Fraps getting rid of power trays. etc.

It's not FRAPS that does that. Your best bet is to demorecord in-game, then play it back using Zloth's demo launcher (with it set to remove the heads up display), and THEN FRAPS. Also less lag on your game as a result.
Go here and download my Toons on Film PDF (upper right corner) on how to demorecord and it will tell you everything you need to know. It's really easy.

there is also an option to set 'remove UI' to a key. I set mine to + and FRAPS to - for video recording.
