Depends. If you're tanksterminding and want to draw agro in BodyGuard mode, then Empty Clips might be good for that, although I've not tried it. I don't like Dual Wield, it seems a bit slow to me, I'm regretting picking it.
My opinion.. niether. No need for any guns.
I've tried all three and (especially if you're /dark) you have better things to be doing than shooting alongside your minions.
Not to mention the pathetic damage in comparison with your thugs' weapons.
Your pets are cooler than you, face it, (take pride that they work under your payroll) but never admit it!
Well, seeing as how my new Thug/Dark MM is only level 8 so far, I can't comment on efficiency yet, but as for the coolness factor:
my g/f and me made a matching pair of Thug MMs (she's Thug/Poison), we both have Dual Wield, and when I drop down Tar Patch on a spawn and we and our henchies all open fire at the now mired enemies, it's like a scene straight out of a Tarantino movie [img]/uk/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
The pistol attacks I think are vying for "worst ever attack" in CoV. It's the endurance/damage ratio that's so bad. Empty clips is very End hungry and does terrible, terrible damage, it's a bit better than Brawl...but in a cone!
If you must get one, get Dual Wield, it's still pretty bad but at least you won't kill your endurance using it.
Has anyone actually slotted them? Most people take priority slotting pets for damage, and feel weaker in comparison.

yup, slotted both Dual Wield and Empty Clips, problem is you run out of End using them if you also want to use a lot of your secondary as well (which I did) and the damage doesn't get better when your pets do with upgrades. You can take a look at the numbers in the Prima PDF.
My Thugs / Poison MM is level 27. I picked up Pistols and Dual Wield and can confirm what everyone else is saying.
To begin with I did use the pistol attacks, but as I've levelled I've noticed I use them less and less because I'm using more and more secondary powers.
I still intend to take Empty Clips and my planned slotting is to six slot all three attacks, but I am wondering if its going to be worth it.
Still, Pistols are cool and Empty Clips doesn't look much cooler imo (I did take it on the toon before, but rerolled him to get earlier secondaries in).
Bottom line, is that Empty Clips will draw more aggro and use a big chunk of End, those should be your primary concerns.
The guns are mainly useful at low levels when you dont have much from you secondary set of powers once you hit mid 20s late 20s you can respec them out and let your thugs do the work while you just use your Dark Miasam ^^
Which is the 'better' of the two powers for a Thugs/Dark MM? Im planning on getting both eventually, but I'll be getting one at 35 and the other at 49 (Im currently at 31), so there'll be a long gap between...
Note: by 'better' I dont just mean more damage/quicker/knockdown etc - coolness should be factored in to [img]/uk/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
