Hey all, I'm working on configuring MySQL replication using a different method that will avoid us having to have an daily maintenance window that lasts an hour every morning. To do so, I'm going to have to shut down our database server and make a complete backup, plus I might need to restart it a few times while configuring it.

I expect to have one extended outage (~1 hour or so) for a complete backup, and possibly two or three short (~5 minute) outages. No data will be lost during the maintenance unless I really screw something up badly, but if all else fails, I have backups from this morning. 
For the next hour or two, you might not be able to access the site. I'll try to do it as quickly as possible and keep such outages as short as possible, but while I'm familiar with the concept, the actual act of setting up MySQL replication is new to me, so please be patient.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
