how do I screenshot?
Screenshots should show up in a folder wherever you installed CoH. The printscreen button should also put your whole screen as an image onto your clipboard, which you can then paste into an image program (like Paint). Personally, I use the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows, because I usually don't need or want to capture every part of the screen.
Those should be taking the screenshot. You won't notice anything on screen.
This should probably be in the technical areas, as opposed to here, really, as this sounds like a system issue.
Assuming you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7, these may be ending up somewhere - by default, the screenshots go to <coh install directory>/screenshot, so c:\program files(x86)\City of Heroes\Screenshots. However, IIRC they get redirected...
Go to start, bring up the search files/folders (right above the start button,) and just search on screenshot*.jpg - the COH naming format is screenshot_yearmonthday-hour-minute-second.jpg (for instance, my most recent one is screenshot_120604-02-50-15.jpg, taken at 2:50 on June 4.)
Also, if you're trying to take screenshots while in the costume editor or character select screen, it won't work (and IIRC the clipboard - where you'd paste from - will just get a big black field there.) You'll need the snipping tool there.
alright thanks...I'll see if that works
Tips on taking screenshots
Okay, I've seen quite a few posts where people are having issues with taking screenshots, particularly within the costume creator. ParakonWiki does have an extensive write up on taking screenshots.
Vista* and Win7* users.
Vista and Win7 have a screen capture app called Snipping Tool, You will find it in the Accessories folder. It allws you to capture free-form, rectangles, windows, and full-screen.
*Vista/Win7 Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise.
Now, on occasion I have come across users that have the 'blank-screen' issue when trying to use 'prnt-scrn' in the Costume Creator. (I know I did until I was pointed towards the Snipping Tool.) I have a work-around that I have yet to see fail for anyone that tries it.
Blank screenshot workaround.
1. Bring up whatever art program you are going to use (MSPaint, GIMP, etc.) I recommend one that is less of a resource hog for these initial screenies.
2. Move said program so that only a small portion of it is visible like the Title bar down at the bottom of your screen. Be sure leave it in the foreground (on top of CoX.)
3. Hit PrintScreen.
4. Move your art app back into view.
5. Paste.
I would actually have two instances of MSPaint running, that way I could select a part of the full screen image, and paste in into the second window gathering a little collection of cropped screenies.
I hope this helps.

Like the title says, I already tried holding down the prtscrn button and nothing happens when I type /screenshot as I can never find the actual screenshot when I do...so is there another way of getting a screenshot of my character?
