  1. It sounds like you've definately got something specific in mind. Before I officially throw my hat in the ring would you be willing to email me, or post here a more detailed description of the shot/setting you're going for?

I'm always eager to try developing new styles. You can email me at todd@toddworld.com. My art stuff is at toddworld.deviantart.com. Other random me's are at www.toddworld.com.

But I agree with Juggy, Artgerm's style looks like not a far stretch from what you're looking for. But I have no idea about commissions.

    Thanks,
    Todd
  2. One more lego piece, this one from the dark side of things.

Here's my highest level villain Sinder complete with his greater fire sword (now if he could only HIT something with it every once in a while).

    As always, comments welcome.

...*whispers* pssssst, actually it was the Mars set, thus the red sky...just don't tell anyone.

    thanks

sweet Lego work man! If somehow City of Heroes gets a Lego game like other have lately, we'll know inspired it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

...hmmmmm...a Lego/CoX game. Might be fun to focus on a specific 'episode/story arch' and lego it up.

Hehehe I can see the special power now...a teleport foe power that teleports them to the bottom of the couch cushion.

Too awesome! I'd love to see an Arachnos one from you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I admit I'm pondering a Lord Recluse or Ghost Widow piece. I still have a couple to finish up of my toons (that I'm using to experiement with).

I love your lego work! This one is no exception =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. I put this one together with Maya, Terragen and composited all together and tweeked in Photoshop. I started out playing around with the Terragen 2 beta but the image size limitation is 800x600 which ended up killing that one (which is too bad, cause the clouds in that are really nice).
  7. Thanks guys! This one went through a few composition revisions. The biggest difference being several buildings in the background. I modeled them, had them in there, was tweeking the lighting and just decided I like the color and tone of the sunset too much and felt they drew some of the focus away from the big guy.

The Legos are just plain a lot of fun to do.

  8. Finished up another Lego character. This time it's none other than States himself.

Check it out and let me know what ya think. Statesman - "Freedom"

    Hope you like him.

haha, sry im bad at wording things and have horrible internet speech...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow, I never realized I was bilingual...I always chalked it up to plain old English.

Now, if you'd said you were Chinese or Korean then we could talk...well actually I guess we couldn't, but at least it would make a little more sense.

    Todd

...hmmm, or maybe he's surfing the boards on his cell phone. It would account for some of it.
  10. Well I'm thrilled you're happy with her. I had a blast painting her.

She was a joy to work with, even though we had to keep the studio at a cool 32 degrees during her sitting
  11. Thanks all! Just experimenting with the various tools. To be honest I did bounce it over to Photoshop for one little piece but it was just cause I knew a super quick way to do what I wanted.
  12. I've always liked Larissa's character. Just always thought it had a good overall design. And since I'm still playing around with Painter and "cartoon" pieces I figured I'd bang the two together and see what I got.

So here she is in digital watercolor....(digital watercolor...such an odd statement).

Anyhow. Larissa, if you're out there, I hope you like

Comments and other feedback welcome. I'm particularly interested in having a cartoon/animated style would be worthwhile. In any case, it was fun.

    Thanks,
    Todd
  13. Very nice...even complete with creases. Nice touch.

    Todd
  14. Thanks!

Wow....did I actually use the phrase "around these parts" on a message board post? My word! I've even got a hick accent on message boards.

    GO COWBOYS!

Nice picture. Although I DO have a question: by "animated" style, do you mean anime style? I ask because based on the picture name I was expecting something that moved.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good point, the term "Animated" (around these parts at least) seems to also have reference to the "Animated Series" look of cartoon shows like Batman and Superman for Warner Brothers with the art style created by Bruce Timms.

Anyone else feel free to chime in here.

    I apologize for the confusion.

    Todd
  16. lol. Thanks

Just having a little fun. I've thought about trying a shot at a more classic Timms style not so much the bright flat colors, more the watercolor/pastel look...just to see how that comes out.

    Thanks,
    Todd

p.s. I have to give credit to my wife who helped out majorly on the concept and costume.
  17. Altitis strikes again (I really need rehab on that, but anyway), here's a Timm's image of my new character Desi Belle. She's a sonic/electric blaster.

    Desi Belle - Animated style

Backstory is, she was a guitarist in a punk band until she was struck by lightning during an outdoor concert.

She's my first character on Virtue.

  18. Feel free to check out my site ToddWorld or my
Deviant Art Site for more illustration samples.

I don't remember if I've got logo samples on there but if anything interests you email me and I'll pull some up.

    Thanks,
    Todd

    Awesome! I want one!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll trade you one for one of you lvl 50's
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Very cool. Didn't you do that with one of your other characters a couple years ago?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A couple of YEARS ago?! Geez I know it's been hangin for a while but not that long. Nah, I built the initial model and other specifics for 8 Baller, Ipo, and Michael Angelo sometime last year and never got around to rigging/posing/placing them in a scene of any kind.
  22. Thanks, with a 5 year old and a 7 year old, we get a lot of lego action around here.
  23. Been working on this project set for a while and finally had a little time to get back to it (thanks to a virus...but hey, whatever it takes).

Here's 8 Baller in Kings Row...all "block style" character.

Enjoy. Thoughts are especially welcome with this being an experimental style approach.

..doh...and the link 8 Baller - Block style

    Thanks,
    Todd
  24. Sounds like fun. Could be a good chance to try out something new.
