Yet Another PB Build: Money No Object

Hi all,

I've spent a long time with my beloved Peacebringer, and have burned out every vestpec & reactorspec & freespec trying out different options. I've never invested much in terms of cash, or thought into IOs.

However with my Emp/Psi & Fire/Storm both at T4 across the incarnate board, I've given my toon a costume makeover, and am now buried in Mids trying to figure out the best build.

With a thinning down of my 50's, I'll be deleting an Ice tank and a perma-Mind-Psi dom as well as (perhaps) a Willpower Brute, so cost is not an issue here, and a lot of the recipes I already have (PvP IO's excepted). What I'm wondering is how well this will actually play. And I really want it to play well, because I do love my PB, but feel that it's underpar at the moment.

The tl;dr version is a tri-form, concentrating in Human form (once I get Clarion), but flexible to switch forms as required. I'm planning on Spiritual Alpha, and Clarion Destiny.

156% recharge with perma-hasten
36% Def to S&L (for human form scrapping)
33-40% resists with all shields up to all apart from Psi & Toxic (not going to try and do much with that as the build is far too tight as it is. Essence Boost is perma though for 15% Toxic resist)

Trying to get a tough human form has left gaps in Nova & Dwarf, but I can't see a way of beefing them up without losing human form effectiveness. I'm also quite concerned about Endurance costs.

Am I doing the right thing here? I've focussed heavily on recharge to keep the human scrap-form quick and self-sustaining (heals back fast, attack chain is fast) as well as the Nova/Dwarf form attacks back quick (because there aren't many of them), then on S&L defence.

Thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Your build is actually kinda similar to MY build...

I went for recharge as well, with a healthy smattering of defense. I slotted things a bit differently here and there, and I feel I managed to get all three forms fairly well off. My human attack chain is primarily just gleaming bolt, radiant strike, incandescent strike, mostly because with the recharge thats all you really need. Radiant and incandescent are gonna be recharging really fast, and gleaming bolts there just to play filler and drop the -res proc/stack my interface proc. You could probably change that out for glinting eye fairly easily.

I occasionally have end problems, but its mostly from not hitting conserve energy when its up, or from fighting things that do a lot of end drain anyways. The forms don't have end problems at all (Save for the situations with end drain happy enemies of course). Admittedly, I primarily team, so an abundance of recovery/end boosts from friends running the ageless destiny probably helps with that...So your mileage may vary in that regard.

I use Nova for AoE, Human for single target/AV, and dwarf for when I need to taunt/take a hit. Spiritual alpha, Ion judgement, Reactive interface, Clarion destiny while solo, rebirth most of the time when teaming. Could likely take Ageless to help with any end problems that occur while conserve energy is down, but I like the regen/yet another click heal. Go with what works for you...

I will say this though, if you're going into this trying to make a PB stand toe to toe with IO'd to the gills brutes, permadom's, etc, dont get your hopes too high.

Do the IO's help?

Oh definitely, they're wonderful...but are they gonna turn you into an unstoppable behemoth of destruction and PWN who runs all missions on +4x8 with walk toggled to make it fair for the enemies?

No.

I tend to run on +0x5, bosses off, while solo. Could probably tweak it a little more, but that's about where I'm comfortable. You're gonna have to find your own comfort zone, and try not to let E-peen envy get to you.

Thanks Zenyth.

I'm not trying to make my PB something it's not. I remember back in SO days, on a full team, being the only one able to hold things together when it all went south, with Dwarf there as a true rock to give the players time to regroup. And when they did, back to human/Nova for more destruction.

I love that versatility of the AT, but it was somewhat disappointing to be repeatedly splatted on iTrials. A lot of this is to do with being only 50, with no iSlots yet, and I need to rectify that.

It's more a case of filling that gap in a team for those "oh poo" moments, when Dwarf is the only thing that will give a bit of breathing space. Human and Nova is the day-to-day normality.

One thing I did note from your post, is having multiple incarnate powers for each slot depending on whether team or solo. That's really useful, because once you get inherent mez protection through your team, Clarion isn't as useful any more (not entirely useless, just less useful).

Thanks for the comments.

Its not just mez protection from the team either, just having more warm bodies to be focused on besides you helps. If you've got someone running FF or sonic, or something then even better...

And yeah, ive been fairly lucky with my component drops. Ive got all of the destiny's at Rare, three of the Interface's (Diamagnetic, Paralytic, and Reactive) at least to rare, and two lore pets (Warworks before 20.5, and Polar Lights after...cause if you're gonna play a PB you might as well have as much PB as you can. Woo Polar PB's!). Just the one judgement and Alpha though. I may make a cardiac or musculature alpha when threads/shards permit, but Im trying to very rare the others right now.

Don't be afraid to help out as dwarf either. Snag aggro off the tank during the BAF sometime with dwarf taunt, take the sequestration warning, then let the tank have aggro back. You'll never see the three strike mez that way. Doesn't always have to be an "oh poo" moment to be useful...
