Fire/Ice Tank Advice

A couple months back some people on here gave me some good advice for the Shield/Ice Tank I had rolled. Well, I played him through Praetoria, did a few arcs in Paragon, and deleted him. The feel just seemed off for me, like Ice and Shield weren't supposed to go together. Despite the fun potential of the character, it just didn't feel right. So, determined to have more than one tank that I enjoy playing (I love my WP/Elec Tank), and having toyed with this concept for months, I am hoping more experienced Tank players can help me with a Fiery Aura/Ice Melee Tank.

I am not looking for a build that is the "can solo an AV" tank, or even "hits like a wet noodle, but can stand up to Lord Recluse" type. I want a good, well-rounded Tank, that I can solo pretty easily without feeling like a green-conned Hellion will take an hour and a half to kill.

Any advice more experienced players can offer would be appreciated, even if the advice is to delete this guy because the powers are horrid together.

Thanks all.

Would be interested in hearing advice from people who have this powerset combination at 50, too. But I guess it is pretty rare. My reasoning was mitigation-heavy secondary + offensive primary = well rounded toon.

fire/ice tanks used be everywhere with the Burn/Ice Patch combo. With the recent changes to Burn it is a pretty good combo again. It is not as strong as any other tank. Versus minions and Lt's it does pretty well about eliminating them before the hits take it down. (I dont have my shield/ice anymore for comparison though)

ice/fire is still nice. Ice is easily soft/capped and endurance is not an issue after 26. Fire melee is great. Ice has a weakness for the heavy hitters, but that is what Hibernate is for.

YMMV---IMO

I recently started one as my first tanker, before the Burn changes got in. She's 46 now and I reckon it'll be better going in the low levels now with inherent fitness. Found ST damage to be anemic then, ran out of end before stuff died and admittedly sometimes i just waited for blazing aura to roast the last few slivers. Now with Burn, Frost and FA, most melt away. I don't have Fireball yet.

The caveat is that my experience has always been with squishies so this has been one of my most survivable toons. My diff is at 0/6 and it's fun solo. There's just too much Malta and carnies now at this level, things have slowed down a bit

Endure. In enduring grow strong
