Patcher problem
Try downloading the EU updater from this post.

And downloading all the 2.6GB will fix the error? Because I already deleted the old CohUpdater with your Updater.exe but it didn't want to update either.
The CohUpdater.EU.exe file is only a few hundred kilobytes, not 2.6gig. If the game is already downloaded but not installed correctly, it WILL, on first run, ask you where to install, but as long as you point it at the correct place, it won't download anything other than minor patches.
If the game is installed to C:\Program Files\City of Heroes, then you need to point the install location at C:\Program Files. This will locate the game files, created the needed registry entries, and check the file versions. If it's current, it will load; if it's not, it will update. In no case should it redownload.
Be aware, many people mistake the patching process to be the downloading process. Downloading is usually fast; patching CAN take a fair amount of time, depending on the speed of your PC and the number of patches to apply.

Thanks for your help so far. Another question, my patcher says: City of Heroes-Updater v16.20071011.1 in the upper line of the patchwindow, while below I see: Project City of Heroes - Version 17.20080612.1T, is that normal? Shouldn't the updater have the same version?
And, currently when I try to start the game, an error occurs: City of Heroes has encountered a problem and needs to close. The crash occurred in ntdll.dll
This is a new computer, I don't think there's something broken or anything else, checked up all dll files and did some repair stuff, nothing helps.

I can't check the version numbers right now as I'm at work, but for the other problem, when does it crash exactly? On loading? On clicking one of the buttons? (Next or Agree). It's possible a video setting might be causing that, so click the Safe Mode checkbox.

During the "Loading" process after clicking on Agree. Safemode doesn't change anything at all, unfortunately.
Getting a crash in ntdll.dll is rather odd... That's NOT a dll that should be getting touched by any thing in the game.
Have you tried right clicking the shortcut and selecting "Run as Administrator"? It's unlikely, but it COULD be an access rights issue...

Can't help with the rest of it, but this one I may be able to shed some light on - the Patcher version has pretty much nothing to do with the Game version.
So there's nothing wrong, to my knowledge, in the Patcher having a different version to the game itself - it'll just be the last time the devs updated the patcher itself, which appears to be some time during Issue 11.
I'm sure someone who can actually access the game right now will be able to verify this (and it would be great if they would).
Very odd time to crash, though.
Just to clarify, though - from everything that has been suggested so far, the game is installed, and it has patched to the current version (see the Announcements sub-forum for the most recent version number), you are able to click "Next" from the first page of the client and "I Agree" on the EULA page. It then brings up the "Loading" splash-text and crashes?
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Yes, that's correct. I've tried running it as a administrator, it keeps erroring.
Are you running any other program at the same time? Especially things like Stardock Windowsblinds? That thing is known to have problems with CoH.

No, only the most important files are still running, nothing else.
What version of Windows are you running? Also, what are your hardware specs and are all drivers up to date?

I had that problem when I first installed CoH. In my case, the problem was that the motherboard drivers including the chipset was not installed correctly. That was Windows XP SP2 on an MSI Platinum SLI motherboard with nForce 4 chipset.
Still @Shadow Kitty
"I became Archvillain before Statesman nerfed himself!"
I'll try updating my motherboard driver now, since your motherboard is the same as mine, I think that's the problem. Thanks FloatingFatMan and Shadow_Kitty.
Ok, problem fixed. Graphic driver wasn't uptodate, so if anyone else has problems with ntdll.dll crash / error, update your hardware drivers.
Hello everyone, I've installed city of heroes per CD, everything went fine but now the patcher stays at v16.20071011.1 and when I try to join the game I'm getting an error due to ntdll.dll. It doesn't even patch anymore, it thinks it's ready to play, but the latest version is not v16.20071011.1 I guess.
Help please
