    "Hack"

***Contest is Closed. Thanks to all that participated and congrats to the winners!***

I will leave both arcs up for those who wanted to try this for fun on their own time.

    Part I Arc#: 403052

    Part II Arc#: 403410

Clues for Part II posted below.

    Hello Gamers,

I want to play a game of word association. When I say poisoned, who do you think of? When I say dead by 12 PM EST Monday, 05/03/2010, to whom could I be referring? When I say riddles, what comes to mind?

Some people get riddles confused with proverbs. I really don't understand why. A proverb is akin to sage advice. For example:

He who puts riches above life in the end receives neither.

Riddles, however, have a more sinister end. Using something that is known to reveal the unknown, a riddle seeks to guide its reader on the path to enlightenment, or the path of confusion. A good example of a riddle would be:

When the sum of need is three, I before E except after C.

Or maybe proverbs and riddles aren't that different after all. The time for games is upon us. You are in need of an antidote. I happen to have one. This antidote is divided into three parts; The Cure, The Needle and The Syringe. I have made for you a video clue for each one. Watch carefully, it's the last clues you'll receive. Enough talk, time is wasting.

So I received this weird letter with a video today and thought I'd pass it along...

    Mandy,

180 hours. It seems like such a waste of time to invest in something that is little more than a fantasy in an escapist's playground. I never asked for anything in return, save a chance to provide that playground for any who were having problems finding one of their own and receiving the gratitude and fulfillment of knowing that I was somehow the catalyst for it all.

But that isn't good enough for you, Mandy. No, the ace critic for the Paragon Times isn't content to just move on from a playground not built to her liking. "And, while this AE Arc may have disillusioned its author into believing he had stumbled upon some literary masterpiece, I found its contrived plot to be nothing more than the same old boring drill that I could do in my sleep. Do yourself a favor and avoid this 1-star hack like the plague." Do you remember those words, Mandy? You carved them into my heart that day, but, as fate would have it, now I'm in the position to return the favor.

I want to play a game. Don't worry, Mandy, as you said yourself... you could probably do this boring drill in your sleep. Or can you? Either way I'm sure this contrived plot will be carved into your memory forever.

  10. Having teamed with you on occasion, I'd say whichever SG picks you up would be getting a good player. Good luck in your search.
  11. You had me at "What about combining Gladiator pets with Day Jobs" and lost me at "and PvP rep"

Ultimately it would just become another idea to get people interested in PvP, yet regulated to the farmers. Also, how would you explain in-game the ability to summon an enemy group to fight with you? What, so just because I beat up the Family on a daily basis, now they decide to make nice with me and give me my own Underboss to help fight crime with? I know this sounds silly, but they've given us an explanation for everything in this game, even when it required mental gymnastics to make it work (powerset proliferation anyone?).

Hmm just to play devil's advocate here... one way around that would be to combine Gladiator pets with Day Jobs, tied to PvP rep with the caveat that the summoned pets could only be used in the AE (since the summoned pet would only be a hologram based on your expertise of whichever enemy group you summoned). Since the rewards are generally lower in the AE anyway, it's not like it would be gamebreaking to add what would essentially be a perma-pet (once the day job accolade is obtained, subjected to the amount of PvP rep needed to call a pet) to give you a hand in the AE. The main benefit would be that your Gladiator wouldn't siphon XP away from you unlike an Ally in mish.

So, yeah... PvE to unlock the badges, PvP to charge the Gladiator Summoning power, and AE as the sandbox for said power. Maybe also throw in a special badge that can only be obtained by completing an AE arc using a Gladiator Pet. Could call the badge "I Did a Bunch of Crap I Hate Just to Get This Badge" or something like that. Hell I'd do it just to be able to set that as my badge title lol.
