So long before praetorian earth there was this place called the shard. With an enemy group that was/is quite powerful.

So my question is what is so special about primal earth? Why is it that fighting those particular people is the only way to become incarnate?

From a story standpoint there really is no difference between the shard and ppraetorian earth. There's a portal and some stuff on the other side. Same with the rikti. Although there isn't a portal to the home planet...not all the time anyway.

Don't get me wrong preatorian earth is interesting but there are other places that could be enhanced with new content, that fit thematically.

You can do Ramiels Arc and get your Alpha slot.

You can do normal content and get shards.

You can convert shards to threads.

You can convert threads to Incarnate XP.

You don't have to fight Preatorians to be incarnate. But currently it is the fastest way. Once they end this story, I am sure there will be other avenuse to get the xp and threads.

I have been waiting for an expansion to the Shadow Shard ever since it first appeared. I love the concept and the story behind it, and it bugs me that we can't properly fight Rularuu himself. In fact, we are limited to just two aspects of Rularuu when the game is coded already to have more, but they simply don't exist anywhere.

If you have a few years to spare, maybe. Saying that Trials are faster than conversions is like saying that Earth's escape velocity is faster than a brisk walk. Yes, it is.
