  1. Update:
Colored a bit of the Mario picture. Maybe 50% done with flats.

New version of the song should be posted by Jester soon. I'll put up the link ASAP.

Edit: Don't Wanna Be Defeated (New Version)
  2. Check out the song, now being played on w00t Radio. Thanks w00t!:
    Don't Wanna Be Defeated

    New pencil, also:
    Lupin III
  3. Update:
Finished a whole new song: A parody on The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated," titled "Don't Wanna Be Defeated." This was written by Archimagos. The full details are in this thread.
Unfortunately, I won't be hosting or posting up the song myself, as CuppaJester said he'd take the liberties to. So as much as I'd love to show you guys the song, we're gonna have to wait for CuppaJester.

Anyway, I did happen to do another pencil while at school. I'll get that up sometime tonight.

Phew, like a freakin' art machine here.

  5. Hooray, milestone day!

My first ever completed ink work:
    Mario
  6. I get a very strong feeling of the ancient Japanese paintings/portraits style when I look at this.

    Excellent. The colors blend magnificently.
  7. Update:
I did edits here and there on Maru, mostly on the arms. I think the hands are okay in relation to everything else.
    Maru (Updated)

I also drew this in class today when I was done with everything:
    Peeping Tom
  8. Thanks for the heads-up, Sq. I made some edits here and there and I think I'll rescan it tomorrow.
  9. New pencil:

I'm a subscriber to GameTap, and one of the coolest things they did recently was edit an old arcade shooting game, Shock Troopers, to make it online compatible, meaning I can play co-op online with other people on it. After playing a bit, I felt like drawing one of the characters, Maru.

    Maru

I also have tinkered a bit with inking the Mario piece. It's almost 50% done.
    Mario (Inks)
  10. I have a new pencil done. I'll try to get it up tomorrow, when I can get both my comp and the comp with the scanner hooked up to it online. As of now. I can only have one online at a time, due to the current configuration.
  11. Update:
Computer is up and running with net. Thank god.

    Two weeks of hell.
  12. It turned out great, but I think you could make the colors stand out a lot more magnificently if you tweaked some stuff like, say, putting some lighter shades on the gryffin's body in some parts.

    Pep art trade?

Please don't go around telling people you aren't good. You do excellent clean pencils and great pose-work.

Not only that, but you get replies when you post new art.

  14. Back. A lovely week before school all around:
    1. Internet was out--back on.
    2. My computer won't turn on--getting that fixed soon.
    3. 2 DS games missing, and I'm not one to lose things--still no idea where they are.
    4. TV Cable was out--back on.
    5. Dog was foaming at the mouth and convulsing today--seems fine now; I have no clue.

Ahh...three pencils will be up later today.
  15. Going to be gone tomorrow and will return on Sunday. Have foon.
  16. I still can't believe how clear it is. If mine were that clear, all I'd have to do is darken the image in Photoshop instead of inking the whole thing.
  17. My god, how do you get such clean lines? Is this done digitally?

Edit: I changed my mind. The truth hurts, and I don't care who--this is what I think:

It's quality, not quantity. If you're telling someone to be consistent in their offering of quality in their work, I'd agree with you, but you worded it as though a consistent offering of work in frequency would net more responses. I disagree. If you go about it too frequently and don't look and learn from past mistakes, the road to improvement in quality for future work is a much longer one.

I started my art thread about two months ago. As of late, I'm lucky if I get one comment on any work I post in there. On the other hand, adepts such as Juggertha and GillBates (others, etc.) post their work in new threads and get pages of responses.

Why? Is my art style crummy? Maybe I'm just old hat? Most likely, their work is more refined and better overall to look at through past experience. Their names are usually attributed to quality stuff, and they are consistent in their quality, so it shouldn't be a surprise. I feel I'm consistent in quality, too, but don't have as much time and experience that those mentioned do.

Then again, why should I give a rat's [censored]? The only person who's going to make me happy over my work is me--and as long as I get what's in my head into motions on my hand, into the pencil, and onto the paper, I'll still be proud enough to sign it, date it, and share it with others, now matter how little response I get.

Like I said before, Vorpal, stick to the work and the experience is sure to follow.

Don't sweat it too much, Vorpah, it seems to be that it takes a consistent offering of work for any artist around these parts to develop a critical mass of responses.

    Just keep at it.
