I see no particular reason why they shouldn't do it.

It seems unlikely anyone has emotional investment in protecting the specialness of Brawl. I guess it could be sort of deceptive in PVP since Brawl doesn't stun and Thunder Kick does...can...might stun. But that seems like a minor thing, and could always revert to the Thunder Kick animation in PVO zones, just like the current "minimal fx except in PVP zones" code for other powers.

I think its a really good idea. The animation already exists, as does the system for specifying alternate animations, so why not? I'll say so in your thread.
I guess for now you can swap Thunder Kick for Boxing if you're planning to take Tough for whatever reason. Or even if you don't want Tough, but have a pool to spare?
And I totally disagree with the preference for a street-fighting set, I like the alternate animation system because it decouples game mechanics from cosmetics. Punching and Kicking look different but have the same ingame effects, hence no dev time is lost balancing a new set in order to allow people to punch.
More choices=More better!

One thing i do not understand is COH calls it Martial Arts but only uses kicks?
Wonder what martial arts form uses only kicks?

It's the rare form that only super people can use. (and even before the alternate animations you had cobra strike...which was some sort of a punch)

I posted this in the suggestions forum a couple times now.
It seems that many people do not care about this suggestion and I would like to know why.
I suggest they use the Brawl animation for the alternate animation of Thunder Kick.
Reason for this:
More punching.
They both have the same activation time.
The Brawl animation is used in other powersets (Shadow Punch, Energy Punch, Charged Brawl, Stone Fist).
Finally...having the Brawl animation as an alternate animation to Thunder Kick is better than not having an alternate at all.
If you can get on board with this, I ask you to please comment on my post in the suggestion forum. I'm not going to say this would be an easy addition for the devs...but I think it would go along way in being able to build a Martial Arts scrapper that just punches.
