Click on one of the podiums,
click 'create match' (or some such)
Set all of your paramaters
Then either use /arena_invite Name, to invite your opponent,
Or post the match and tell your opponent to find the match (easiest under the filter 'PLayer created')
I tried /ai one night and it seemed to totally fail.
Are there limitations on who you can invite, where they need to be, etc?

You need to type it in the normal chat box not the arena one.
