Subliminal Tenor - Sonic/Mental
I am not sure if it is really possible to use Drain Psyche to keep up my endurance, but if it is I can drop the Fitness pool for the Leadership pool which gets me to the magic 45% ranged defence(Though I would love to find 4 slots to get some more AoE defence):

I'm not very experienced with blasters, I've only recently got into the blaster scene but I imagine relying on Drain Psyche for endurance would be dangerous. Constantly having to get into melee range would get you beaten up more and unless you can get perma-DP, which I doubt if you've slotted for defense and not recharge, you're going to struggle with endurance, especially with an extra toggle.
I could be wrong though.
I only need to hit 1 target with Drain Psyche to get enough endurance, so I think in theory it is doable if I pick on a straggler. I am not so worried about the danger, but more the practicality of if I can be bothered to do it all the time. But then I think a fully saturated Drain Psyche will make me very tough so is probably worth doing.
Either way I have made a third build, with better AoE defence at the expense of some unnecessary (I think) recharge:

Siren's Song is the power that suffers, but even with just the 1 slot it should be good enough to open with against +0/x8 when solo to let me get a good Drain Psyche in.

Worst case scenario: both Hasten and DP are down, that's 15.9 seconds until you can hit DP again. Look at your recovery and end drain, during this time, your toggles are using all of your recovery, meaning any endurance used for attacks wont recover, you'll probably be down to 0 endurance in no time. Then all your toggles drop, your damage mitigation plummets, at which point you will probably die...
Sounds risky to me.
Red & black type are nigh impossible to read on the red-skinned forums, BTW, so I didn't even try to go thru any of the builds in this thread.
Please consider your potential readers next time and use different colors - orange, yellow, wheat & lime green work well with both the read and blue skins when you are looking to emphasize with color.
P.S. Love the character name!

You are right it does look awful!
Thank you

Not sure what you're planning to use this build for. Regular teaming? Solo mishes? Farming mishes? solo AV's?
For most solo situations I'd say save yourself a billion influence and use sirens song>DP>Amp and/or Concentrate.howl>psychic scream>Psychic shockwave and move to the next spawn. Pick up your nuke and carry a few blues and simplify the whole task every few spawns. +0s should really be no problem even slotted with SO's.
Teaming Amp and or Concentration Howl>Psychic scream>Psychic shockwave and mop up stragglers DP if needed.
If all else fails grab the fire epic and add RoP to your attack chain :P

I solo quite a lot, and intend to be able to solo at least +0/x8, but I also run an awful lot of TF's and will be using this there too. I don't really like nukes without an instant recovery power, especially on toons that use toggles.
My aim was survivability, plus a good single target attack chain for AV's (Which I may even try and solo - though I know the build isn't designed for it having no heal) and a good chain using the 3 cones for the larger groups.

I wouldn't get rid of Stamina and rely in Drain Psyche, but it does dramatically increase survivability.
Use Siren's Song on a mob, then hop into the middle of it while they're sleeping and use Drain Psyche. Then use Psychic Scream and Screech to stun as many enemies as you can. Next, just hop out of the middle of the group and go to town with your attacks.
Another safe Strategy is to use Siren's Song and just your Single Target attacks, killing one enemy at a time while keeping the rest napping. It's slow, but a good strategy when up against big numbers.
Dunno how good you are with cones, but you'll probably be an expert at them after playing a Sonic/Mental. After getting mine to 50, I like Cones better than Targeted AoEs. :P
My build uses Mind Probe instead of Telekinetic Thrust. I figured that I had enough control, and that a little damage spike would come in handy.
Be careful with Shockwave's KB. If you're good at herding then it's an awesome power, but scrappers get cranky when their usual strategy is interrupted by your usual strategy.
Too many alts to list.
The reason I made this toon was because I love cones (My Warshade gave me that love) and the best thing is that at level 12 I already have my full attack chain aside from 1 epic power!
My tactics are definately going to be Sirens Song > Drain Psyche > Cones!
I am not such a fan of the PBAoE's on blasters since I prefer playing them at range and Sonic/Mental lends itself to that wonderfully. I have also managed to softcap the build while still keeping stamina, and increased my ST damage whilst I was at it!
So far I am level 20 and haven't loved a toon so much since I first rolled my Warshade way back when, and she now has a build worth the best part of 5bil I would say.
Here is my revised build for any who may care:

I ran through a Posi TF last night (Braved a PuG and it was great thankfully! So a big well done to all involved!) and I have swapped Amplify for Shockwave (The positions I will pick them up that is), I then realised if I swapped Hover/Fly for Combat Jumping and Superspeed I would be able to turn this character into a great Posi runner! Not that I am going to, but it is another plus point.

Check out the link in my sig, its got good advice for the build. I'd avoid trying to go for defenses with this build. You'll be in melee enough, but your best mitigation is in the regen you get from DP and your mitigation powers. I'm a fan of cones as well so this build is very fun to me. Its nice having the howl > psy screa > static discharge aoe attack chain. Shockwave is a big component as well before static discharge, and is a big boon in your survival. If your on a team, it really shouldnt matter much anyways. but solo, you can perma-knock enemies down with it when slotted/bonuses etc.
I think in my link you have to g oto the bottom a little, they added surge of power to the elec mastery epic, so the build now includes that at 49 i believe. Very nice having SoP up and saturated DP :P Invincible blaster time!

I am not a fan of T9 powers with crashes sadly, I don't really like nukes either for the same reason. I prefer trying to build characters where the level of performance stays steady and I don't have to spend time waiting around. I wish I could get perma-hasten and perma-DP, but I need the defence too much to push for that last difficult bit of recharge.
British by act of union, English by grace of God, Northern by pure good fortune!
The tier 9 so to speak crash isn't bad though, the power lasts 2 minutes, you can cast it, use DP to put you to full, and its ready so you can use it right as the crash is about to happen, getting your low endurance/hp easily recooperated afterwards, usually skipping dropping any toggles if you get DP saturated. You don't use it just cause its there, but when you use it you can get by almost regret free. I only have it 2 slotted for recharge on my build and it more than serves its purpose, its not a heavy investment, but its definitely nice and easy to have.

I had another look and you are right, a saturated Drain Psyche will let me overcome any crashes, but I still don't think I will change the build.
Firstly I think I am happy with every power that I have, and secondly I don't really like having my power fluctuate, I would rather be at a certain level of power all the time. If SoP could be made perma on the other hand I would take it in a heartbeat, but that would be overpowered

Re: Losing Stamina
Even if you can't attack, if you're at the def cap, you can stand there and wait. [depending on the enemy]
Hi Blasters!
First thing I should say is that I have only really played one blaster in my 18 months (Fire/Nrg), and although I loved the journey to 50 once he got there he felt too squishy and hasn't been played since, even though I did once invest several billion into him.
Now I thought it was time for another blaster, and hopefully I want one that can stay alive long enough to actually do something, my other toons are played because they hardly ever die, so death is something I would rather avoid.
That said I know it is possible to go too overboard on the survivability side and miss out on key aspects (IE: Damage!) so without talking too much more can anyone help on the below build:

Level 1: Defiance
Any extra ranged or AoE defence that can be squeezed in would be great, as long as I keep my single target (Shriek>Subdual>Shriek>Scream>Repeat) and AoE (Howl>Psychic Scream>Static Discharge>Repeat) attack chains.
Of course if there is a better attack chain I am missing them feel free to educate me! I am level 1 at the moment so all this is just inspiration to make the journey to 50.
British by act of union, English by grace of God, Northern by pure good fortune!
