Quote:What I meant was, move away from him so that you're not taking damage from him in addition to damage from Disintegration. I did not mean to imply that moving away from him would cancel the effect.Disintegration will continue to affect you even if you run away from Anti-Matter. You need to be constantly healed since the very last tick of damage from Disintegration will hit you for - IIRC - 80% of your total hit points (not how much you have left, but what your max health hit points are.)

Quote:When I lead Keyes, I tell people to do the following things if disintegrating:Maybe a silly question, but i never took the time to pay attention to this...
Disintegration, ias casted by AM, as a single target attack, or there is more to it?
I'm asking because i noticed that on some runs, there is a lot of ppl being disintegrated, while on other there is less or few.
In that last case, i was wondering what was the difference?!,
maybe ppl keep somedistance between them, to avoid the entanglement, more then on those runs were ppl get Disintegrated a lot ??!
1) Step away from Anti Matter.
2) Make sure you're not standing in the Obliteration Beam.
3) Call for help via macro so people with heals can assist.
4) Each time you take damage, pop green inspirations until you're at full health again.
The idea being that if you're only taking damage from Disintegration, it is a lot easier to limit deaths. As long as you're at full health before the final tick, you should be able to survive.
In terms of Entanglement, for the most part I tell people to ignore it. I have seen it kill someone disintegrating though when a bunch of people with PBAoE heals ran in to try to save them, but this isn't terribly common. If it looks to be an issue, I advise people to use single target heals if possible on those disintegrating. -
I've always thought that kickballs are a good way to get more casual PvPers involved.
Personally, I've avoided joining leagues because I don't want to dedicate that level of time and effort into PvP. Also, the worry that RL might make it difficult for me to show up and support the team has also been a factor. For people in my position, kickballs are ideal because people can join in as they are willing and able. -
Those look great! Thanks for putting this together.

Quote:This. That's not my experience. People "close" the leagues because of the stupid 5-minute timer to start the trial; but while they're forming, they take anything and everything.
At least in my experience on Champion, I've never seen people turned down for trial invites due to the mindset that PuGers are potentially not 'high performance'. Most of the time people advertise in zone and in global chats until it appears that all the interested parties have been invited. The only reason leagues are closed is because most people want to get going and not stand around for an extra 5 minutes.
Also, thanks Leandro for collecting and sharing your data. -
If you go into Menu > Options > Graphics and Audio > Audio you can turn down/off 'Sound Effects', which should mute the sounds of all powers, while leaving your 'Music Volume' setting up.

I'd like to take a moment not only to congratulate everyone who was on our Anti-Anti-Matter badge run today, but also to speak highly of my fellow Champions.
For anyone who is not familiar with this badge, you must damage Anti Matter below 10% of his health at Reactor Hope and complete the trial. In other words, suffer extreme pulse damage and manage not to accidentally kill him as you secure the reactors.
The league was a group of 15, mostly PuG and some had never even done the trial before. Our strategy wasn't much different than a normal Keyes run except to mentally prepare for successive deaths, run to the hospital, refill on inspirations and keep truckin'. We managed to control our stray aggro fairly well. He was down to 6% by the last reactor, which isn't bad considering we started at 9%. We also tried to wait at each terminal for the next pulse to go off so we could heal up and move to the next one.
One thing I found really impressive is that despite all the dying and running around, no one complained. Everyone stayed focused on the task at hand and maintained a positive attitude about it. Sometimes these kinds of experiences are the most rewarding.
So thank you, Champion, for a great first (and successful) attempt at one of the Keyes badges. -
Praetoria has my vote. Good lighting, good scenery, anyone can join in.

I have several people in my family that suffer from anxiety, so I understand that dealing with the symptoms can be quite challenging. However, I also feel that because of these challenges, you have to be your own advocate, especially on the internet where folks will have no idea about your background or a limited understanding of how to help someone suffering from anxiety. If you find that a part of the game or trial is causing you to experience severe symptoms, it would probably best to excuse yourself from the trial and take care of yourself. There will always be other opportunities to try it if you still wanted to and your health is always more important than anything going on in a game.
Quote:I can't say this with 100% certainty because I was not present in your trial, but my guess is that most people would be willing to help you if they could. If you didn't receive the kind of help you felt you needed, it's likely that people did not understand your situation, how to help you through it or in the case of the trial itself, didn't know enough about Keyes themselves to confidently give advice. Many players are still figuring it out as you are and could have also been lost or confused.Originally Posted by SuperOzBut emotionally I felt hurt. Hurt that everyone just seemed motivated by perfection or 'winning' or whatever to the point that noone bar one person sought me out and said 'follow me, I'll help you'. I can't even imagine not doing that for someone. It's just in my nature to be a helper. I mean, it's just a silly game, right? Shouldn't I help someone if they ask?
Quote:Originally Posted by SuperOzWhat this means is someone like me needs a controlled situation, calm thinking and a lack of surprises. If anyone suffers from this, they know what I'll mean when I say that the feeling of anxiety is a feeling of loss of control, an overwhelming sensation of things being 'too much'. It sounds silly to say about a game, but the game is an escape from those things and a game is a manageable situation, or so I thought.
I am sorry you had a poor experience with Keyes. I sincerely hope you do not allow it to ruin trials for you, however, as they can also be quite fun. Of the three, I'd probably recommend BAF as it's less running around and less chaotic. -
Quote:This had also occurred to me after running it a couple times. The fact that the terminals were accessible and then locked later. After being on a few PuG runs I also wanted to develop a way to split teams up and tackle multiple things at once. I believe in VoodooGirl's Guide she mentions doing just that. However, since the trial is still new for so many people, keeping everyone together and showing them the ropes I feel is still useful until we reach a point where I could say "Team 1 go clear this area" and people would know what I'm talking about.
The Trial flat out says Terminals Accessible in giant text when the phase starts. It then says Terminals Locked when Antimatter shows up... Which, by inference, means that in the time when Antimatter hasn't appeared yet in each phase, the terminals can be powered up and destroyed without needing Antimatter there at all.

That said, if the previous phases have gone well, youve probably cut down a lot on insp use, and saved a whole boatload of time, which in circumstances involving annoying death pulse probably means a handful fewer defeats. Heres hoping this cuts down on some of the annoyance factor currently in the trial, what with having to drag the AV around everywhere.
Thanks for testing and posting, though! I find the Keyes trial to be fun, but extremely monotonous during the reactor phase and this looks like a promising way to cut down on that. Where I see it really shining is while trying to get the Anti-AntiMatter badge (complete the Keyes Island Reactor Incarnate Trial after having brought Anti-Matter below 10% of his health while attempting to take control of Reactor Hope, the western-most reactor.) I have never experienced a pulse while Anti Matter was at less than 10% health but I imagine it to be strong. Not having to drag him around for the terminals leaves only the pulse to deal with, potentially making this a lot easier. -
You mentioned a schedule change, so I'm curious as to what time you're playing. You'll definitely find different levels of activity depending on when you log on.
I'd also keep in mind with the launch of the new Keyes trial there are a lot of people that are going to want to run that. That's the way it is with anything new that comes out, trial or not.
People are still running non trial content, myself included. Look me up if you would like some help. -

No, he was there to lead a team. What I meant was, I overbooked by one so I let someone have my spot for that base. There were at least two full teams that saw it and (hopefully) took pictures.

Thanks everyone who volunteered to show their bases as well as those who joined in for the tour. We managed to see a total of 13 different SG/VG bases. Here are some pictures I took on Friday night.
