/SR and DM question!

I haven't seen much stalkers with /SR. Is that because it has been nerfed, or just forgotten? Is it good for PVP?

I also hear a lot of people really like DM. I also hear it is the best stalker primary, with spines coming in second. What would you rank the best stalker primary and secondary builds?

[/ QUOTE ]/nin seems to be a far more popular defense-based secondary for stalkers, with its self-heal and bag-o-tricks. Oh, and not having a gaping hole to AoE outside of hide for 35 levels.

/sr is still cheaper to soft-cap, though.

So would you say a dm/sr would be good or what?

DM/SR covers up one of the major problems some have with /SR very well (that being the lack of self-heal) with Siphon Life, and the -ToHit you apply with your attacks helps with the AoE hole until 35. And the AoE hole isn't quite as harsh on a stalker as it is on a scrapper (thanks to Hide's massive AoE defense bonus). DM/SR is still a classic no matter which AT you take it on of the three.

Yea DM/SR would be a great combo! The DM/ has a -tohit and the /SR has a +Def.

Imagine the amount of Defense gained from not being hit and the already excellent defenses...

Some people say that you need to take some filler powers for Spines/ but I took the Sands of Mu power which is great with my hide. I line up enough people and hit them with Ripper, the knockdown/bck is great enough to rehide and set up a well placed SoM attack that debuffs their tohit and gives me a boost to my Def, this then gives me enough movability to chain SoM and Ripper seasoned with a Spine burst that is doing 118-124 dmg

Spines has some AOE capability. DM is pretty much single-target.

I do enjoy dropping the hammer onto things with my naughty tentacles. Fast, straight up shot of negative energy. Mmm. Except Mu...they like the tentacles groping them.

Siphon Life is wonderful frankenslotted.

DM OWNS... i wish i didnt get energy aura and got something else but whatever... hes lvl50 and im still getting sets on him... so far he is super pwnage.... ive had a few stalkers and i have to say so far DM is the best.... ive only played MA,Claws,DB, and EM... so im no pro

i bet broad sword will be better though

My main is a Claws/SR and it's often about luck. If you're facing a something like a scrapper or blaster in PvP, though, expect to get hit a LOT. It's a decent secondary, but I don't know if I'd take it again.

The biggest thing that keeps me from going /SR on a stalker is how tight the build will be - I have a DM/SR scrapper and it was hard enough getting a decent attack chain and still getting all the defense I need in the build, doing the same thing with a stalker who needs to squeeze in AS and placate would be ugly. Ninjitsu is tight but not as tight as SR with 6 powers required to round out your defenses in SR (3 toggles, 2 passives and PB) vs 4 power choices in Ninjitsu (2 toggles and 2 clicks - I am counting Kuji-In Sha as required to round out your defense as that is what makes up for the lesser def). I don't count all the other extra stuff in either set - obviously anyone who goes SR will probably want quickness - but its a bonus just like caltrops or blinding powder, not something required to round out your defenses.

If you don't mind skipping travel powers completely (which I DO - personal preference thing) you can probably do SR just as easily as Ninjitsu but the looser build and the built in heal makes it a little more attractive than SR.

Anyone have a build for this?

There's nothing wrong with SR at all, but it's not reliable in PvP, even with DM as a primary. Defense is heavily nerfed, and even with the mass amounts of -acc from DM imo it still wont be enough to make it a secondary with a decent amount of survivability. Normally when a player enters a PvP zone they enter prepared, which means a high amount of +acc and perception, the -acc from DM coupled with SR will not be enough, especially against those who are ranged ATs.

For PvE, SR is awesome when soft capped. For PvP however, it would be advisable to use Regen or WP
