And yes, MUO is competition.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not for me it isn't. I'm happily going to say right now: no interest in it (especially if it's developed for Vista lol). If DC produced something at the same quality and type as CO* I might try it out, because I'm more fond of that universe. However, I know perfectly well that if I'm going to be spending 45$ a month (with 3 accounts active) anywhere on the internet, it's going to be RIGHT HERE. -

Hmm put that way, one could say it might be a blow for cryptic to lose all that talent, but then again they've been in the game for a while, so they should be ok.
especially with all that MSFT $$$ coming in.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would assume that most of the CO* people weren't on other projects directly anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, question. Does this mean that Cryptic is no longer going to be developing CoX and that we'll have an all new development team? Or is the new office simply adding extra manpower to the existing development team?
[/ QUOTE ]
..... They've moved all the team that wanted to go. That's why I'm not crying too much more dooooom than necessary. They offered everyone on the team jobs, and it looks as though the important bits and many of the less visible team members did take them up on that. So: same dev team, with the same control over their product, only under a different studio name.
That is working for me, I think. I just hope that everyone up the ladder *has learned from the mistakes of other publishers* that usurp - look at the disaster area that was Sony and SWG.
Let's keep things as much the way they are, shall we -
[ QUOTE ]
Though with that I'll also say I'd buy it in a heartbeat, two copies TYVM, one for each account.
[/ QUOTE ]
As long as the dev teams remain the same on the projects: count me in too -
I hope we get to keep the Cryptic Studios logos on buildings in the game.....

NCsoft will soon be announcing formal plans for the City of Heroes IP, which will include expansions and sequels to the popular comic-book inspired massively multiplayer online (MMO) game.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Right: NC owns that. What's CRYPTIC doing? Muo I realize, though I now worry that .... well, never mind. Publishers are publishers, I suppose. -
[ QUOTE ]
Cryptic Studios is able to fully focus on their current project.

.... Which is or is not CO*? Just wondering because I'm sort of confused about this. Just wonderin.
..... God I wish I had programming experience -
This is all kinds of stunning. Just incredible!
I like the dialog lol - I think that's sooooo in character there -

change the settings onyour game
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually this does not work for screenshots. Only for what you're seeing while in the game.
In order to get your screenies to be bright, you'll need to play with it in an editor like PSP or Photoshop or Gimp or pick another program Adjust the brightness/contrast or the gamma settings, that usually does the trick. -

Happy Villainiversery.
So glad that I didn't spend this anniversary dressed up like a pirate, sitting in my cubicle for 6 hours patiently handing out yellow titles in Pocket D before shooting each of you with a teleport arrow. All while sick as a dog.
Ah, good times.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aawwwwww!
Where is that brilliant screenshot of Manticore booting that one guy off the ledge in Pocket D while he's saying "thank you!" That's one precious memory. -

edit: Oh, yeah, another doom-and-gloom prediction. The super volcano that is Yellowstone is overdue to blow and when it does, depending on wind direction, the land for hundreds of miles away will be buried under 10 feet of ash. Denver will be the mile and 10 feet city.

Oh my goodness, I know. Satelite maps. Scary stuff. Place has been on a slow boil for centuries, but it's obvious when you look at the surroundings that it *has* erupted in places, before. When that goes, I think we'll be some new creature's dead-dinosaur oils. -
*patpats Warwitch*
It was a small one. Some day.... since you live and work quite near a fault area, you'll probably have the experience of a real earthquake.
I live in the middle of San Diego, and when the Northridge quake back in .... 90whatever it was, happened, I awoke slightly before it actually shook the building (I'm like a dog that way, standing there wondering why the HELL I'm standing up in the middle of the night? oh - because the room's shaking now). And that was several hundred miles away. THAT one was a big quake. Friend lost her house in that, actually.
But look at it this way: you aren't likely to get too hurt in a quake. Hurricanes? Tornadoes? Those things really do a lot of damage for a long time. Earthquakes are things that slap you around a couple times in an hour and then leave you be for another 4 or 5 years.
And look at it THIS way: you're from Canada! The pacific fault line area is actually forcing the coast NORTHward, so .... it just wants to return you to your rightful place! Very, very slowly! -
Happy anniversary!
It ... doesn't seem like yesterday to me, because so much has happened in my life. But I sure do remember playing in COV Beta and having an absolute blast.
Congratulations Villains, you did good.... er... wait... -

Wait, that wasn't me? Am I still even in the group? -
On my first 50, she's got a total of ONE task force, the 2nd Shadow Shard one. Which was fun, but.... I'm not going back to do the others, knowing how bad my respec skills are and what I usually wind up forgetting to take, and when...
40 months, 2 fifties, one badge hound with no task forces on her.... -

During the last double-xp weekend I was out running around with a friend, and while on his team he'd apparently picked up an ebayer. I'd seen the character long before, so I knew that it was an account that *should* have been trustable, but then the kid was all, "how are you doing that? with that power?"
I outright asked him, "did you buy this account?"
He eventually came clean, after hemming and hawing and faceplanting at least once due to his own lack of understanding of aggrorange and how to heal. (he was on a.... I want to say emp of some kind, might have been rad or kin, because all the powers were green )
I had to look over his powers, and tell him how to use them all. But when I suggested he go start his own new character to learn how to play.
He got SO uppity: oh my god, I don't spend my LIFE playing this stupid game! Now tell me how to use that thing!
..... I hope he dropped the game entirely. It was a waste of everyone's time - on 2xXP weekend no less. We were running heroic, and not bothering to farm... what's the point there? :/ Even I farm during xp weekends, and crank my stuff up. But that's half my friend too, so... meh.
Ebay accounts should all be *purchased by Cryptic or NC* and used at their discretion. Maybe they should take all those accounts and put them up for use at conventions instead. If their original owners don't want them, they should just quit.
.... Now, that said, I do own an account which someone else gave to me, because he no longer plays. I don't touch his characters: why would I? I bought my 2nd account (not this one) to give me extra space! I won't delete his characters, but then I also have used one or two to pad task forces to start Plus he *gave it to me* so, I'm not exactly spending ebay-dollars to take over someone else's 50s. (.... heck the highest toon he has is like 30ish... lol) -
I'm having a good time, though because the drop rate on the Costume Slot salvage is much lower in comparison to last year, and that's all I really want to get for some of my single-person SG's to hand off to my alts... ah well.
But I love the little bits of street hunting spersed with door knocking. I also love the little sounds that go along with certain of the costumes. I swear though, the Shaman has a car noise in his loop, which makes me rip off my headphones to try and figure out if there's someone outside my house or what
LH: when you put up a Message of the day, could you PLEASE, PLEASE with sugar on top, ASK PEOPLE TO CLEAR THEIR OWN SPAWNS!
Please. It's so easy. And so frustrating when someone comes by 5 levels higher than others in the zone - but still within zone level range - and leaves their purple con spawns near the doors.
All in all this is so far a 10/10 event for me Got to level 15 and 25 on my currents. -
Welcome to the arts
It would definitely help if you had clear, non enhanced, non action poses for front, side, back and face of each of the characters. Looking through the screenies they're really neat, but they're all almost impossible to find the character's details unaltered. -

Happy birthday!!
