And the record just keeps on dropping! We had a reasonable spawn time last night, and then shattered the record yet again with a 19-minute raid!
Special thanks, as always, to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Grim Maligne, Kiddygrade, New Corpsman, Rotting Omen, Nuclear Target, and Clan Nurse. Outstanding work by you all!
Hope to see you at the raid next week! -
Thanks to everyone who came out last night for the raid. We had a reasonably quick spawn time, followed by a record-breaking raid. Thanks, in part, to the "no reset" strategy changes, and the heads up play by everyone involved, we managed to beat our own record for a public raid (without nukes or temps of any kind) with a 23-minute raid.
Thanks as always to the support folks on my team, along with my team leaders: Nuclear Target, Vorador, Kiddygrade, Grim Maligne, and Saint Andrew. You guys were great!
Hope to see everyone next week! -
Thanks to everyone who came out for the raid this evening. We had such a quick spawn that we didn't really have the EoEs to do the "no reset" strat. Despite this, however, we still managed to take Hami down in a crisp 28 minutes--just two minutes over our first no-reset raid two weeks back.
Special thanks, as always, to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Street Stalker, Clan Nurse, Celtic Apparition, Grim Maligne, and Kiddygrade. Outstanding work, as usual!
Hope to see you there next week! -
Quote:Not at all...just a word of encouragement that it can be done, and temps aren't necessary even though a lot of folks on other servers who have posted fast completion times have been unable to pull it off at all without them.Aight y'all. That sounds like a challenge to me. Freedom can do this faster.
I'll even help.
And yes, it can certainly be done faster, even without temps. We had a little bit of a delay on the obelisks, so we're looking to shave as much as 5 minutes off of that time on our next run. -
Go ahead and give it a shot, guys. The Twilight Avengers on Guardian server knocked it out blueside in 17 minutes without any nukes or other temp powers, so it IS doable. The key, as you mentioned, is proper toons and coordination.
Good luck! -
You can do it, guys. TA took it down blueside tonight in 17 minutes without any Nukes, shivans, or other temps, so I'm sure you can handle it!
Good luck! -
Thanks to everyone who came out last night. We managed to pull off Guardian's first public no-exit strategy raid, and did so in just 26 minutes. Very nicely done by all present!
As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: DESTROIKA, Grim Maligne, Nuclear Target, Rotting Omen, Ariel', and Kiddygrade. Outstanding work, as always!
If there is a raid next week, it will happen without the Twilight Avengers, as we are going to be doing things as a guild during the Going Rogue launch. If someone else wants to step up and lead the raid, by all means do so, and feel free to catch me in-game for the macros I use (if you want them).
We will be back to lead again in two weeks. Hope to see you then! -
Is there still interest in public redisde Hami raiding on this server? Our guild has sponsored a few of these now, and the first two were very well attended and went quite smoothly. The last one, of course, had to be postponed because there weren't enough people on to run this strategy.
Our guild is glad to run these if there is still interest out there. However, we quite frankly don't want to go to the trouble of setting it up only to have a handful of people show up. We raid on our own as a VG, so it's not a big deal to us one way or another, but we'll schedule another raid if there are enough folks who want to participate.
So, what say you, Pinnacle...redside public Hami raid or no? -
Congratulations to everyone who came out to raid tonight. We were able to get started right on time, had a quick spawn, and then shattered the public non-nuke raid record (formerly 28 minutes) with an amazing 25-minute raid. Kudos to everyone who participated!
As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, in addition to my team leaders: Saint Andrew, Grim Maligne, Kiddygrade, Danger Close, and Sausage Toes. You guys rock!
For those first-timers out there, you got to be a part of history, and I hope you'll return. If you missed out, maybe you can be a part of the next history-making event. So I hope to see you all next week! -
Quote:Unfortunately, our guild has its villains on the Pinnacle server, so we simply don't have the toons on the server to do so. I know there has been interest expressed previously in a redside raid on Guardian, and perhaps even an attempt or two. But nothing successful to my knowledge. Is there any chance of one of these Raids being run Villian side?
I appreciate blue is more busy but there are players redside. If the event is advertised in advance, pretty sure we could get one together.*
You guys seem very good at organizing these things so how about it? Red jello for a change?
There is a possibility that Going Rogue will potentially take some of our heroes down a darker path. If that happens, and I think we have enough to run an efficient redside raid, then our guild will be glad to do so--potentially even back-to-back with blueside on Wednesday nights. But for now, it's going to have to be someone else who takes the lead. Incidentally, the strat that we use for the public raids on the Pinnacle server (raids in 40 min or so from entry to exit) is posted on those forums, so anyone who wants to use it, feel free. -
Quote:Glad to have you run with us, Muon. Allow me to address your comments and/or questions in order.I was one of those first timers. I had a FF defender, and I think I ended up on the catch all team as the guy I was told to follow wasn't on that team. Wasn't exactly sure what was going on all the time, but I had fun.
I was a bit curious, as while that defender is my only 50 for now, I do have a few more approaching that level.
Are there any particular build or powerset necessities for tanks aside from having taunt? Does taunt itself have to be slotted any particular way? I know that the hamidon damage ignores normal resistance and defense, so is a self heal a must? Is normal tanker mez protection sufficient, or are breakfrees needed? I've got a shield tank coming up through the 40s, and now that I know these raids exist I'm wondering if she'd be useful.
For other ATs, I imagine scrapper and blaster roles are pretty straightforward. From what I saw, emp and rad seem to be desirable support sets for auras and AM. What about other support sets, are there any that bring anything especially useful?
Yes, you ended up on the "catch-all" team so you'd have buffs going in and a tp/rezzer, if needed. Normally if you arrive a little earlier, we'll get you on a team that is led by the person you would target through.
For this strat, any tanker will work as long as it has two things: taunt and at least mag 10 KB protection. That may mean IOs and/or Acrobatics for some primary powersets, but nothing that's not fairly easy to attain.
Taunt ideally should have at least one level 50 range IO in it. This allows you to stay as far as possible from the mito you're taunting, preventing the splash damage from hitting the scrapper team when they come through, lessening the amount of blue mito aggro you get, and making it easier for the empaths to move around without having to enter the cyto.
Self heals are always helpful, but will sometimes be ineffective. This is because there is a -heal debuff that you can get on you--specifically when taunting Hami. This shouldn't be an issue taunting the yellow mitos, however. Also, that -heal debuff does not affect powers that increase your total HP, such as Dull Pain, so those powers are very nice to have. In addition, any powers that provide +regen are of significant help, since you will occasionally get green mito shots that carry a -regen debuff.
As for mez protection, your normal amount likely won't be enough if you start getting hit by blue mitos, as many powersets don't have fear protection at all. For this reason, the aggro team always has empaths on it to stack Clear Minds on you. So, again, any of the standard tanker mez protection powers will do.
Your Shield Tanker would, indeed, be a viable toon for the aggro team. You would want Active Defense and True Grit specifically, since one provides your mez protection and the other gives both +HP and +resistance to toxic damage (which is the only kind of typed damage in Hami at this point). If you're looking to build it specifically for using at Hami, get as much +HP in True Grit as you can.
As for other ATs and powersets that are uesful, you noted the main ones. Scrappers and blasters, as you mentioned, provide the raw melee and ranged damge that are needed to take down the yellow and blue mitos, respectively.
As for support toons, emps and rads will always be the most highly desireable, due to the nature and power of their buffs and debuffs. After those two, it is a bit of a dropoff to the next tier. Darks and Sonics and FFs are okay, since they each have an AoE toggle that provides some team mez protection, in addition to single target buffs or debuffs that can likewise be useful. And no one should ever complain about having a kin on the team. Most of the rest of them, specifically including stormers, traps, and trick arrows, don't really contribute except with their other powerset (whether holds or ranged damage).
I hope that helps. If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop me a PM. -
Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the raid tonight. It was a pretty quick spawn, followed by a 34 minute raid. I know that, once again, we had a number of first-timers along for the ride, and the zone filled up quickly, so I hope everyone is planning ahead for next week.
As always, special thanks goes to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Twilight Crimson, Celtic Apparition, Danger Close, Kiddygrade, and Sausage Toes. Outstanding work, as usual!
Hope to see everyone there next week! -
Well, for whatever reason, I guess tonight wasn't a good night for folks to raid. We had fewer than 30 people in the zone at raid time, waited an additional 15 minutes, and still only had 32. And while our guild can raid with significantly fewer than that, this strategy calls for 38 or so. As such, the raid was postponed until a later date. I'll post that date within the next week or so.
My apoligies to those who showed up and were ready to raid, only to have the raid postponed. I've rarely had to do that, and never before on a redside public raid. As such, I trust it will not be necessary next time. The decision to postpone, of course, had nothing to do with you or your ability to follow instructions, but rather was based on sheer numbers, and I hope you will join us for the next one. -
Just a reminder that the next Twilight Avengers sponsored redside Hami raid will be one week from today at 9:30 p.m. eastern. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the Hami raid last night, both before and after the server drop. I know a number of folks went through the first three waves and then left when the servers didn't immediately come back up. To those folks, I'm sorry you missed out on the rest of the raid and the reward, and hope you'll come back and participate again next week.
To the folks who hung around and were able to finish the last wave when the servers came back up, well done. We didn't have the numbers or the team set-ups anywhere close to what they had been, but we were able to go through that last wave fairly easily. A part of the reason was that we also got some help from a few folks who hadn't been able to get into the Hive earlier, filling in for a few folks that couldn't or didn't return. So thanks to those folks for stepping up as well.
To those of you who were experiencing their first post-i9 Hami raid last night--and I know there were a few--don't judge the raiding experience from last night's run. Those kinds of things rarely happen, and we're usually done well before 11 p.m. eastern.
The ironic thing is that, including JUST the time that we were actually taking Hami down (and not the server downtime), the raid was only about 35 minutes or so.
Thanks to my team leaders (Grim Maligne, Sausage Toes, DESTROIKA, Madame Veronica, Celtic Apparition, and Sleight of Hand) throughout the raid, as well as the support folks on my team. Outstanding work as always!
Hope to see everyone again next week....and that the server will wait until we're completely done this time! -
If I remember correctly, one of the devs (think it was Posi) said in a Q & A that the Hamidon was hibernating or dormant or some such for now. Sounds like it might be a possibility down the road, but not for launch.

Saturdays are going to be kind of hit and miss for me over the next month or so, as I'll be traveling quite a bit for work. However, getting you the macros I use is no problem. Anyone in particular I should contact?

Quote:A couple of things:I know that you host Blue Side Hami Raids, but have you ever considered doing Red Side?
The reason I'm asking is because I've decided on my WP/DM brute to be my red badger, and I found out that there is an exploration badge down where Hami is in the Abyss. I would like to try to do a Red Side Hami Raid, even if that badge was not there, but I don't know how to lead a raid.
First, our guild has its villains on the Pinnacle server, and we lead redside public raids over there. When Going Rogue hits, this may change, but nothing has been decided on that score as of yet.
Second, the exploration badge is under the water in the center of the crater where Hami spawns in the Abyss whether you spawn and defeat Hami or not, so there's nothing to prevent you from getting it even if you can't raid.
Last, there have been a number of folks who have expressed an interest in a redside Hami raid on these forums previously, but I believe they ran into a lack of interest/numbers. You may want to look at some of the older threads on the subject and get in touch with those folks to see if you can coordinate something with them.
If you decide to try to organize one, the villain strategy our guild uses to run public raids on the Pinnacle server is listed on those forums in a thread called "The Twilight Avengers Villaind Hamidon Raid Strategy", and is a modification of the blueside one we use on Guardian. If you have questions about it, feel free to give me a yell.
Hope that helps! -
I lead Hamidon raids on the Guardian server blueside every Wednesday night, and the strat is posted and stickied at the top of the forums for that server. We usually take him down in 30-40 minutes (from initial entry to reward) depending on the exact make-up of the teams and how well people follow instructions--and that includes exiting after each bloom to reset (which you may have to do if the majority of the folks are not used to raiding Hami).
Rather than re-inventing the wheel, why not use one that has been proven to work consistently--whether the one we use or one from another server? -
The next Twilight Avengers sponsored raid will, indeed, be Thursday, June 17th, at 9:30 EST. Mark your calendars in ink, and we'll see you there!
-
Thanks to everyone who came out this evening. We were short on numbers (did most of the raid with 39 folks), and the team make-up wasn't quite what we usually hope to see, but we still managed to take Hami down in 40 minutes after a quick spawn.
Special thanks as always to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: X43, Kiddygrade, Mind Trick, Sausage toes, and Grim Maligne.
Hope to see you all next week! -
Yes, the problem has been fixed. And yes, the Twilight Avengers are planning another sponsored raid. At the moment, the date is not set in stone. I'm on the road a lot for work atm, and I don't want to conflict with other server events (such as the Pinnacle Cup).
As such, I'm tentatively aiming for Thursday, June 17th, at 9:30 p.m. for the next redside raid. I will let you know when we have set the date in stone, but go ahead and mark your calendars...in pencil. -

Quote:It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is the case. Of course, if it is, then I would prefer that he say that rather than posting a message that seems to suggest it will happening so quickly.Wolf, he probably meant that he'd be fixing it on an internal build then; it usually takes some time for those fixes to filter from that internal build to the test server and then to live. As a guess the next test server build may well have his fix.
I seem to remember BaB mentioning something about having fixed something internally awhile back and that it would get to us in an upcoming patch, but they were programing a couple of patches ahead at that time.
In any case I can sympathize with being sidelined by a bug. As many of those bugs as we have currently I wouldn't be surprised if we get quite a few patches in the next couple weeks.
Honestly, I think the problem may be the difference between being "fixed" from a dev's point of view and a player's point of view. To the dev, it's "fixed" when the errant code is identified and corrected, regardless of when the actual patch will go through and the players will be able to experience it properly on the live server. To the player, it's "fixed" when it works the way it's supposed to on the live server (since that's what the players are paying for), especially when there were supposedly no changes made to the Hamidon or the mitos in i17. -
