New Spines/Regen
You might want to reconsider playing a regen scrapper if your experience was more than a few years ago. The set isn't what it used to be. You might want to look at Willpower as an alternative, it has similar elements and is less costly to make viable.
Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!
Okay, if not regen, then I think I'd prefer spines/da, unless you think that wp is much better in general?
I like the flavor of da, but I wouldn't mind wp if that's a clearly superior choice for leveling?
There's nothing wrong with regen, but spines works fairly well with pretty much all of the other sets too.
/da, /fa, and /ela all will stack damage auras with spines. /inv and /wp would work about the same, but /wp has a slightly weaker taunt aura (than all of the other sets), so having the DoT from quills could help you draw more aggro. /sr is groovy as well, but it doesn't really have any synergy outside of the power colors both being slightly pinkish.
I ran a spines/regen to 50 a while back (i12ish), without any problems. The only potentially negative downside would be the longer animation times of many of your attacks potentially interfering with your clickies every now and then, but it's far from a common occurrence.
/regen and /wp should be good to go out of the box, while the others might have some end issues you'll eventually solve with more slots (frankenslotting, SOs, etc)
I'd personally vote for spine/elec, but only because that's what I would enjoy, spines/da is pretty awesome as well.
Go spines/da, it's still a monster of awesome.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

^Professional Katana/regen build thread
Okay, I just made my new spines/da . Thanks for the advice.
Does anyone have any advice regarding powers/slotting as I'm leveling up? The guides I've read don't take into account inherent fitness, etc.
I'm pretty sure the OP was probably looking forward to playing a toggle-IH regen scrapper, and that hasn't been a reality for quite a while now. If he's really been gone that long, he clearly remembers when /Regen was the most overpowered set in the game, tanking Hamidon and such. No longer the case.
If my guess is correct, the advice given to him in this thread probably saved him a lot of disappointment when he reached level 28 and realized Instant Healing is an insanely long recharging click power now, instead of the toggle he remembers.

You are exactly right claws, regen was pretty sweet when I played, although I was an altoholic and never exactly got to end game, haha.
So I'm spines/dark right now in praetoria, any advice regarding powers/slots, bonus pools, what enhancements to use while leveling, etc.?
Hi, I played this game when it first came out and then quit after a few months and am just now coming back to it. A lot has obviously changed, and most of the guides in the sticky seem outdated.
I want to know what powers/slotting I should get, i.e. at what levels to get and slot powers, for leveling up. I assume I can respec later on for PvP or whatever if I want?
I plan to play both solo and in groups with a couple of other friends new to the game, if that's any help.
Thanks for any help!
P.S. I'm still only level 4 or so right now, and am not opposed to spines/dark or some other combo if anyone thinks it's superior for my purposes.
