Mapserver connection lost? Seriously?
Quote:
Continuous connection with a continuous flow of data back and forth between two devices on the Internet is always tenuous at best. If you've ever seen a streaming video, such as one on YouTube stop to buffer, then you've experienced a stoppage or disconnect. There are protocols for reestablishing connection and resending dropped packets, but even that's not perfect.
Even as I write this, CoH is telling me that the connection to the mapserver has been lost. I think, once I hit the "submit new thread" button it will become readily apparent that my internet connection is just fine. So what's up with CoH?

The fault could be your computer, your cable lines, your router, your modem, your ISP's cable, your ISP's server, one of the many connections along the Internet backbone, or the game server.
It's not uncommon to experience a few mapservers 'pauses' in one night and even a full disconnect. Just logging back on usually fixes everything.
This is normal.

And that's somewhat normal for the first month after a new Issue. There will most likely be some 'stability' patches coming soon.
..but has been, in my experience, much more frequent since i16 was launched.
It's anecdotal, but I think it's at least worth someone checking performance logs. |
If a disconnect keeps happening often in the same way doing the same thing, then definitely report that. But random once-a-night d/c's aren't that out of the ordinary.
