  1. We can tell that Stryph isn't a strag - he knows where his towel is!
  2. I started out being against Fallout 3, because Bethseda just.. is not a company I put my faith in. Given the issues with their 'expansions' through Games for Windows Live (mostly buggy, and for some odd reason, not even an option for Asian players), my complaints are justified. Morrowind and Oblivion were fairly broken, as well, and continued to be that way for a long time (from all accounts).

I still ended up finding it a fun, enjoyable shooter that I sunk far more hours then I thought I would. Left 4 Dead turned out that way, too, though, and I have far more fun playing that lately.

...just sayin', from my humble opinion, Fallout 3 is a great game to pick up for long-term amusement, and if for nothing else, collection value. I pick up a number of games I don't really play (Bioshock, Halo3, Assassin's Creed) because while they're usually only good for one playthrough.. whenever I get the urge to play it again, I want to have it.

    Packfox I am.

Uhm...letting your team mates die when it could have possibly been avoided by a heal is generally a bad thing, FYI.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking from experience, there are just some instances where you cannot save the person being targeted. They're boned. Trying to save them when you could be saving someone else, then hitting Vengenace/Fallout/Mutation to completely turn the tide and get me back into the fight anyway, is not the best or most efficient course of action.

As for the experience point, my SG jokes that it's not a good night if I don't go off like a maniac and get myself baked at least once. And I am deeply saddened and disappointed whenever a faceplant happens, and I'm not the one taking the nap.

...Not to say that I suck (totally different rant), but I do frequently get myself into situations where no amount of healing will save me - it'll just delay the inevitable.
  4. Controllers:
-Survive solo by doing Containment (stacking mezzes)
-Have a Support secondary that adds limited direct offense, but can add considerable defense
-Can rely heavily on pets at end-game for damage support
-Are not uncommon to find with Damage/Recharge slotted in their Controls.

    Dominators:
-Have an entire secondary to kicking your face in, and use that primarily for damage in most cases
-Tend to slot their controls for Mez Duration, Recharge, and End over Damage; Some can be used for damage instead, depending (see your local Dominator expert)
-Tend to slot and use their pets for added utility over damage
-Use Power Pools and Patron Pools for additional defense, while at the same time using their Controls for primarily defensive purposes

Your mileage may, and most likely will vary. But these are some fairly important things to keep in mind. They tend to lead to drastically different playstyles in some cases, especially if you're trying to optimize your efficiency.

EDIT: Corrected a false statement. My bad.

Not in direct response to the one I replied against

I love it when these posts come up and all the "healer haters" come out of the woodwork. I agree that when anyone takes one attack and the rest are nothing more than heals and pool powers that are non-attacking it is a waste of space on a team.

My empath defenders are great with heals and still contribute to the team by attacking more than 1x per mob. Not EVERYONE plays their "healers" like a noob on drugs.

To the OP, if they have a way to heal a member of the team I would say they can say they are a healer. If your looking for an empath then you should be looking for someone that advertises themselves as an empath and not a healer.

To all "healer Haters", I have seen teams run perfectly fine without a healer on. Healers are not required but certainly makes life just a tad easier. So lets lighten up on the healer bashing and just plain say there are some of them that can contribute more to the team than others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What's so odd about using the proper term for the AT - defender, corrupter, mastermind, or controller - that you go so far out of your way to say 'healer'?

I have no problem with Empaths, Thermals, Rads, Darks, or even Stormies. But, honestly, I find the term 'healer' a distinction that is not necessary, and is a hold-over of games where The Holy Trifecta (Tank-Heal-DPSx3) is the one and only true path to getting anything done, and woe betide you for trying otherwise.

This game's built on wildly different rules. You can roll with almost any combination of ATs provided the players are at least half-competent, paying attention, and willing to listen. It doesn't really matter beyond that.

You can call'em healers, but I'll use the proper distinctive term to adequately describe everything they bring to the team - and that's either defender, or controller.

Or if we're rollin' red, Corrupter or Mastermind.

They do so much more for your team when played right, it's discrediting to compliment them on only one part of their designed function.

EDIT: An official apology for all the red-side homies I forgot about when making this post - leaving you out of the initial rant was, in hindsight, an insult. :/ We coo', though, right?

  13. I like it better when Logan does the 'Doom of the Day'. He's at least funny.

*Is, thankfully, a fox spirit and immune to petty mortal weapons! Though they are an inconvenience...*
  14. Bad Healer = Twit that does nothing but spam Healing Aura and thinks he's contributing.

Bad Buffer = FF that just leaves on Dispersion Bubble and spams KDs/KBs.

Which one contributes more mitigation? Hmm?

Stating anything as an absolute when talking about player skill is ridiculous because there are more variables then just the skill of the player involved.

    Drives me nuts.
  15. More stuff with the 'generic' Paragon Heroes and Rogue Villains enemy groups.

What's up with Comatorium? Why is Flambeaux a hero?

Not epic level depth, here, but just a little bit more information about the heroes and villains you run into a lot, especially at the lower levels.

Or, a lot, in the fashion that if you do Mayhems/Safeguards often. More prominent for Villains, since their contacts rarely link together.

Gah! who opened this portal to my secret forum lair where BT trolls about.

*wanders around mumbling about needing better security*

So BT has not been sleeping well recently and has lost her mind. Anyone have a trick to falling asleep?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's all a state of mind. Relax. Breathe deep. Start a breathing cycle (breathe iiiiin, and hold. Release, pause. Breathe iiiin...), start thinking about nothing (it's harder then you think)..

Basically, achieve as close to a meditative state of mind as you can, through whatever means necessary. Let everything else slip away, but do not focus on the act of sleeping. Defeats the purpose - you want no focus at all. When your mind is calm, your body will calm, and sleep will be easier to achieve.

Barring that, reduce your daily caffeine intake for a while, and do more regular exercise.

  21. In other news... I need victims to run an arc (#105556) and tell me what they think of the plot, in specific.

The enemy group is pretty much where I want them, and I'll caution in advance: They're like lego - the more they stack up, the more awesome they get.

For a highly trained security force, I'm still amused at some of the complaints I get about their difficulty. >_> I've worked on toning them down a bit every update, and I probably will re-examine them this time, too (and every other time we get a chance to actually mess with custom enemies more in detail), but I'm specifically looking at plot complaints. PMs are fine, if you wanna dodge spoilers.

And, now that I've gotten THAT out of my system...

*Builds a tower of chilled beer.*
  22. Going to go through and make some more plot revisions. I was debating doing it for a while, but I'd been sort of caught up in playing other people's arcs and let it slip my mind. It's not as tight in places as I'd like it.

May also try to add some additional formating things, which requires a bit more research on my part. Streamlining and improving objectives is also going to be a goal, while maintaining the overall 'feel' of the arc itself. Also going to adjust the short-description of it in-game to more accurately reflect that feel.
