Kinetic Blast set?

So i was trying to make a kinetic defender but wasnt really happy with any of the blast sets. None of them seemed like they went with Kinetics. Yes, i know that the set that goes with it is supposed to be gravity control but this made me think, why not a kinetic blast set?

So heres my idea:
-this would kind of like kinetic melee, where its not only range, it has some melee in it. What i mean by this is that all the aoe's are pbaoe(maybe one cone?)

-with the slightly shorter range, it would have slightly higher damage than other blast sets(highest for defenders, second highest under fireblast in other AT's)

-I think that the ST blasts would have a sphere of energy like focused burst, 1st tier being smaller and quicker while 3rd tier ST attack would be a much bigger, slower attack.

-It could have its own cool version of an aim, that would drain its opponents the same way KM's does. Not sure what to do for this yet though, without copying KM's.
Ideas for its special aim: Maybe a targeted? Depending on the number of enemies hit, the more tohit and damage you get? and it would leave a slight -damage debuff behind on the enemy.
I wouldnt like to copy souldrain but that kind of a drain seems like it would fit this melee themed range set. and plus they already have souldrain for the epic anyway so i dont think theyd ever use this kind.
or have it similar to KM's but half the +damage and raise the +tohit so it seems more like an aim power.

-mixed mez effects throughout powers like km(maybe?)

-would be all slight smashing/Mostly energy damage

so heres the powerset i have in mind(rough draft)

Quick Burst-Ranged ST, minor damage, quick recharge, quick activation, \-damage debuff

Charged busrt-ranged ST, Moderate damage, medium recharge, medium activation, -damage debuff, KD

Pulse-pbaoe, moderate damage, moderate recharge, moderate activation, -damage debuff, KD

(mez pbaoe)-pbaoe mez, minor damage, moderate recharge, quick activation, Mag 2 or 3 stun( maybe mag 2 with a chance of 1 more?)

(special aim)

Focused Burst-ranged ST, High Damage, slow recharge, same activation and animation as KM's,20% chance for mag 3 stun, -damage debuff

Charged Pulse-(need help here :P)

St mez or snipe?

(Nuke)-pbaoe, Extreme damage, very long recharge, Extreme -damage, mag 2 stun, - recovery

this was just a random thought of mine. I need help with balance, figuring out what powers should go where. I would really like a kinetic blast set BUT i really need all the help i can get to get it blanced and finished

Leave any comments or ideas you have on this. Opinions welcome too.

I don't know if we'll ever get a Kinetic Blast set. First, I think it would be very difficult to make unique animations for all the powers. Second, I think it would be difficult to make it different than any other existing set out there (and Ranged blast sets are not exactly in short supply). Third, the fact that they already have 2 ranged attacks and a larger-range PBAoE in the Kinetic Melee set makes this even less of a possibility. However, having said all that, I love entertaining new ideas, so here's how I would build it. I'm not making power names, just types of powers and what they do.

1. Ranged Minor DMG(Smash/Energy), 80 ft., Foe -DMG

2. Ranged Moderate DoT (Smash/Energy)(fast, like Scream from Sonic Attack), 80 ft. range, Foe -DMG

3. Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Smash/Energy), 40 ft., 60% chance to Knockdown (aka Repulsing Torrent)

4. PBAoE Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash/Energy), Knockdown, Foe -DMG (aka Burst)

5. Aim (standard)

6. Ranged, Minor DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Disorient, Foe -DMG

7. Ranged, High DMG(Smash/Energy), 60% chance to Knockdown, Foe -DMG

8. Sniper, Extreme DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe -DMG (might as well call it KA-ME-HA-ME-HA!)

9. Ranged (90 ft. 30 degree Cone), Extreme DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe -DMG, Self -Recovery

Not trying to be negative here, but what would this bring to the table that we don't already have?

Kinetic implies transfer of the energy of motion, i.e. knockback. Knockback is an effect that is despised by the overwhelming majority of people (largely because the won't learn to use it effectively, but that's a whole other can of worms). We already have a set devoted primarily to KB as a secondary effect, Energy Blast.

Having said that, I do like the concept of a Kinetic Blast set, and like some of the suggestions made such as the Aim/Build Up substitute. Unfortunately it is nothing more than a weaker substitute for Fulcrum Shift.

Two things I would like to see in a Kinetic Blast set:

1) It is substantially different from other Blast/Assault sets

2) It compliments the Kinetic buff set for those who like to make themed characters.
