Forgive what may be a noob question, but can't you get all these badges through normal game-play as well? I can understand organizing a hunt for them when you know there's a mission that spawns the required mobs (and I lurve shiny badges too 
), but I just want to confirm my understanding that these aren't specific to the Valentine's Day event.
Reason I'm asking is that I won't have the time to specifically hunt for them before those missions go away 
(I read that happens on the 22nd - true?)

You can get them through normal gameplay but only on CoV, this event is the only way so far to get these badges for heroes and AFAIK it ends on the 22nd.
