Hi!

Then i install CoX on my iMac with Lion i got "Hash failure! Downloaded patch does not match the expected patch hash".

I can not find anything wrong with my mac and i tried to install it like 30 times. i got 10.7 Lion installed. I could run the game before freedom patch, but after that it doesn´t work anymore.

Does anyone else got this problem?

Oh and then installed CoX on windows 7 under boot camp it tworked until i restarted windows. Then it tries to repair CoX and i got a error message (error see below) and can´t play. Also if i uninstall I can´t install again without restart my mac several times.

Error Code: 58 (FileGroupApplicationErrorRollbackNotAttempted):
Errors occurred while applying the patch,
and a rollback was not attempted.
The product is likely in an inconsistent state and should be repaired or reinstalled.
The patch application errors are as follows:
Error Code: 57 (ErrorRepairingTargetFile):
File could not be repaired: C:\Program Files\NCSoft\City Of Heroes (EU)\piggs\texWorldV1.pigg.s

11-10-07 trying to install (completely new installation, error at stage 3)

An error prevented the game from being updated.
Game files might be corrupted, or files could have been in use while the update was being applied.
Reinstalling the game will probably fix the problem.
You can also try to reapply the updates by right-clicking on the game's name in the game list.

If i repair it ends up at error 58 and 57. Reinstall ends up on the last error.

Are you sure it was fully downloaded when you swapped to windows? IE: not just partially trickle downloaded? With Lion having just been let out of the cage there are surely going to be issues as it's a bit of a design change, but luckily not at the base level. There's alot of behind the scenes code in the OS that could be acting sorta like a firewall to the game, corrupting the install. Either way I'd support it and see what happens and post what you had to do to get it to work (not the contents of your support email or you'll get mod-smacked).

I have been helping him with this problem.

He has contacted support, but they have not answered for over a month now.

We uninstalled the old client and launcher and removed everything we could find that had to do with the game from ~/Library. Then we downloaded the installer from the account page and started that. Every time it failed with the hash error. Really weird. We have also run memory and hard drive checker programs without finding any errors.

Luckily we did find a workaround. We copied my own game and launcher apps to his computer (took 10 hours over the net, eek). That seems to work for now. We have to see what happens when the next patch arrives.

Ouch on all accounts. I wish I new more about xcode and the intricacies of Mac/Win dual booting. Not having an intel I don't really have a reference point. :-/

Curious though, how is your system setup that allowed that copy to work on his? I'm assuming Not lion.

I am running Snow Leopard (10.6) and he is using Lion (10.7).

It is very common on macs to be able to just copy an application bundle from one machine to the next and it will just work.

That much I understand as (unlike windows) Mac's essentially hide the contents under an umbrella file that can be transfered between systems so long as they're the same type (MPC/Intel/Universal Binary), but I didn't know about the preference files, etc. I guess I just didn't understand whether you meant that you had transfered the Bootcamp/Windows version or the Native Mac version as the former could have been tricky. The good thing is that it worked!

Edit: Perhaps this should be stickied?

Now I understand what you meant.

We just copied "City of Heroes.app" and "NCLauncher.app" from "/Application".
Everything related to the game was deleted from "~/Library" on his side before running from the copy.

We have not tried to do anything on the Windows side at all.
