I know the people I respect in PvP, and I have never checked if they have the badge or not, or how much reputation they happen to have at each given moment. Respect of your peers is all that really matters. So, there are the few people who point out that there are easier ways to get the reward, but it doesn't mean you have lost anything in the process - you have gained weeks worth of PvP experience. People have taken note of you. Those are things more precious than a badge if you like PvP.
