Best secondary for MA?

I have recently noticed a sg-mate with Martial Arts. I haven't actually seen many scrappers using it. I am planning on playing one and I need advice on a secondary. Any suggestions and explanations why would be appreciated.

MA tends to be a little endurance hungry so Willpower or Regen would be good choices IMO; both have Quick Recovery which, if taken along with Stamina; will negate the end drain. Willpower a little less so given the toggles that you need to run with it. Regen only has one toggle in the set.

Regen as you may know is a hitpoint, regen/self-heal based defense and willpower is a good mix of resistance and defense. Both secondaries are very different but good at what they do.

I second the /Regen or /WP suggestion, as I have 1 of each (MA/Regen at 50, and MA/WP at 28)

I went with /SR and I'm constantly end starved. As Captain_Croatia said MA's attacks are a bit more end intensive, but couple that with SR's early toggles and I'm constantly looking at an empty end bar. I'm not even sure if Stamina alone will completely offset this, but here's hoping.

Still, it's kind of funny waiting for some end to regen so you can finish off a mob, and just stand there toe-to-toe dodging and deflecting all of his attacks xD

Eventually as your build matures (35-45) you can buy multi-aspect set IOs and "frankenslot" your attacks to get the best percentage enhancement values out of them. It's possible to hit the ED cap for damage and recharge while getting good-to-excellent acc and end reduction. And, depending on your attack chain, you may not need to hit the ED cap on recharge, even though I find it...attractive. My own MA/SR runs about 82% end reduction in each single-target attack and that really, really, REALLY helps.

I had to get set bonuses for soft-capping elsewhere, of course -- you can't six-slot melee sets for defense bonuses and still get the very best enhancement values frankenslotting can give you.

Just saying there's light at the end of the "no end" tunnel...as it were.

I'm not really looking at IOs just yet (mainly due to just not being able to afford it), but I do plan to slot end reduction all over my build, 1 in each attack and 2 in my toggles. Hopefully that combined with stamina will offset the endhog I'm finding MA/SR to be.

As stated, /regen or /willpower are good ones. Having said that, my MA/Shield is a lot of fun, but was an end hog early on.

Playing a MA/Shield right now. Once I got Stamina, nearly all my end problems went away. Shield does seem to have some holes but the mezz protection clicky is very nice and shield is great for team.

If you haven't gotten to "Shield Charge" yet, you will love it. Six-slot that bad boy and have fun!

Here's another vote for Willpower or Regen.

I have a MA/Dark Scrapper which I rolled up thinking I could stack the disorient from Cobra Strike with the disorient from Oppressive Gloom, but I never play him because he sucks end as if he had his own personal Malta Sapper following him around at all times.

Shield Charge comes soon. Yea, saw that power when getting ready for a respect (with no shield guide, I ended up making at least 3 mistakes in my build) and I can hardly wait.

A lot of sets work well with MA. I have an MA/Regen myself that was great fun and very active.

MA/Willpower will not be your most powerful character; but in my opinion, it's the most fun. I really like the flashy, visceral animations of taking down enemies, and willpower lets you wade into combat a bit more easily than /regen might.

With resists and defense, my six MA/WP scrappers can only get taken down by a really hard-hitting EB or AV. Single target fights are NOT what MA/WP does.

The +end of QR is superior to Stamina; I found I had little endurance problems with 1 EndRed IO in each attack (the level 20 common is 25% reduction). When you get into the 30s of your character, there's little reason to avoid Stamina; I usually pick it up at 35 or 38.

What /willpower will allow you to do is: survive onslaughts of eneimes. Think of that Matrix fight where Neo fights clones of Smith, or Leonidas in 300 taking down 50 guys by himself. Or any scene from Watchmen.

MA/Willpower will let you survive just about everything in the game; figuring out how to survive that last 1% is quite fun.

I have a Level 19 MA/WP science scrapper and going with Fitness and Leadership on Power Pools. So cannot wait for QR+Stamina.
