I've come across that about 3 times in the past 7 years. Surprisingly on both the old and new forum software.
It seems to be disallowing some certain sequence of characters, usually a sentence with a colon at the end, but I've never been able to exactly pinpoint the problem.
It's rare enough that it's not worth tracking down.

Even more annoyingly, when I hit the "back" button it erased everything I'd typed and gave me a blank box. Very, very annoying.
