Maybe they cut out all the old Praetorian missions and added in new, clean and revamped ones?
No more horrible, horrible defeat alls? Yes please! -
Quote:Everything so far has tied Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning to Going Rogue. Otherwise, why bother revealing them? Why hype them as part of Going Rogue? They'd simply be in the next Issue.I very much doubt that you will need to purchase GR to get the new powersets, but since there's no precedent we can't really say for sure without dev confirmation (I5, I7, I11, and I13 had new powersets but that was a free issue, I6 had a few new powersets but that was part of a paid expansion and the powersets in question were only available on ATs added in that expansion).

Quote:Depends on your definition of 'a few'.Are you serious? No really, are you serious?
Do this:
1) Log into Atlas, street sweep to level 5;
2) Enter the Hollows; do story arcs and Meg Mason's missions until 15;
3) Then either do a Synaspe or do Faultline story arcs and paper missions.
Solo, this takes about 4-5 hours. In a group, about 2-3. Try it because what you just said is absurd. It's so absurd that I'm not even sure that you're serious.
Thats the plan I follow anyway, and have done for some time. I tend to be solo. I guess I'm obviously not pushing to the limit, or something, because it certainly doesn't go by that fast. -
And that is where I will always disagree.
I hate grinding. Not everyone likes grinding. Some do, some don't.
However, a LOT of other MMOs are very, very grindy. This game is great fun, simply because it can be but doesnt have to be.
The day that changes is the day things go downhill. Fortunately, the Devs seem well aware of that. -
Quote:Says you. I have yet to see anyone produce any reliable proof of getting to 20 in 'a few hours'. Until then, as before, I will call utter BS on this statement. How about Kheldians and Soldiers of Arachnos?
My main point is that they should unlock at character select for all players or stay at 50. Having them unlock at 20 is just silly. There's no accomplishment to leveling to 20, it can be done in a couple of hours. If the intention is to remove the gating of these ATs then don't do it half-azzed. -
-
Quote:So, as much potential for idiocy as every other AT, then?Yeah, you've got people like that already, but now there are going to be a lot more of them
There will always be people who, infallibly 'Do it Wrong'.
Making the AT a bit less of a chore to get will do nothing to change that. -
I quoted one just now. (Not yours. The one above.)
-
Quote:Because they were made to unlock at 50 while Jack was still in charge. Ever since, the sensible Devs have labelled it a mistake.I don't get the epics unlocked at L20 thing. The whole thing with unlocking them at 50 is that you achieve something and get something, L20 is nothing. Why even have to unlock them when it will take nothing to manage? You don't even need to perform a specific task, just playing a character for a few days will manage it. Any level of achievement for unlocking them is lost.
This also makes it much, MUCH easier for more Unlockable ATs, because people won't be b****ing about them "Waaah, it doesn't unlock at 50, people are getting it easier than us now!"
I spent 15 months getting my first 50. I also brought CoH AND CoV. All I can say is; cry me a river. -
Quote:If it's easy to fix, it'd be nice if it was sorted, then.See, I disagree.
I think the talkies are important, especially for a new player who doesn't necessarily know what's available. Only a relatively small percentage of the player base reads the forum or the various wikis... and as we've seen from many threads here a lot of people like to solo - so the other parts of the game need to be made available and the talkies are a pretty good way of doing that.
No, they aren't perfect but it's not like it's a massive chore to grin and bear it, and with travel powers being so easily accessible now, it's just simple to do what needs be done and move on.
The Architect Manager is a prime example of a talkie done right. He's not necessary to the rest of the game. You can go through the game without even touching AE if you dont want to. So he pops up, and thats that. You can leave him untalked to forever and a day if you dont want to see him.
The other talkies are put into place as actual missions, which take up a slot and, sometimes, cant be avoided.
I've had instances of getting a talky, dropping it, then getting ANOTHER god damned talky straight after!
That, in my opinion, is sloppy, leftover design. And I for one dont think its unreasonable to ask for it to be fixed. -
Quote:How I read it so far;I'd also like a clarification on Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning.
Are users locked out from these if they do not purchase Going Rogue, will they be available to everyone on Going Rogue launch, do you need to purchase the powersets...

Going Rogue in any shape or form = Two new powersets
No GR, no powers
Pre-order = Unlocked when you get it. (Unsure if that means test or live...I'm..god help me, tempted to say Live.
Answer is definitely 'you need to purcahse' though. Afaik, and as its been made out. -

Quote:My one hope is that they did say 'Over the coming days'. So, given it only *just* released today, we may get in this week, maybe next. Not true, they're pulling people from those groups at random for this.
I'm part of the loyalty program and don't have access. My other half is part of both the loyalty program and a veteran and can't access.
I really hope X3
Edit: Damnit, Ninja'd >< -
Quote:Isn't that kinda a guarentee, because it's not made by Cryptic? Also, I don't think this is our nemesis system - it's just another faction.
Going by their design choices so far, there's no way they'd release a nemesis system unless it could be better than the CO one in some way

This is where I curse my parents for being stick in the muds and not letting me get the game earlier...*sigh*
I really want to test Pistols. Im also a rampant nit-picker when it comes to bugs.
I just never got into any Closed Beta's before, so no bug testing
-
Quote:*SNIRK*They have another "state of the game address" coming up this week - if they're sensible, they'll say they've listened to the player feedback, and have decided that Vibora Bay will be a free update.
Or they could possibly say that the zone and missions will be free, but any extras planned for it like costumes and powers would still be paid-for items.
Yeah, and I shall grow wings, you'll make more than one avatar, and Jack Emmert will ascend to Heaven...
...
Baaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaaaa! XD -
Quote:It's also a Closed Beta. Meaning that its invite only...http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...27#post2600427
Whoa what what? Why do I have to have a job!? WHYYYY!?!?!
I did the Loyalty program, if theres one Closed I want to get into, it's this little one.
Seriously...*gives his Inbox deathglares* Deliver... -
A very good choice, IMO. It took me so. Damn. Long. to get those EATs.
Im happy that others wont have to repeat my painful journey. -

Quote:I would guess, given what it is, The Complete edition is like the Pre-order, and then some.Ahem.
ZOMGOMGOMOGMGOMGOMGOMG WHEEEEEEEE!
That is all.
Ok, not quite all. The announcement page said:
But right after that, it said:
Sooooo, my question is, what if you want to get the pistols/demon summoning early, but want the item pack too? Will you have to preorder GR for 30$ and then *also* buy the complete collection for 40$, or will you be able to preorder the complete collection? Because, while I definitely would love to get dual pistols/demon summoning early, there's no way I'm buying going rogue twice for the privilege. In a contest between getting pistols/demon summoning early and getting the costumes/etc permanently, the preorder option would definitely lose, which is annoying because this is one product which I'd *definitely* like to show my support for by preordering.
Oh, and this is pure gold. I'm sitting in the math department lounge waiting for my class to start, and now everyone is looking at me funny because I burst out laughing when I read that.
It's still a pre-order...so. Yeah.
I wonder if they mean you get the power sets early on Live? I just...that would blow my mind. Again.
