I had some trouble logging in last night, but did make it only to find that we didn't have enough folks to raid (only had 28 or so a full 15 minutes after scheduled start time). As such, rather than kill another 15 minutes trying to coerce people to show up, it was cancelled.
I'm hoping that this is a result of not raiding regularly over the last month or so, and that folks will show up next week.
As for having multiple raid leaders, the problem seems to be that the Guardian public, in general, won't listen to others who try to lead the raid. I know of at least two folks who tried it, and the result was less than successful, at least in part, because folks who showed up didn't follow the designated raid leader the same way they usually do me.
Not quite sure of the reason for it aside from my experience as a raid leader, but if I can get some volunteers, I'll train a few folks to lead it while I'm present to make sure it runs smoothly. That way, if I'm not around, at least the folks who are leading will be known folks who have lead successful raids in the past.
Any takers? -

Hopefully your surgery went well and your recovery is going even better.
See you soon Wulf
[/ QUOTE ]
The recovery is going well, if slower than I had hoped. Unfortunately, the tear that had to be repaired was substantially bigger than expected, so my incision (and my recovery) is somewhat longer than expected as well.
As such, I won't be leading a raid tonight. However, I anticipate being back to full enough strength that next week, May 13th, we will have some jell-o. Hope to see you all there! -

Wulf,
Wish you well for a speedy recovery, Vicoden is GOOD stuff for pain management!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, Vixen! I have the best possible situation....a doctor who's had the same surgery and knows how bad the recovery pain is. So I have no doubt he'll give me the good stuff! -
Thanks to the folks who came out tonight. The numbers were slow in arriving tonight, so we were a little later getting started. But once we did, Hami went down in an efficient 43 minutes.
Special thanks to my team leaders: Nemo, Goddess Apocolypse, Donnie Danes, Make Believe Hero, Sausage Toes, and Bud Ice.
I will be present to lead the raid next week, April 8th, barring anything unexpected. However, I will then be absent for the remaining 3 weeks in April. I will be out of town on the 15th, and then will be having surgery on the 22nd, and likely won't be recuperated enough by the 29th. By May, I expect to be back to full strength. If someone would like to plan to lead a raid one of those weeks, feel free to contact me here or in-game for the macros I use along with any tips you might want to help out.
Hope to see you next week! -
Unfortunatley, I am suffering from a migraine tonight, and don't have the focus necessary to lead the raid. If someone else wants to step up, I encourage everyone to give him or her your full support.
I'll be back next week, April 1st, for the raid....no foolin'!! -
Thanks again to the folks who came out tonight. We had a long spawn time (nearly 35 minutes), and we had a number of folks switch to other toons and do things they hadn't done before, and we still took him down in 50 minutes.
Thanks to my team leaders (Magenta Graves, Blade Temptress, Grim Maligne, Sausage Toes, and Artemis Styx), along with a big thank you to those new taunting tankers and empaths, all of whom did an OUTSTANDING job. Salute! -
Thanks to everyone who came out to raid. Tonight, we did what, to my knowledge, has not been done anywhere else in the game without using Nuke shortcuts--we took Hami down in less than 30 minutes (29, to be exact, from entry to reward).
Outstanding work from everyone involved, and special thanks to Grim Maligne, Noish-Pa, Sausage Toes, Street Stalker, Malice Intent, and the combo of Terra Cotta Warrior and Medevac Jack for the outstanding leadership. You all make this success possible.
Well done, Guardian! -
Well, the power is restored, so unless there are emergencies arising from the storm (ie. burst pipes, spoiled food, tree damage, etc.) I should be there.

Hey Wulf, since you are the person to see about Hami on Guardian, I was wondering if it would be possible to put together a villain side raid in the near future. There was an attempt at one the other day, but it was short notice, and not enough people were available. And while it was amusing to see an army of MM pets try and make into the Jell-O mound, it wasn't very useful, heh.
Even if you aren't available to take on a villain raid, perhaps you'd be willing to give me some help with getting one going sometime soon. I've done some poking around for interest in it, and it seems it should be doable, with enough notice and someone with the skills to lead it.
I'd be much obliged if you'd lend a hand, or point me in the right direction. Thanks much!

Unfortunately, it will be difficult for me to help directly, since our guild has its villains on the Pinnacle server.
However, we are working on a villain-side modification of this hero strat that we will then be using to host some raids on that server in the near future. I will post that strat/guide on the Pinnacle server forum site, and you are welcome to use it as you see fit.
If you have questions about overall coordination, I'll be glad to chat with you about it. You'll also want Vixen to announce it in the Level 50 channel in advance.
As for this week, I am still hoping to be there to run the raid. But I am one oif the thousands that are without power on the East Coast atm, and may not have it restored in time. I will be there if it's humanly possible. -
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. We had a very short spawn time (think we took down somewhere in the range of 6-8 DE) and then a longer raid than normal (about an hour and 10 minutes).
Two things contributed to the longer raid time. One, we were very short on tankers with taunt and scrappers for the melee team. Two, we had a very limited number of EoEs.
We went ahead anyway, covering aggro with fewer tankers and taking down yellows with less than a full team. It made things slower, and caused teams to take damage they don't ordinarily take.
However, the folks stuck to it, and took Hami down....even completing the majority of the last wave with NO EoEs at all.
Way to stick to it, Guardian! Hope to see folks next week. -
Yes, yes there was jell-o tonight. Glad you made it.
We had about a 15 minute spawn tonight, followed by a 40 minute raid. Very nice work by all concerned, and a special thanks to my team leaders. See you all next week! -

We still need that full list of merit changes. Any chance if you can get us the word on that? Will it be today at least?

Watch for Synapse to post. I'm not going to steal his thunder!
[/ QUOTE ]
No offense intended, Ex, but if Synapse wanted to claim his thunder, he should have posted the list before or at the same time as the patch went live. Doing so now is more like correcting something that should already have be done than bringing the thunder. -
Thanks to all those who came out tonight. We were able to begin exactly on time because the Hive was full about 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. We had a very quick spawn, and then took Hami down in 34 minutes. That was outstanding work by everyone, so kudos to all who participated, and a special thanks to the team leaders!
I will not be available to lead the raid next week, so if anyone would like to do so, I'l be glad to share the macros I use. Just contact me on these forums or in-game. I plan to be back leading the raid in two weeks. Hope to see you there! -
Thanks again to all those who came out for Jell-O this evening. The Hive was full about 5 minutes before raid time, the monster farming went pretty quickly, and Hami went down in about 45 minutes. Special thanks to my team leaders!
Hope to see eveyrone again next week. -
I am still fighting a bit of the bug, but I will be there tonight at 9:30 EST for some Jell-O. Hope to see you there!
-
Unfortunately, I have been under the weather for the last couple of days, and will not be on to lead the raid this evening. If others would like to take a shot at leadership, they are certainly encouraged to do so. I will be back on and ready to lead the raid next week.
-
Thanks to those who showed up to take out the Hamidon again tonight. Raid time was around 45 minutes, and just over an hour counting spawn time.
Special thanks to the team leaders: Urth, Flash Flood, Sausagetoes, Grim Maligne, Dominic Law, and Terra Cotta Warrior (my apologies if I missed someone).
Hope to see you all next time! -
Thanks to all who came out for our first successful public raid of 2009, and to all the team leaders. Despite a very quick spawn, we had enough EoEs and took hami down in about 50 minutes.
Hope to see you there next week! -

What seems to be the AT most lacking at raids nowadays?
[/ QUOTE ]
It varies from one raid to another. There for quite awhile, we were short on controllers. Lately, it's been tanks with taunt. Contrary to some opinions, tankers DO need taunt for this, if they're gonig to serve on the aggro team, and I will not put a tank without taunt on there. If we don't have enough or think we can cover it, we won't raid. All taunt-less tanks will be placed on the scrapper/melee damage team. -
Tomorrow night. 9:30 EST. The Hive.
'Nuff said. -
Well, the raid has been cancelled. At 5 minutes past the scheduled raid time, there were only 20 folks in the zone--nowhere near enough to raid successfully.
As I said, everyone enjoy your holidays, and I'll plan to lead one on the 7th of January. -

good luck tring to get people to show.. i think most will be in pocket d farming candy canes . but i will try and be there for it
[/ QUOTE ]
Yah, it's possible that folks will be inclined to do something else with the Winter Event in full swing. If we hit raid time and there aren't sufficient numbers present to warrant the time it would take to raid successfully--assuming there's enough to raid at all--I'll call it and everyone can go enjoy their snowmen and glowing presents.
Because of that possibility, I'm going to ask people to be as punctual as possible tonight, and to make certain they are unhidden if they are in the zone. The head count will happen at 9:30EST using the search feature, so anyone who is not in the zone AND unhidden will not count.
If anyone is running late, I'd advise checking here, as I'll post if the raid is cancelled for lack of participation. -
I will be leading a raid tomorrow night at 9:30 EST for those interested in doing so. This will be the last raid I will lead this year, as the next two scheduled raids would fall on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. I plan to lead the first public raid of 2009 on Wednesday, January 7th, unless someone organizes one prior to that date.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! -
[ QUOTE ]
That would be because we didn't have nearly enough people, as Wulf said. Many of us were farming in preparation for later raids.
And no, the Jello blob didn't spawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, hopefully folks will bring any EoE drops they got back next week, and we'll be covered in case of a quick spawn. Thanks for getting the farming started anyway, Spell....even if it didn't lead directly to a raid. -
[ QUOTE ]
It helps if you make your presence known. If people think you're not coming, they're not coming either. At the time you logged in, those of us who WERE there were farming EoEs.
[/ QUOTE ]
At the time I logged in, it was 15 minutes after the raid was scheduled to start, and there were nowhere near enough folks in the Hive to raid. Had I made my presence known, it would have been to say, "It doesn't look like we have enough to raid tonight."
At that point, others may well have shown up, but it would have been delayed to the point that it would not fit into the timeframe I had set out in the original post of this thread as a workable raid time. Thus, I chose not to do so.
Likewise, it's true that I could have said something in the zone about running late. But I opted to post it here where I figured most of the regular raiders would look. I also chose as the raid leader not to keep folks tied up farming for a raid that wasn't going to happen or one that would take far too long to complete. My apologies if that isn't to everyone's liking.
Again, however, I do plan to be there at the usual time for next week's raid, barring any emergencies.
