I have no problem with that. I am not sure I will buy as many of them as I did this one (I mostly wanted the ATIOs), but I am sure I will purchase some of them.
-
To what? I mean I agree with what you are saying, but I don't think I would have much problem after that, with costumes any way. Shoot, very little in this game ever annoys me. Costume disparity, and scrappers not getting Ninjitsu are all I can even think of currently.

Quote:I think it would boil down to the individual's psychological make up. Poker, Blackjack, and slot machines do nothing for me. However getting cool cards or figures was a huge rush to me. I once spent a grand on L5R cards on pay day, Hero Clix was about as bad. That was when I realized I had an issue.I've played CCGs for fun, and I've played Poker, Blackjack and slot machines in casinos for money. It is not the same experience.
With these there is nothing really there to pull me into that kind of behavior. They are fun, but the costumes are easy to get, and the ATIOs are easy to com by too. I have all I need of each, so I have no real reason the continue to buy these packs. -
Quote:I never played magic, but I did play the L5R CCG. I have to disagree, it is like gambling. You are spending money, for the chance of a favorable outcome. Meh, I still liked it, but it is also why I stopped playing CCGs and Hero Clix games. This is no where near as bad as those. If you ever played Magic, maybe you'd remember that feeling of anticipation while opening a whole bunch of booster packs you just purchased. Maybe you were lucky enough to feel the rush of excitement when you finally got that Black Lotus or Mox Jet after opening so many and just finding a lousy Island. This is just like that.
And no, that's not gambling. I don't know why so many people are saying that it is. They are simply wrong. If it was gambling, then these Super Packs would give you a chance of winning 100 store points, or 1,000, or the grand prize of 1,000,000. Or maybe you'd have a chance of winning extra hours, days or months of VIP access. If it was really gambling, then it'd give you a chance of winning actual money, credited to your PayPal account or whatever. -

Quote:Outside note, the elemental order pack went live today.Oh for heaven's sake, players who wanted real variety with female costumes were "slighted" repeatedly with the Steampunk, Gunslinger and Magic Packs - which are only now being fixed. (And that's not taking into account similar problems with the recent Barbarian Pack.) When there's a comparable streak of problems for male costumes, then it's time to complain. Meanwhile, the devs have been listening to our feedback and are taking this into account for future packs (which has been repeatedly pointed out). Let's see what the Sci-Fi and Elemental Order Packs look like when they go live before complaining about being slighted.
Ok, at what point do we start calling it a streak? Fair question right? Should we start at the Carnie pack? Also in the other packs you named, females didn't get less they just got more slutty picks instead. I completely agree with those who were annoyed by that. -

Quote:I try to be, but some days I fail.Zyphoid, you are a stable dude, I am waiting for the unstable amongst us.
I went ahead and sold a bunch of my ATIOs today. I made right at 2 billion inf on them today, because I sold this morning.
It seemed like I got less Scrapper and Brute IOs than anything else. Now, that may just be my perception because those were the ones I wanted. -
#5 for me. I would be just as happy with more proliferation.

Quote:Oddly I have more clothes than my wife. Granted most of them are variations of T-shirts, Cargo Shorts, and Jeans. I get the joke...Not with things like armor sets or uniforms.
But more so with street clothes and historical clothes, then yes. Women get numerically more. Because woman usually wear more. Women layer more. Women have more diverse styles. Men just don't (usually) wear all the extra stuff women wear: shawls, belly shirts, corsets, skirts, etc...
Take skirts,e.g. Men have kilts. Women have dozens of styles of skirts. But they both get battle skirts (e.g., Valkyrie or Roman). What rankles me is that men don't have shorts. But when men do get shorts, there's no need for a dozen styles.
The comedian Elaine Boozler tells this joke in her stage act about how men and women differ and to show how they differ, she claims men won't even get this joke: "I was shopping with my boyfriend and I said I needed a new pair of black pants. And he said you already have a pair of black pants." The women in the audience laughed because they got the joke. If you don't get the joke, then you should back out this debate, because you just don't get how differently women actually use clothing in reality.
Just compare the average woman's closet to a man's closet. Woman have more costuming needs. And that's a fact.
Thus, forcing an equality based on simple numerical equity is just wrong.
And this is me making this argument who was spearheading the gender bias charge for years here. It's not about numbers.
All of this could be solved by porting the gender neutral items from female to male, and not releasing ANY more gender exclusive costume packs, be they male or female. -
Again, it is ok with so many of you because you are not the ones getting slighted. You are getting everything males get, AND unique stuff, AND female dedicated costume packs. I am wrong for being annoyed by that, and voicing that annoyance? I really don't get the self righteous stance some posters seem to take.
Here is what I am seeing in this thread. Equality only matters when it is females who are getting treated unequal. -
Quote:QFT. All of this is also why I am so ticked off. I don't give a crap that females had those items ported to them. I am annoyed that there was a female only costume pack released at all. I am annoyed that there are a ton of parts that could be ported from female to males and are not. When did I ever say I was complaining about the Pocket D pack?
You want to know my complaints? The fact that they made a female-only Carnival of Light pack at all is a start. That they're giving females just about all of the previously male-only costume pieces from the Magic, Steampunk and Gunslinger packs and giving males exactly nothing is a pretty obvious one too.
There are costume options that females have had for years that shouldn't have been kept from males. The female headbands and even tiaras are largely plain and wouldn't be out of place on males as circlets. Females have those nifty cloud and dragon bracers and padded gloves that have no reason to be limited to one gender. Shoulder kitties and pandas (and add the damn parrot that the ghost pirates get already), anybody? Girls have a lot of "tops with skin" and "bottoms with skin" options that males don't get access to (excluding the obvious things that they don't want us to have, like corsets and bikinis).
... Heck, I could even think of a few uses for the regular skirts to make costumes for space aliens, though I wouldn't expect those to ever get ported to males.
I agree with Chad 100%. -
I have no real complaint with that split. I have more concern with how many more packs like the Carnie pack they will release. Porting that sash, and the clock belt are things that could be done, but from what I gather at Zwill's response that is not a priority.
-
Will not see me complaining about this. I ended up opening around 120 packs, and had a TON of fun doing it. No regrets on my end.

Quote:As a stay home Dad with 3 of my 4 kids being girls, I can honestly say I am not a misogynist. I however will repeat that I prefer equality. I just want there to also be some unique parts for the male models. I WANTED and effin sash for some of my martial arts toons.True. As long as I'm being thought a misogynist, I may as well tell the ladies to put on that aforementioned bartender apron and get back in the kitchen, right? -_-
The bottom line is a very vocal group of people got what they wanted. Those of us who want some male only costume items, or want true equality, are in the minority now. We just happen to be in a minority that no one gives a crap about. -
At this point I may buy more packs in the future, when I run out of reward merits. I would like to have the black wolf, but it is not eating at me to have it.

What I REALLY wish is that enhancement converts had also gone live today.

Quote:I did complain equally. I agree this fixes a disparity in the items. I also agree that they should just give us a damn Kheldian Sash, and it should have been a bucket mask. No arguments from me there.Did you complain equally when the Gunslinger pack came out and dressed females as call girls rather then what the pack was meant to be all about? All this is doing is addressing an "injustice" in an earlier couple of packs.
As for the Carnie stuff, whilst yes I agree that the sash could go on males, there are NO Carnie males that wear the harlequin masks. They wear buckets on their heads. The pack needs to be relevant to the theme it's for as well as gender equal.
Personally, I think they should correct one BIG annoyance and give all three models a proper Kheldian sash rather than making us use the Carnie one which barely suffices.
I WAS offended by Zwill's post. It was the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen him do, and it bothered me because I have a great deal of respect for him as our community manager. IF I didn't respect him so much, it would not have bothered me. Is what it is I guess.
As for the parts, I do hope they take equal time to port the parts that females have that males could use. I somehow doubt it will happen though. -
I really wish they had put enhancement converters in at the same time. :/
It sucks to look at all of these ATIOs and not be able to convert them to something I can actually use. -
Quote:No I got that she did it in her free time, and I think that is awesome. My issue is what I saw becoming a trend with the Carnie pack. They really couldn't give masks and a sash to the two other models?Warning: Detecting Serious sense of humour failure in drives 2, 3, 4 and 9.
Did you guys totally miss the part where Dink worked on this IN HER FREE TIME? Yes, I feel caps are justified, because people are talking about 'development time' where there technically was none.
I really don't care if the female models get unique parts, and the male parts. What bothers me is that I read males are never going to get unique parts again. What bothers me is that it is ok to complain about gender equality when females are the underdog, but as soon as males say something they are shouted down, and by an effin community rep none the less.
I like fairness and equality. I just feel that is no longer something the devs care about. -
I am pretty upset too. I think more people would voice that they are upset if Zwill (and several others) didn't throw e-tomatoes at the first person who said something.
