Updater freezes on 'Downloading File Manifest'

I just tried removing the checksum so that it re-ran it. Nothing - still getting stuck in the same place.

Just tried to log in and getting the same problem 
mmmmm now it says "fixing files" 2448:29:52 remaining 
getting the same, gonna wait 30 minutes before i see it as a problem.

Im having this problem aswell, and ive waited over an hour and nothing is happened?
yeah im having this problem to! im not one to complain about things! stuff happens! cant be helped! but iv been trying to connect ALDAY!! 12hours later of just leaving it iv FINALLY starts to verify the files! then its unble to delete CityOfHeroes.old and agiin 2hours later its STILL stuck on 'Downloading File Manifest' i mean whats going on?! is there a server problem? iv heard LOADS of people [censored] about this problem the last couple of days! and theres still NO info ANYWHERE to tell us whats happening or whats going on! just an ever expanding list of people saying that they've got this problem!

I left mine standing after I receieved the 'downloading file manifest' message, whilst I contacted tech support. After about an hour, it said 'fixing cityofheroes.exe', and REALLY slowly rebuilt the file (I assume that's what it was doing). After another hour (ish) I could login (but my internet went down, because Virgin are naff, and have been on-again-off-again for a fortnight - but no, that's not related to this issue!)
Haven't heard anything back from tech support yet - but it's nice (in a way) to know that I'm not the only one with this problem!

I logged on last night and had exactly this problem. Having left the computer running all night it has now sorted itself out, but after a couple of hours it had done nothing so it isnt very quick.
Also, closing the program and starting again seems to put you all the way back to the start, so I guess an interruption in your connection will do the same.
Haven't had this happen for a few days now - has anyone else?

I have had problems accessing the game since the last patch. This evening (right now) is the second time this specific incident has occurred:
1) I load the updater, and it says 'Checking Updater'
2) It then says 'Requesting Patch'
3) It then freezes on 'Downloading File Manifest' and simply doesn't do ANYTHING
This happened the other night, so I just left it and went off to read something. An hour or two later, I came back, and it was ready to go. However, it doesn't seem to be doing anything at the moment... and I really wanted / needed to get in (SG Task Force organised...)
I read that there seem to be various problems since the last patch / upgrade. Is this one of them?
