Client hangs on title screen

Hello all, and thanks in advance for your help. I recently wiped my computer and reinstalled coh, but the game now hangs on the title screen, specifically the part where its the splash screen and says loading, but the login ahsn't yet come up. I left it on while i slept last night, and when i checked it, the login screen was up, but it was extremely lagged, i'd type a character and it wouldnt appear for 2-3 minutes. i didnt acutally make it as far as logging in.
