Fixing Files: piggs/sound.pigg Help!

Hyperstrike

I'm trying to play and every time I run the updater I get stuck at Fixing Files: piggs/sound.pigg. It's got 167385/sec to go. At that rate my vacation will be over and I'll be back to work. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions for this issue?

What OS are you on?

If Vista/Win7, are you running by just double-clicking on the link or doing "run as administrator"?

If you're not doing the latter, please do so.

Also, were you in beta at all? If so, you can just copy the piggs folder from beta and wipe out the checksum file.

I ran into this last night too. I'd already gotten the pre-download, and it choked on one pigg and went into telling me that it was going to be FOUR HOURS to fix.

I then did the "copy from beta folder" trick and was up in 30 minutes.

It seems to happen to me every issue.

No I'm running on Win XP. Shortly after I posted this question it started working again, but then I got blue screen of death. I'm restarting now. Let's see what happens.

If you continue getting BSODs and the like, you may have something else going on too. If it continues, post copies of your CoH Helper and Hijack This logs.

To see how, follow the "Asking for help" link in my sig.

I'm getting the same error, running Vista Business edition. CoX ran fine until I tried to log in after the patch (i18/GR) went live.

L50 as a Tank, Mastermind, Soldier, Blaster, Defender & Brute so far. Still trying testing alts in search of my 'main'. So many possibilities!

Same problem here.

After a marathon download, now it's fixing the Piggs.. Starts off with 2 hours to go at a snails pace then ends up at 51 hours to go at a dead snails pace.

If I look in task manager, the updater is not using very little cpu time.... stays at 0% while the memory it uses steadily grows.

Oh look! now its all of a sudden down to 7 hours while I was typing this. Back to a hyper snails pace of 36.6k /sec. Guess I will wait and see what happens!

Looks like things are about normal with CoX. Maybe I can pray for a few less crashes a day!

Some of the same issues here...I waited for 2.5 hours last night for the D/L. I logged off my laptop afterward in the middle of the application (bad I know but I was up way too late as it was). Tonight, I went to finish or pick up any straggler files and it started in with the fixing piggs/sound file as well. After a slow start, I was reading here and decided to stop and restart it to speed it up (possibly). Since then, I have had no luck even getting it to start again. It stays at 167385etc....here is what the specs say:

Thanks for any help and can't wait to see you all on the inside again

After giving up on CoH after my last post I tried again the next day & logged straight in without having to change anything.

Then I go to log in tonight and its applies 3.6GB worth of patches.

I strongly suspect its more of a server-end problem than a user/client-end problem.

Oh well.

I try to be understanding and patient, can't be easy to program games for all the possible applications & hardware combinations at the users' end, but its not easy.

Good luck all.

L50 as a Tank, Mastermind, Soldier, Blaster, Defender & Brute so far. Still trying testing alts in search of my 'main'. So many possibilities!

I'm in agreement Terse. It seems like the problem with the pigg files are not isolated yet I'm not getting any kind of response from tech support in the last 24 hours. Also not having any luck scouring the boards myself. I uninstalled/reinstalled and I am having the same issue all over again.

sigh...
