Depends on what you are going for. Is it better than KM/WP in what aspects? Tell me your goals and I'll give you the answers you seek. 
As for soloing, Fiery Melee/Fiery Aura can be be sturdy enough, but your main attitude (at least before IOs are involved) is going to be kill things fast before they kill you.

Thanks for the response, basically i'm just looking for a soloer to do regular missions, i'm not interested in trying to solo AV's or anything like that, just a good damage dealer with some AoE to help with large groups.
