In The Papers!
There was a knock at the hotel room door, and a female voice from outside announced...
"..Room service! I have, your breakfast and newspaper sir."
The notorious mercenary hunter Big Game leapt off his bed. Not bothering to don a robe or pants he opened the door wearing nothing more than a pair of black boxer shorts, covered in red love hearts. The young woman at the door turned crimson on seeing the practically naked Big Game, and hurried her way to a table, quickly placing the tray of food, and the newspaper down. As she turned around she noticed the TV was playing one of those movies usually watched at night, and that was charged extra on the hotel bill. The poor girl turned an even deeper hue, and hurried out of the door, just as Big Game called after her...
"...Hey I aint even given you your tip yet!"
He then chuckled as he sat down. Pouring some syrup over his waffles, he started to read this morning's edition of the Paragon City Post.

AN INVESTIGATION is underway into one of the citys largest companies today after Freedom Corps discovered evidence of illegal experiments.
Billionaire Henry Swift and several employees of weapons manufacturer Ironguard were arrested by Freedom Corps last night after irregularities were found during searches prompted by reports of disturbances in Independence Port and Brickstown.
The heroes Britanic and Miss Teen led a Freedom Corps team into a cargo ship located off Independence Port and an office building in Brickstown where dozens of casualties were discovered.
After posing for photographs towing the ship into dock, Miss Teen made a short statement. She said: At 10pm tonight, myself and Britanic responded to simultaneous distress calls made from a cargo ship approximately two miles off shore and Ironguards office complex in Brickstown. During our routine response to these calls, we discovered evidence of experimentation banned under international law. It is our duty to ensure a full investigation is carried out and charges brought if appropriate.
Although we cannot elaborate on the nature of the nature of the experiments, we have passed on our findings to Paragon Police Department and the appropriate departments of the United States Government.
Britanic added: I would like to take this opportunity to thank a group of people without who this investigation would not have been possible. Some of us like Missy and myself wear our colors on our sleeves, but there are many who watch over this city without thanks or recognition. Well today, I thank them.
Equipment was still being removed from the premises in Brickstown this morning and hundreds of employees have been informed to make themselves available for interview.
Ironguard is a subsidiary of the global corporation League Associated Industries. This morning, LAI board member Alex Romanov, himself no stranger to controversy with recent illegal weapons trade charges being recently dropped after the disappearance of several key witnesses, made a statement from the steps of Romanov Tower, Steel Canyon.
Mr Romanov said: League Associated Industries will cooperate fully with any investigation into Ironguard. I can assure you that neither Mr Swift or the LAI board had any knowledge of these alleged irregularities.
We are grateful that this has been brought to our attention and Paragon City can rest assured that we will investigate fully and take appropriate measures.
I look forward to meeting with those individuals who prompted this inquiry to repay them in person for the service they have done our corporation.

After reading the main story Game threw the paper down onto the desk
Awww man, I didn't even get a freakin' mention. Still i was lucky I decided to run when I did, i can't imagine Brit would be too pleased that I was shooting at his chick, and it aint like he's one of my biggest fans in the first place. I 'spose with Swift being arrested, I got no chance of getting the other half of my money either. ah well back to the isles, and see if i can recoup my losses there...
((Thanks to Romanov, who actually wrote this news story.))

Tycoon Cleared of all Charges
Billionaire Henry Swift was released from custody today after te Ironguard Industries case was closed. Several employee's, most notibly a man named Berkley readily confessed to all charges brought against Mr Swift, and claimed that he had no knowledge to the scandalous allegations. His lawyer Ms Phos had this to say -
"This incident and incarceration has been trying for my client, having been roughly treated by a group of vigilante's who cared not for going through proper channels to bring up their concerns. If they had this whole matter would have been alot less complicated and their concerns would of been calmed internally"
Mr Swift was then givern a public apology from the president of the FBSA and told that he shouldn't let a group of small minded individuals ruin the reputation of the whole hero community. When asked if the incident had discouraged Mr Swift from visiting Paragon City again he stated -
"The whole freedom phalanx couldn't keep me away"
This is fortunate as Swift and his company LAI do alot of business in Paragon. Countess Crey was especially pleased with the news and offered a Paragon protector escort for Swift or any member of the LAI corporation if they wished to visit again. When asked what his future holds now the crisis is over Swift replied -
"I think I'll just dissappear for a while, but trust me, I shall return"
He declined to comment where exactly he was going

The Paragon Police Department were called out in force in order to break up an epic brawl at the infamous super hero fetish strip club Unmasked in the very early hours of Thursday Morning. The PPD made a total of twenty seven arrests. Sixteen were sailors from the USS. Paragon currently in home port, the other eleven were civilian patrons of the club.
It is also rumoured that notorious Pact mercenaries Big Game, Echo Thompson, and Iron Alligator were present at the club, and may have actually been responsible for the brawls outbreak in the first place. However all three seemingly made good their escape.
Echo Thompson is said to have literally leapt her way past the PPD. Iron Alligator, having played Possum, escaped in the ambulance that was taking him to hospital despite Iron Alligator having been shot in the head by one officer. While Big Game apparently walked out of the main entrance to the club dressed as the heroine Swan from the Vindicators. Two PPD officers are currently being disciplined for apparently abandoning their post, allowing Big Game to escape.
The reason the three mercenaries were present in the club is still unknown, but a PPD insider said that club owner Sleaza was found bound, pants down, and with what looked like Echo Thompsons pink tassel rammed into his mouth.
The cybernetic police hero COP, who led the PPD response refused to comment, but appeared far from happy about the whole affair.
The normally vocal Sleaza was also uncharacteristically tight lipped about the incident. However this has been attributed to the embarrassing circumstances in which he was found.
Despite extensive damage to the club interior. Unmasked was open for business as usual the following night. Sleaza has also drafted in extra security for the duration of the USS. Paragon's stay in Independence Port... Cont.Pg2

((Paragon City Post Newspaper Archive from the Union Wiki))
Hat covering his face, Big Game led on a sun lounger snoozing away on the forward deck of his boat, the Jelly Fish Dream. Without warning he was rudely awakened by a rolled up newspaper that knocked off his hat as it was hurled at him.
Big Game lept to his feet frantically sooking about as he tried to figure out what was going on.
"Hey Game! Newspaper from Paragon. Its got a couple of your buddies in it. Thought you'd be interested."
Big Game looked over to the man, whose boat was passing by his own. Salty Pete he was known as. Not some sort of sea faring reference, but rather in homage to the fact he always got caught out by the loosened cap of the salt shaker prank.
Big Game picked up the newspaper, and shouted over to Pete. "Thanks Salty...and if you ever wake me like that again il freakin' sink you!"
Salty Pete grinned as he turned away to steer his boat towards the wharf.
Big Game opened the newspaper, and started to read...
Awww man Helios bought it. Pity, for a egghead he was ok. 'Spose I better tell the others.
Big Game rolled up the newspaper, and put it into his back pocket. The he reached into the cooler beside his sun lounger, pulled out a beer and silently toasted his dead friend.
later Helios, hope I get to catch up with you, when something finally manages to catch up with me...
