be able to tell it's a forgery, right?"

I understand that's how someone like me can get a little freedom around here." She frowned a little, "I don't understand why the Watch here objected to people dealing with that crazy priest; back home we would have been thanked and most likely given an award."

She looked around again curiously. The halfling was clearly desperate to continue her barrage of questions with anyone who was willing to answer her. She held her tongue though, knowing that this captain was not a woman to cross, and besides, much could be learned by simple observation. There was one thing she had to say though: "Your dress is very pretty, Captain. Do you know if I could get something similar on this world?"

Did she know someone with the name Ops who'd done her some sort of traumatic harm? True, neither were very likely, but Oxana and Sarkh had told him tales of incidents even stranger than such, sparked by a single, seemingly innocuous word.

"Did I say something wrong?" he decided to try and be direct about it rather than attempt a subject change. While personally he'd have much preferred to skirt around something potentially sensitive, it had been drilled into him more than enough times by now that the best way to solve a problem was most often clear and candid communication...
Ineloo actually blushed. It was a long time since she had reacted that way in a social situation, but then again, it was a long time since she had been left feeling so flatfooted during a conversation.

"Um, no. Sorry, I was just trying to figure out who Ops was. I'm not normally this gauche you know..."

She looked around again, trying to see if she could spot some writing somewhere that she might understand. She had generally found that those who could read and write were fond of leaving signs around to give others directions. Maybe this Ops character would be able to explain more about the spell that had brought her here, although Kri seemed to be a very knowledgeable fellow.

"Would he know when I can get to City Hall? I'd at least like to try starting on the right side of the law for this place..." She smiled up at the lizard man in a way that he would hopefully consider winning, "What did you mean about your captain finding things irritating? I guess she prefers people not to dance around the issues at hand?"

It is not often that a request to recall an obituary is received, but that is exactly what happened yesterday evening.

We received the tragic news that Firefighter Jake Patterson died in the line of duty whilst attending a call out yesterday afternoon. No one could be more surprised, however, when a few hours later, Mr Patterson spontaneously revived at the hospital morgue.

Initial reports are that the FBSA will be listing him as an individual with 'Lazurus' powers. That is to say, someone who is capable of coming back from the dead.

It can only be hoped that Mr Patterson does not have to put his newly manifested powers to use too often.

"Oh, I'm Ineloo," she said with a grin, taking the lizardman's offered hand. It was such a relief to see that at least some ways of greeting were apparently universal.

"Your friends seem to know a lot about this place. Is it part of that union thing you mentioned?" the halfling asked, "It's all so different from where I come from - we sometimes get travellers from different planes, but I've never been to one of them. This place certainly doesn't sound like any of the ones I've heard about. Are people with magic common here?" She glanced around again, running her fingers through her short blonde hair and automatically pulling it forward to hide the silvery tattoo-like mark on the side of her face.

He still retrieved a leather garb that formed some mixture of belt and kilt from within his lockup, clipping the piece of attire he'd heard some call 'Valkyre style' about his waist before trying to excuse himself from the barracks, "I'll just go now..."
The halfling stopped her wide-eyed staring and returned her attention to Kri, smiling apologetically. "I'm sorry, it's just been an...interesting...day. I don't know about here, but where I'm from you don't normally get thrown into a new world with no warning!"

She quickly glanced around the locker room again, her eyes settling on the weapon rack curiously. "How do they work? They look much to bulky to be wands and the design would make an awful melee weapon..."

She followed Kri as he moved to leave, having decided that if Sarkh was a dragon who wouldn't immediately try and do something nasty to people, there was a very good chance that his crewmates would be just as civilised. Given the opportunity, she would jabber questions at him until he either answered her, or something interesting distracted her for long enough that he could make his escape.

Not only was the halfling still holding on, but she was laughing with delight. She had been in this world for less than a day, and already she had had more fun here than she had back home in the last month!

Somewhere in the back of her mind was a little voice telling Ineloo that she should probably have been scared of the sudden free fall and the appearance of the flyer that was now being piloted by Sarkh's commanding officer, however she was enjoying it all far too much. Ineloo continued to hold tightly onto the captain, but she leant around to be able to see what was ahead of them.

Though the sound would be carried in the wrong direction, if Oxana were to listen she would be able to hear Ineloo's response to the current situation: "Funfunfunfunfun!!!"

"Come with me please." the Captain reached out to Ineloo, intending to grasp a hand and thus steady her while she pulled the halfling from the harness pocket, "Synchronaut Sarkh has underwater operations to conduct. We'll be getting off here."

The Cerosian in question meanwhile reached into a pocket on his other side, gingerly pulling out a thin rod roughly the size of a police baton with a pair of claws. Once in hand, he reached over his shoulder and held the object out to Oxana.

"Don't worry." he told the halfling with a smirk as the Captain took possession of the short staff, "The Captain is an excellent pilot. She'll take good care of you."

He didn't elaborate on just what he meant by that, instead giving the word back to Oxana, who instructed Ineloo to stand behind her and place both arms about her waist, finishing with, "Then lock your hands together and told on tight..."
The Halfling did as she was bid, barely containing the questions that immediately sprung to mind about the object and how it worked. After all, back home it would certainly have been foolish to distract a mage working a complicated and dangerous spell (unless they were an enemy or it would be funny), so instead she settled for a half-bow to the dragon.

"Thank you for everything Synchronaut Sarkh, have fun!"
  9. Ineloo hadn't been paying attention to much of anything since Sarkh had flown into the air. Instead, she had stuck her head out of her hiding place and was staring around at the city as it passed below them. If anyone had been in the position to look, they would have seen a massive grin plastered over her face as she watched the buildings pass underneath them.
  10. Having followed the dragon's suggestion, Ineloo watched from her hiding place as first the Autobot and his passengers raced off, then Sarkh made a vehicle appear for his captain and the rest of her team. She had to suppress a giggle of delight at that trick - while the mages she knew were inevitably too pompous and sure of themselves most of the time, she always enjoyed it when they performed their impressive feats of magic.

As the captain was clearly planning on leaving the scene soon, Ineloo hoped that they would still be stopping off at the City Hall at some point. Having seen the trouble that could come from not having one of these 'Hero Licenses', she wanted to get one as soon as possible. If for no other reason than to make sure she had the opportunity to stay out of the way of these overzealous police.

Not wanting to draw any attention to Sarkh's pocket, she scrunched down, while still keeping an eye on what was going on out on the street.
  11. The cacophony of the massed guns of the police made Ineloo flinch as they fired at the wall that now stood between them and the dimensional refugees. One thing she was rapidly learning was that the ordinary people of this world had access to much louder and more destructive weapons than her home. It was bizare enough to hear one such weapon, but when there was a score of them barking flame and deadly force at once the effect was overwhelming for the little Halfling.

Ineloo clamped her hands over her ears in an attempt to reduce the noise and backed away; a course of action that just so happened to leave her standing under the belly of the dragon she had been talking to. Once she realised where she was, she quickly ducked behind one of his forelegs. With any luck, he would continue to shield her from the roar of the weapons pointed in their direction and not decide that she was either a nuisance fit only for a light snack or forget she was there and sit.
  12. Ineloo looked to Sarkh's captain for her cue, having already stated that she would go with them to the City Hall, she didn't want to end up going in the wrong direction.

Other than that, she made sure her bow and quiver were secure on her back and concentrated on being inconspicuous - the armed and uniformed men around them were clearly this world's version of the City Watch, and her usual occupation was not one they were normally inclined to look on kindly. That said, if she kept quiet and was really lucky, maybe they wouldn't notice her and she'd be able to slip away when the rest of them left.

He certainly wasn't dropping any hints while he introduced himself with a somewhat more amicable (and less toothy) smile, "I am Sarkh. Synchronaut 1st Class. Well...most of the time."
Ineloo giggled, "Nice to meet you Synchronaut 1st Class Sarkh. I like a person with a sense of humour."

"Agreed." Oxana looked in Mirel's direction for a moment, then guided her steps toward the spot the woman had indicated, "However, we'd do well to choose a more appropriate location. As those who stayed with us earlier, and probably some more of you, already know, your best chance of finding the answers you want is to come to a building termed 'City Hall'. We're currently on our way there and more than willing to serve to guide."

"First though, what's it exactly that you speak of?" the Captain wanted to know from her as she picked from the street one of Esau's guns, the slightly singed firearm having skidded to a stop here after being thrown clear of the explosion, "If you mean the projection, that was immaterial. There's nothing there for anyone to move. If you mean these..."

She raised the artfully engraved weapon laying flat in the palm of her hand, then without warning snapped her fingers about it and crushed the thing into a mangled mess of metal.

"Toys." the words she spoke as she listlessly let the destroyed gun fall to the asphalt held an unimpressed dryness clearly audible despite the electronic modulation of her voice, "They're not worth our attention..."
The Halfling watched with an impressed expression as the weapon was crumpled and dropped like an old scrap of paper, "That was fantastic! Are you normally that strong or do you have something like a belt of giant strength? Those can be pretty hard to get a hold of, you know. Is it something to do with why your voice sounds strange, or is that normal for your people? When are you going to the City Hall? I'll come with you so long as you don't go too fast..."

She would have continued her barrage of questions if she hadn't been distracted by something else in this new and strange world. The rest of her interrogation forgotten for the moment, Ineloo stared at the scene around her, looking much like a child let loose in a toy store trying to decide what to go and play with first.

A while back, there was a half-elf merchant who had me break into his warehouse and reset everything so that anyone trying to get in would have more trouble. The halfling shrugged and gave him a winning smile, "Well, you're blue. Where I'm from that means you're going to be the kind of dragon that kills a person because they're in a bad mood, they want something, or because it's funny. You're not planning on doing anything like that are you?" Then she grinned at them both cheekily, "I'm Ineloo by the way. Halfling, Dragonmarked, security and wealth redistribution specialist."
  16. Ineloo sighed with relief. This whole world seemed to be ridiculous! To be fair, there was a lot of trouble one could get into back home, but this just seemed to be on an entirely new level. The proliferation of mechanical devices and magic that were so casually used by the most mundane of people, not to mention the obviously powerful mages who flew through the air as if it was as easier than walking.

Returning the bow to her back, she glanced over the scene around the tram that was now resting safely on the ground and the two beings that were with it. She frowned as she looked over at the tracks - a chromatic dragon, blue, universally evil and prone to attack as soon as they noticed you, had not only helped the strange Warforged set the vehicle on the ground, but now seemed to be having a calm and reasonable conversation with him. Her first instinct was to run and avoid whatever nefarious plan the dragon had in mind, but her curiosity won out; perhaps he was not evil after all. This world was considerably different from Eberron, it would follow that the rules had changed.

Seeing that the healers were already dealing with the situation, and always preferring the direct approach to a conundrum, she sauntered over to the two. "If I may ask, what exactly are you both, and where are you from?" She chirped in her child-like voice, "You are both quite different from what I have learned to expect..."
  17. Ineloo watched in horror as the explosion tore a hole in the track, the grease that she had managed to splatter on the underside igniting and sending up flames and a plume of black smoke. When she saw the approaching vehicle, she swore loudly, using words that, while probably unheard of here, would have made the sailors at the dockside inns in Stormreach proud.

Desperate to do something that might prevent a greater loss of life, she swiftly switched her arrow for more of the binding ones and loosed them at the damaged track, trying to create a net that might just be able to catch the train before it could slam into the ground.
  18. If I remember correctly, the Rikti are also the reason why the Circle of Thorns has (comparatively) recently reared it's ugly head. The Rikti infiltrated tunnels underneath Paragon City which happened to be part of Orenbega. The Circle pushed them out and followed them to the surface. Hence the reason why the Circle doesn't seem to be a problem over in Praetoria - no Rikti war, no Rikti to make them leave their tunnels.
  19. ((It was. And remind me how well missiles go with monorail type structures ))
  20. Ineloo had hastily ducked back behind the dumpster when the thrown collar had come in her direction. While most of the others may have been caused nothing more than a little discomfort by it, being around 3'5", she would probably have been knocked silly by it had the thing hit her. When she snuck a look back out she also saw the shattered remains of the arrow she had sent at him lying on the ground. It was rather annoying to find that the man had actually shot it out of the air! Although, to give credit where credit was due, he was clearly a pretty decent marksman.

Discarding the shield and rifle, he held up an arm to receive his returning collar, onto which he attached a cord. Using his environments to his advantage, the priest flung his boomerang collar upwards onto the nearby monorail tracks and began retracting it like a grappling hook.

As he did so, the claw mechanism along his arms shot forth three metal blades with which he would hold his attacker hostage. With one arm he tried to trap the woman, to hold her against his chest, choke her tightly by the throat as he hastily made escape onto the monorails.
The Halfling couldn't help but giggle at the crazy priest's comment as one of the others present slammed into him and knocked him sprawling across the floor. "You're as bad as some of the wizards I've met!" she smirked, watching his passage up to the tracks running overhead. Then she grinned broadly and, hoping she'd worked out how her quiver operated, pulled what should be an arrow primed with a greasy liquid. Ineloo loosed it not at the holy man, but at the underside of the tracks.

Assuming nothing knocked it off course again, the goop would coat the surface with a slippery substance that would make it extremely difficult to climb along, whilst having no effect on the vehicles that ran over the top side. Hoping that her actions would have been sufficient to prevent his escape, Ineloo moved away from her cover so that she would be able to get a clear shot at the next opportunity, pulling a blunt, weighted arrow that she would fire at the first chance she got.
  21. Ineloo rolled her eyes. This lot clearly weren't the type to show restraint; certainly not the kind that would be required to disarm a poison or fire trap with any level of success. She made a mental note not to invite any of them along on any jobs she pulled while she was here, then shook her head in irritation. She was not going to immediately fall foul of this world's laws...not yet anyway...

She stepped out from behind the dumpster she was crouched by and, taking a moment to check her aim, she loosed the binding arrow at the crazy priest - if it hit, maybe he'd get tangled up with the metal transport. Assuming her aim wasn't entirely off of course.

Ineloo frowned as she listened to the chatter the Warforged was playing back for the group. She might not have the best of relationships with the 'authorities' back home, but if she was going to make any attempt at staying here, she didn't want to get on the bad side of them. At the same time, having them owe her a favour or two was only sensible for someone of her background.

She was playing with her new ring as she focused on the reported location when she suddenly disappeared from amongst the group which had been listening. Moments later, the Halfling appeared, standing right next to the leather clad lunatic who was busy firing, apparently indiscriminately, at everyone in the area.

"Crazy warrior priest!" She yelped and frantically glanced around whilst playing with her ring again. Fortunately she seemed to have the knack for how it worked, and she reappeared in the shadow of a dumpster some forty feet away. Hopefully before the priest noticed her and decided to use her for target practice.

Ineloo pulled another binding arrow from her quiver and kept to the shadows to watched as the man continued his attack, ready to assist as soon as the others turned up to deal with him.
