There seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding when raids start, so I'd like to clarify it here.
Weekly raids are scheduled to start on Sundays at 7:30pm EST. We have been running community raids at this time since November 2008. Please note that teams will start forming up approximately 30+ minutes ahead of start time and continue to form as more people zone in. The raid leaders usually enter the zone early so as people start to log in, we can invite them to teams ASAP and not leave them hanging.
The zone caps at 50 people. After that, people will be sent to Hive 2. For this reason, players have typically entered the zone ahead of start time to guarantee a spot at the raid. The raid leaders are not in control of when people decide to start zoning in. We just try to be there in advance to make sure people get on the right teams and so that we ourselves are not locked out of the zone.
In the event that the zone caps ahead of start time, the raid will begin early, as no more players can possibly be added to the raid at this point.
I hope that clarifies the issue. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
