"I'm Acanous, and I'm on the side of getting out of this here sewer and back to my nice clean base."
-
Knocked suddenly out of his thought, Acanous was momentarilly shocked. He stepped back, his newfound balance still precarious.
"What the... Who are you?" he asked pointedly of the newcomer. -
Honestly, who STEALS a City of Heroes time code? I mean, I could see the WoW populace doing that, but CoH? People, WTF?
I'm gonna assume it's RMT behind it. I'd hope none of my gaming buddies steal the game, that's just plain stupid. -
Acanous stumbled through the aquaduct, regaining his balance and bearing. Still hurt, but not severely, he righted himself and walked with only a slight hobble.
Emergency lighting lent a sickly yellow-green ambiance to the brick walls and viscous fluids coursing through the man-made channels.
Normally, Acanous hate dtrodding through the sewers. No ammount of gate cheatery could help him from at getting at least SOME unidentifiable substances on or inside his armour during a fight, and it was a pain to have to go through the barrage of tests for verious diseases every time he got back.
Really, he was glad for the check-up, better than have a septic infection in some cut or scrape that could result from fighting in a sewer, but the problem remained- sewers were dank, dirty, filled with who-knows-what, and they SMELLED. That kind of smell you just can't wash out for a few days.
this one wasn't that bad, actually. The floral scent was getting stronger, and seemed to actually be filtering out some of the more wretched odours of man-made biohazardous material.
He'd propably only need to shower four or five times to get the smell out. Heck, he might be able to KEEP this suit.
Floating in the brine, he caught a glimpse of a person.
Shocked, he went over, prodding with a boot.
It caved in readilly. Disgusted, he pulled his foot back, seeing that he was mistaken. It wasn't a body, just a Crey uniform, sans occupant.
Bizzarre, what some people threw out down here.
Who knows? Maybe the owner was stationed in the sewers for a mission and figured burning it was too much effort.
Wiping his boot off on the walkway, he continued making his way through the sewer tunnels, looking for an exit.
they need some friggin manholes in this city... -

8) A Pony, named Princess Marcian Tobay the Third Esquire Jr. I shall than hug her, and squeeze her, and call her George.
[/ QUOTE ]
You realise that would require Marcian to shag a mare, right? -
((Eh, in that case I'll TP the puddle. Still, those shells had to go through building before they hit the beast, and if they were splodey shells, the floor would have given out sooner rather than later. Also, landbound things can have a lot more armour than aircraft. Things that would rip a jetfighter apart would bounce off a tank. Literally, in some cases [yay bouncy bullets]. Will edit to account for the splosions.)

Considering there's two little girl gamerz on their way in the next 6 months in my SG alone, you betcha.
[/ QUOTE ]
Jeez, LM, now you're making me want to come up with a creative nickname for my little one so she'll fit in with our SG babycrew.
[/ QUOTE ]
Baby Elf doesn't work for you?
Quickening's is going to be hard - her hubby also games and goes by Mindlock. BabyMind? Quickbaby? *shrugs*
[/ QUOTE ]
*sigh* I have been thinking about this. We don't have a cool ready-made baby handle for when our little girl is born. Maybe we should hold a contest
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, girl? Pardon the stereotyping, but how about BabyLock?
Also, Quickling.

I vote for Kid Quick. -
hehe, I remember that post in Virtue about creating a Wonderland themed SG. Good job on it, make sure to post pics again when you start raiding >.>

(OOC: and now Ac's alone, trapped in the sewers, and propably gonna end up glancing off some Devouring Earth. Wonder where Anth is?)

Acanous' slide took him exactly where he wanted to be, underneath the Ultra.
Surprisingly, nobody even tried to prevent it, and he felt abashed at the waste of a perfectly good surprise maneuver.
[ QUOTE ]
"You've got 15 seconds"
[/ QUOTE ] came from behind him, over his shoulder- and then things got really loud. Pieces of rubble began flying everywhere. Acanous screamed as he clutched at his ears- the dark shielding dampened it somewhat, but not nearly enough to stop the pain that was reverbirating through him with the waves of noise.
Exploding Bullets ripped into the structure. The Ultra's bulk was a welcome redoubt from the hail of Red-hot artillary. and debris.
He stayed flat against the floor, practically curled in the fetal position under the falling monster.
The pillars gave out, walls collapsed, the ceiling hit the Ultra, who in turn fell to the floor, covering Acanous like some sort of dark grenade as literally tonnes of infastructure broke it's back.
The hail of explosive rounds tore into the room, the walls, the Ultra, and the remaining support structures.
Then the floor gave out.
Acanous was pretty battered, but not nearly so bad as someone in the same situation would be if they diddn't have a 5-metre armour-plated meat-shield (Muahaha three dashes in one sentance!), or what was left of one, between him and the oncoming ceiling.
So when the floor fell out from under him, he was in a rather good spot to make the most of it.
Still reeling from the sonic onslaught, he managed a roll into the newly broken sewer main that had appeared under him. The remains of the Ultra likewise fell, but in a far more "Whumph" fashion.
Bits of building followed them in, sealing the hole. Muted, the pounding continued as the Malta's guns continued emptying into the wreckage above.
A slight creaking came from the pipes around him, signalling that the area was likely to give out any moment now.
Fighting his way to his knees, Acanous emptied his guts liberally into the brakkish green water, adding his own acrid ingredient to the already nausiating stink that permiated the corridors of the sewer.
no time to feel sorry for myself...
He stood slowly, using a hand on the wall to steady himself.
Grabbing at his belt with the other, he unhooked a small disc, and tossed it to the floor near the Ultra's pitted body.
Crimson runes started to flow outward as it began growing upwards, like a bizarre metal-hued tornado.
Soon, it's shape contorted into a fully-deployed raid disruptor pylon.
Acanous tapped on it twice while drawing a ragged breath, then stumbled for the nearest door.
That signal could pierce dimensional barriers. It shouldn't have too much trouble getting to the ULTRA base from here. Von Auger would get his sample, and me? well, I'll find some way back out eventually.
He coughed liberally, leaning against the stone flood controll wall. Closing his eyes, he tried to catch his breath.
Thankfully, the tunnel he was in diddn't reek as bad as the one he had just come through. Heck, it smelled almost like flowers. Flowers in a garbage disposal, but it was better than crap.
edited for explosive rounds. -
The meaty metal-clad hand swatted him into the wall with the irrisistable force that reminded Acanous of Jack-in-irons back in Croatoa.
Absentmindedly he wondered who would win if the two of them got in a fight.
Still, that did little for his situation. Trusting his combat training, he spun a little in the air, connecting feet-first, using the momentum to bend his legs. Like a spring, he kicked out at the wall, taking some impact damage, but propelling him forwards.
The metal wall behind him cracked at the stress of Ac hitting it with a good deal of force in such a small area. Propably would have been fine if not for the chemicals eating away at it, but as it was, the pitted wall started to crumble.
Acanous, however, was watching for another swat attempt- or worse, that big heat cannon. His leap from the wall was a 70 degree angle from the Ultra, and he'd timed it so he could react with the next blast.
catching the floor only briefly to correct his angle, he tried coming at it from the most unexpected direction he could think of- below it.
Punishing his sore feet, he sprung low, like a baseball player. It looked like he was aiming for it's belly, but he was intending on pulling a slide to end up behind it. -
The leeched energy washed over his outlined form, making Acanous glow an odd white-purple-black. He leaped for the Ultra's head, which seemed to be the only place that thermocannon wouldn't be able to hit (As it's back mounted >.>
He had seen it's startling resilliance, and so diddn't pull his punches- When he attacked, he tried pulling on every otherworldly energy he could find, slamming the Ultra with a few quick blows
(Shadow Punch, Smite Shadow Punch-Buzzsaw with Chance for NE and Chance for Lethal on Shadow Punch, and chance for NE on Smite >.> Works pretty well in game )
With the extra energy from the Soul Drain along with the chemical burns AND the chance of pulling extra damage, there was a pretty good chance the Ultra would feel this. -
The Arachnos troops fighting the Ultra had been quickly cut down to a third.
What few remained were huddled in Jake's dispersion bubble, frantically blasting the thing.
With a good deal fewer bullets than 5 seconds ago.
What troops haddn't already fallen or run into the golden glow of O-portals earned some measure of respet for thier bravery.
Well, either that or some ammount of caution, as you'd have to be insane to keep up against something that big when it just wiped out half your force, and ranks were already breaking.
He ran a count of the Arachnos troops still standing and combat ready. 4 Bane spiders, 3 Malta, 1 Arbiter, 5 Bots of verying stature.
wonder what's keeping Anth and the girl? Eh, she's propably slowing him down. That and the chopper might have something to do with it...
Smoke clearing, he shrugged. Opportunity like this rarely presented itself so readilly.
Tapping on his HuD, he spoke quickly and softly.
"Doc, This thing is GM Level. Requesting a tactical missile strike at my location."
U.L.T.R.A. Base, Warburg
Monitors hummed and computers beeped, processing the request and calculating damage to the area. Given the recent attack, and the military lockdown currently at the airfield, the likelihood of civillian casualties was nil. Any structural damage could be blamed on the creature, and the chances that the thing could be brought down without ballistic support, given TacCom data accrued from Ac's HuD were- to a word- Nil.
The Launch codes were entered, missile sequences started, and the Warburg missile shot into the sky, trailing black smoke.
It never made it to orbit. Dissappearing in a black-on-black sphere, it simply reappeared inside the Weaver Airfield terminal.
Weaver Airfield
From Acanous' viewpoint, it looked surprisingly like a missile had just appeared from his chest, blossoming into a purple cloud with an explosion that would have shattered the windows- had any remained.
Chemical agents specifically designed to weaken armour and energy fields settled over the battle like a hurricane, the high winds boring acrid chemicals into cracks in armour and shorting out equiptment. Anyone with skin exposed would be having a rather bad day, as the stuff itched and burned to boot.
Acanous looked rather grim. It was too bad they decided to use the Chemical agent. He was really hoping for some large-scale destruction. Ah well, the cloud would persist for a good 3 minutes or so, and wouldn't touch anything negatively shielded.
Propably why Von Auger chose it. That, and deniability. Arachnos might get world-stomping pissed if they had fired a nuke, even a small one.
The problem with such clouds was that if you WERE negatively shielded, they drew a rather detailed outline of you in purple mist. Shrugging, Acanous lept into the group of Arachnos on the floor, and began absorbing all the ambiant energy he could get from them.
Noticing that the arbiter was the same one as before, he cracked with the wise.
"Fancy seeing you here. One more rescue from giant unstoppable forces today, and you get a fourth one free!" -
Sign me up, I have a plethora of unused cahractors with storeys begging to be told.
-
As the lazer barrage and plasma volleys cycled into scattered automatic gunfire, Acanous got a better look at the creature blocking off the corridor, and surrounded by Arachnos troops.
The Gluenade had the decency to spatter it's gunk only in a localized area. That made Ac phenominally happy. He hated being webnaded with a firey passion.
That Thermocannon, however, was getting uncomfortably close with it's broad sweeps.
Acanous wished that the situation diddn't call for stealth and tact, he had the best pun saved up for "Uncomfortably energetic" situations.
The loss of a good pun paled to the carnage before him. Arachnos troops were getting rather ripped up by energy fire.
Just in case he ended up having to fight the thing, Ac started counting the seconds between bursts.
Just then, a voice piped up in his ear.
It was the good doctor again, snooping in on the fight.
[u]"Get me a zample off zat zing. Ve could clone it, study it, Use it for our ends."[u]
He breathed an elongated sigh as the mission objective appeared on his HUD.
'Capture sample of strange creature- Don't let Arachnos agents escape with sample!'
At least now I know what side I'm on
Hopefully, the thing and the Arachnos troops would weaken each other enough that Acanous would be able to slip in and finish off the winner.
Either way it went, he'd wait for Anthius before going in. That hail of bullets was just as stupid and painfull as the plasma that preceeded it. -

Nyx looked over the airfield, "So what are we looking for here anyway?"

No sooner had the words left her mouth then
[ QUOTE ]
The helicopter's rear went up in a brilliant fireball, shrapnel speeding away in all directions as the fuselage spun madly out of control, trailing a long plume of thick, black smoke as the aircraft hit the tarmac in flames, its main rotor chewing into the ground and right through a support van, utterly shredding the hapless vehicle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Acanous gestured with his thumb.
"I'm pretty sure it's that."
Stepping slightly out of balance with the world, Acanous became rather difficult to see, appearing more as a two-dimensional shadow than a three-dimensional person. His words seemed slightly distorted by the Cloak of Darkness.
"Come on, let's have a look at what caused that explosion. If we're in luck, it hasn't moved."
Activating more of his extradimensional shielding, he jumped from the rooftop to the tarmac, pressing himself into a crouch.
Looking through the window, Acanous was glad he was shrouded with so much negative energy- looking at that much burning Plasma would propably blind someone whose eyes were un-shielded. Even so, he could catch glimpses of energy blades and moving plated musculature through the smoke and fire.(The Ultra is 5 metres tall, after all.)
Gesturing for his allies almost absentmindedly, he tried to get a better look inside the building. The Shattered windows and Force Fields helped, offering the smoke an exit and shunting it away from the troops.
He could see at least 2 full details of Bane Spiders, as well as various robots and an Arbiter- maybe two? (Yes I know there's 3).
He appraised the situation as "Stupid", with a low survival rate for anyone who walked into that firestorm.
Still, he really diddn't intend to walk. Knowing that Anthius would already assume he wouldn't wait, Acanous jumped over the broken window and into the building, behind the majority of troops. He was already hard to see, toss in the smoke and the monster, and he assumed nobody would notice the moving shadow at the back of the room.
After all, it woudn't be prudent to start swinging untill he was sure he knew what side he was on. -
She's weresanta.
But nowhere in the Nemmers arc does it go into her family life, so it might be her sister, her mother, or even her daughter. -
Completing his journey of qucik jaunts, Acanous perched himself on the rooftop of the old "Inbound Flights" Terminal, now painted red and black. The field was in a state of disarray, with pockmarks along the ground from weapons fire, and vehicles overturned, some being used as instant barricades by technicians and soldiers alike.
He looked over his shoulder, back towards the slowly encroaching ATC, ensuring no AA guns would be positioned to take it out.
((Can I get a rundown of who all is at the airfield?... lol, "You have entered a PVP Zone!.... /whoall")) -
I like the idea of the Camera bot. I believe it could be implimented AS the PVP flag. You can talk to the liason outside the zone and load in with a "Camera Bot". To Un-Camera-Bot, you click the "Exit" button at the top of the screen (Like a mission complete Exit button.)
While in Bot mode, you have the same restrictions as an arena bot.
The basic "Flag Timer" problem is taken care of, as to "Flag", you basically have to zone twice, and to un-flag, same thing. -
((Sorry, was reading back a couple pages, looked like it went with E-X. Hard to keep track of, when there's like 3 of them around >.>)
-
"Well then. If Anthius says you can stick around, I'm not one to argue. Whatever's going on, it was going on at the site of that last explosion. Let's go."
He looked towards where the sky had lit up briefly, Smiled, and began a series of shorter teleports in that direction, lingering on rooftops, ledges and windows for only half a second before continuing onward. -
Acanous looked over to Anthius.
"Friend of yours?" he asked, an eyebrow raising slightly. -
