Part Eight: Soaring Dragon

Wu Long Temple, Mt. Kongur, Xinyiang, China
Friday 24th November – 11:01pm

Two distinct voices from the shadows converse in a low whisper. The desperate breaths of a dying warrior can be heard in the background.

“This is pointless” a pure American accent. The man spoke in English.

“No it is not” was the reply, also in English but rather a hoarse Chinese accent.

“You’re killing her”

“I am training her”

“You’ve had her under this so-called training for almost a month and since I’ve been visiting they seem to grow more and more dangerous.”

“It is rigorous. Not dangerous”

“Shin if you keep this up, she’ll die.”

A slight chuckle, “Let us hope so”

A brief but tense silence, the other man was clearly loosing his temper.

“Far away as she is, Sabrina is still Militia and the Ministry will not just stand about and watch her slowly die under your stupid training. Are we clear?”

A slight pause, “Crystal. But…”

Several daggers flew out from all different directions beyond the total darkness of the temple, in the very centre knelt Sabrina, unarmed. She was beaten and bruised with cuts and stab wounds scarring her entire body, including her face. The daggers raced at her but she could hardly move a muscle. She barely managed to shield her head just as the blades struck, slicing and dicing her as they flew past. Most had embedded into parts of her body until she resembled a cactus smeared in blood.

Eight ninja dropped into the temple seemingly from nowhere, landing into a crouched position surrounding Sabrina. Standing to their full heights, they withdrew their katana simultaneously. Sabrina’s breathing slowed to pulse, her heartbeat raced insanely as the eight ninja approached. They charge forward in one swift motion, swords outstretched.

“As I was saying, the girl is here because she wants to Agent Kay. Since the beginning of her training with me, she has mastered her reflexes beyond the human limits. She is super ninja. Watch closely”

Sabrina drew in a sharp breath, her senses were suddenly so in tune that the eight ninja seemed to be running slower than a dead turtle. Time itself seemed to have stopped. She made a series of quick gestures with her fingers then clapped her palm heels together, effectively exploding her chi in a massive shockwave. The knives embedded in her flew out in all different directions, killing the eight ninja instantly.

“I don’t think she was dying. Do you Agent Kay?”

The darkness in the room began to seep away to reveal Wu Long and the suited Agent standing in a far corner. Wu Long hovered majestically across the temple to meet Sabrina, his yellow wig fluttering in the cold midnight breeze blowing through the holes in the walls, the black skull that was his face remained expressionless as he spoke Chinese.

“Heir of San, your training is complete”

“Master Long. Thank you” Sabrina mumbled, replying in her native tongue.

“It is time now for us to put a stop to Kimone’s terror. I am afraid while you have been up here training the townsmen down bellow have suffered greatly. Xinyiang is in shambles, the market has been burnt down and San Temple was ransacked just yesterday. Your gold, silk and family heirlooms have been looted. They tried to destroy the building itself and would have succeeded had they not been chased off by my warriors, led by Xing-Li of course. It was quite a battle I must say; Xing fought bravery and with great passion, which is understandable of course. After all, he is to be your husband and San Temple must be your kingdom” Wu Long glared down at Sabrina, watching her reactions closely. “You show no reaction to this news?”

“No master.”

Wu Long was amused but did not show any signs of it. He continued. “My warriors have had surveillance on Li Mu and the Devils for some time now, and you should be pleased to hear that we have the location of his hideout.” Wu Long paused but received no response. He continued. “Chinese Law Enforcement have been unable to detain Li Mu, even the great Eagleclaws and the infamous Nightcrawlers were shamefully defeated by the Devils of Kimone. Do you understand the magnitude of your mission San?”

Sabrina struggled to her feet and looked Wu Long straight in the eyes. The sheer strength of her will burned like the flames of a phoenix, determination underlined every word she spoke.

“My mission is to eliminate the Necromancer, and it will be done”

Dragging her injuries, Sabrina limped down the temple isle towards the great doors, a trail of blood following after her.

“I admire your courage young San. You are without doubt the best student I ever had” Wu Long called after her but she didn’t stop to reply. “Xing-Li will show you to Kimone’s hideout at dawn. Rest well”

Small tornados of arctic air carried balls of snow into the Temple as Sabrina pulled open the great doors. She stopped to take one final glance at the Temple in which she had been prisoner for the last three weeks with nothing but air and water to survive on. The intense training she had endured felt like death but she knew within herself that Wu Long had transformed her into something new.

“Thank you” she whispered, before disappearing into the night.

“Oh you are more than welcome Heir of San. You are more than welcome” said Wu Long. “Agent Kay!” he called in English.

“Yes?” He answered, stepping onto the isle.

“I want you to deliver a message to The Militia”

“Depends on the nature of the message I’m afraid, Militia are very dedicated heroes and at the Ministry we try not to distract their…” his voice trailed away in sheer terror. In the hands of Wu Long shone a five feet long katana emblazoned with Chinese calligraphy.

“This is special sword Agent Kay. The calligraphy you see along the blade is in fact magical inscription. The handle, beautifully sculpted in iron by the late Tian Lee represents a soaring dragon; its bright red eyes however are actually two very small ancient magical crystals where the sword’s power lays.” Wu Long hovered close, intimidating the trembling man as he spoke. The suited man sudden came to his senses and pelted down the isle. “It is hard to believe the full potential of both the Soaring Dragon katana and the Golden Dragonfly not to mention the Dragon Sabre; that is of course, until you see it for yourself”

In a sudden beam of fire the Soaring Dragon katana shot across the temple almost at its own making, gracefully piercing through the fleeing man from behind, nailing him to the great doors.

“Tell Militia that Sabrina San will not be coming home for Christmas”
