Broadsword/Shield Attempting to soft cap this sucker solo
Phalanx Fighting gives 3.75% (unenhanceable) defense with ZERO allies nearby. Turn it on in your build with zero allies and reconsider your slotting. Because the zero-ally bonus is unenahanceable, most builds I have seen do not slot Phalanx Fighting with defense. Instead it is used as a mule for LOTG global recharge and/or Kismet 6% to-hit.
Also, you seem to lack purple sets, but you have LOTG's and a Gladiator's 3% defense. The Gladiator's is going to cost you at least 2 billion inf.
I don't suppose you'd be able to push the build further with Fitness becoming inherent in i19.... Not sure what you could pick up, but might be worth a try. I know there's a version of MIDS floating around the net with Inherent Fitness enabled.
A) Yeah, I"ll adjust for i19 when the time comes.
B) Thanks for the info on the rules on Phalanx. I'll see where my defense is at with no allies, and adjust. That should do the trick. As for purples, they're overrated on some builds. Broadsword's got great AoE, and a few good single targets. If I target the boss and alternate AoE and single target, he should die at about the same time as the rest of the mob and make for an uninterrupted attack chain with the lotg procs. Recharge ain't too important compared to defense. But with 3.75 more defense, should be able to fit at least one more to make the build a little better.
C) I'm aware of the glad proc being expensive. I put it in my build for the very end-game stuff, to see where I'll be once I can get one. I'm about to earn one on one of my toons and I've got it in all my defense builds to help choose which one get the priority. If I can manage this build without it, I'll drop it and use it where it's more needed.
Just dropped the glad proc and turned phalanx on. Put me at 44.6 ranged. Dropped everything but the proc in phalanx and put the slots in superspeed. I'm over soft cap in everything now. I'm gravy. One slot to spare even. I'll have to find a place to put that.
End use is fairly heavy but I'll point out that the second endred in AAO is saving a net of 0.04 end/sec. I'm guessing this second endred slot could be moved somewhere and save at least as much if not more.
Here is a build I worked out for my bs/shield scrapper. It goes slightly over the softcap and doesn't need the gladiator's armor. last time i checked, it was selling for about 2 billion (way out of my league):
I haven't actually done the slotting because my bs/shield is only at level 42, but I have a similar build on my electric/shield scrapper and it works pretty well.

Tryin to soft cap this sucker without using Phalanx fighting. You'll see that the bonuses are very close. 44.7, 43.2, and 44.5. Just can't seem to squeeze that last little bit out. I realize I could probably get some more by taking out phalanx and putting in something else, but I want to keep it. I figure, fighting nictus and things like that will be easy as pie when I've got it on, since the debuffs won't bring me back under softcap. And against all odds has an aggro aura, so I'd be able to tank/backup tank. The only thing I can see that I can do is juggle slots around with tough, true grit, and the aegis/reactive armor sets. If I 5 slot tough with aegis I can overcap my AoE, which means I can sacrifice some AoE somewhere else in favor of ranged. But unless I'm missing something, the only way I can do that is to sacrifice melee somewhere else. I've almost got it down myself, and I'm not sure there's anything else I can do without sacrificing one of my key concepts, I.E. AgainstAllOdds, Phalanx, Grant Cover, Tactics. If the only way is to drop one of those, then I don't want to. I'd rather just keep 20 purples on me and pop them one at a time if needs be.
