He's so hot, he's cool!

Yeah, so here's my tilt at it. Will go Spiritual on him, so no more increases to Defenses, but he's only high-30's as of now. (or should I look at Cardiac/Agility?)

Currently kitted with Commons, I'd start making this on a 2nd Build.

Shameless self-bump and moderation bait.

I know it's less resilient than TwoHeadedBoy's, but a differing perspective would be useful. Only blasters I've ran before were an all-Range AR/Nrg Concept, and an Ice/Elec for PvP... so pretty different from the generalist teaming PvE build I'm trying here.

Apologies but...what exactly are you going for here? Mids is showing me that at best, you're looking at 32% S/L defense, and less that 20% ranged defense. Building up both S/L and ranged will (and has it would appear) stretch you pretty thin in both. (It's possible to cap both, but not without some hefty sacrifices to your attack chains.)

I mean granted, you can build however you want, which is fine, but I'm not sure what you want anyone to really say? Generally when someone's building for defense, they shoot for the 45% soft cap. If it works for you then by all means, do what makes you happy. But if it were me, I'd pick one defensive type to shoot for and go with that.

With Combat Jumping, I generally build for S/L/E and then get as much recharge I can. If I'm hover-blasting, I work for Ranged Defense.

Was trying to hit 32.5% SLE, so I'd be in range via purple... dinnae really do it though, so was more wondering how to better hit that. Apologies for not being clear. I'd like not to rely on Scorpion Shield if possible, since I've got a toon with it, and with 8 different epics I'd like to try them all.

After the 32.5%, wanted to buff HP for better DP, then just grabbed convenient bonuses where I could. This guy is intended for teaming, so he doesn't need to be super-sturdy on his own.

Blasters HP are just a few under the HP cap with all the +HP accolades. (Blaster Base HP = 1205, with accolades = 1446, Blaster HP cap = 1606) If you are going to get the +HP accolades you don't need many +HP set bonuses and you won't need Hoarfrost. For a blaster Hoarfrost is a minor heal on a too long recharge.

Agree with Miladys_Knight. Hoarfrost is pretty awesome if you have virtually no HP boosts already. Otherwise, it will often place you way over the cap.

If you're not really big on tons of defense, shoot for as much recharge as you can squeeze in. On a team, you should have a little more freedom in the AoE's you're using, and Drain Psyche just demands that it be up as often as possible.

I'm big on Defense, I was just hoping I could try an APP other than Scorpion... have a Dark/Cold Corr that I specc'd out recently, leveraging that Power Pool. however, it does seem that it is the best CoA to take. i'll play with the build some more when I get a chance.

Subbing Nerve Core Paragon for Agility Core Paragon (desired Alpha tree), since that'll show the Defense buffs. just below 32.5% SLEN Def without it, above it with. The Recharge will give Hasten about 5 sec downtime, and Drain Psyche about 10 seconds downtime. Capped HP with minimal bleed over after Accolades. Dunno, seems solid, yet still affordable.

Thoughts on round 2?
